Round 0 Interviews: "Oziel" Nicandro Aloisio

Fighter profile of Nicandro Aloisio by

Hello everybody. My name is Daniel Ocean. You may know me for my work as the BFT Reviewer, as well as the occasional preview, Hall of Fame announcements, or other little odd jobs. We all come here to see how our fighters fight and train, but we don’t know what they’re really like. I recently sat down with BFT Rising Star “Oziel” Nicandro Aloisio to take a look at what makes the 13-2, Light Heavyweight Contender tick. I went 5-rounds with the man in a conversation get some information about his career and how he got to where he is today. This was the fight before the fight. This was Round 0.

Round 0 Interviews: “Oziel” Nicandro Aloisio

Daniel Ocean (D.O.) Hello Nicandro. First things first, how are you doing?

Nicandro Aloisio (N.A.) Doing Great thank you for asking.

(D.O.) Let me get started with your roots. You're from Mexico, but you've pretty much made your fighting career here in Sydney. What brought you to Sydney?

(N.A.)When I was 16 I didn’t have much parental supervision so I was always hanging out around the local fight scene, in Mexico they don’t have much care for the law so they hold underground fighting all the time and one of the times I had lied about my age and fought Louie DePalma just happened to be there watching.  No idea what the hell he was doing there but luck was in my corner that day and I guess he saw something in me, and invited me to come down and train in his gym Masaru.

(D.O.) If given the oppurtunity, would you like the chance to fight in Mexico, maybe Mexico City some day? Would Vegas or L.A. be good compromises if you can't get down to Mexico?

(N.A.) I am willing to fight anywhere at any time, my fight camp is currently planning a move to LA from Sydney mainly to broaden the teams opportunities so fighting in LA or Las Vegas would be perfect however our personal jet will still get us back to Sydney as well for when the bell rings.

(D.O.) For those of us who don't know, tell us a little bit about your nickname "Oziel."

(N.A.)Shortly after arriving in Sydney I began spending alot of time with both Louie and another manager Silver Blunt and Siler used to always comment on how powerful he believed I was and one day while I was sparring I could hear him starting a chant with the others in the gym... "Oziel...Oziel...OZIEL!!!" and it kind of stuck.  What many may not know is Oziel is also Spanish for "Might of God"

(D.O.) I see that you already challenged for a title against Jia O Connor in CFA.

(N.A.)Yes I was very proud to have been given a title shot at the age of 24

(D.O.) What were your thoughts going into that?

(N.A.)My thoughts to be honest were not on the fight at all, I knew going in that win or lose I had no contract in place and was unsure what would be next for me.

(D.O.) How did the loss affect you?

(N.A.) It motivated me to not let the business side of the sport get in my way.

(D.O.) Do you feel like you could take him now?

(N.A.) I know I could take him now, as long as a have a strong camp and go in focused on the fight and not focused on when or where I might get my next paycheque I can do anything!

(D.O.) Before we get into your BFT career, I must say at 13-2 record is pretty nice. What do you accredit your success to?

(N.A.)That’s an easy one, my training partners are vital.  I feel I work with some of the best sparring leaders and best coaches in the sport today and without their guidance I would not have achieved half of what I have thus far!

(D.O.)  You made your BFT debut on the first Pay-Per-View card against the Hall of Famer Jake the Snake. Were you at all intimidated? Talk us through your thoughts on the fight.

(N.A.)Not at all, I knew he had a suspect chin and I knew it would be just a matter of time before my power overwhelmed him.  Just like my fight prior to my BFT debut when I took on that whiner Nigel Terry, he and his manager always cried about fair matchups and blah blah blah so Louie and I talked about how we could show him that what you see on paper isn’t what you always get.  That guy had me dominated in 3 of the 4 MMA disciplines and I knocked his ass out halfway through round 1.  When I was offered a shot at Jake, I knew I wanted to challenge myself for the second straight time and once again my power exposed his weak ass chin just like it did to Terry.

(D.O.)  Your last fight was against Bones Jones. You guys fought to a Unanimous Decision and won Fight of the Night. How did that feel?

(N.A.)Very tiring!  And man anytime you get hit over 30 times in any fight, you are gunna feel the effects dude.  Winning the Of the Night award was fantastic but in that fight I felt I didn’t finish like I know I can!  I have 10 finishes in my 13 career victories and I know that’s what the fans want to see, not some boring 3 round decision.  They wanna see someone get their lights turned off, and that’s what I do best and that’s my gameplan in every fight I am in.

(D.O.)  From the BFT 220 card to BFT 226 card, you went from the fight just before the main card to the main event. Were there any nerves involved there?

(N.A.)Nerves may have played a small role in my not hitting my goal but I don’t think it was too much a factor.  Listen when that ref says those words "Then get it on" I lose all ability to hear or see what’s going on around me on the outside of the cage, I am so focused on the guy right in front of me it has little to no effect.

(D.O.)  Did it affect your prep for the fight?

(N.A.)Nope no effect either, I have great guys in my corner who have been the ME many many times, look at Leroy Brown, that dude has to be a legend in Sydney by now, he has been in 22 title fights in his career and having someone on my side with that kind of experience makes me stepping into the Main Event much much easier

(D.O.) Looking forward, you have a fight September 22nd, against Kova Tangis.

(N.A.)Who?   I still have no idea who this guy is??

(D.O.) Haha. How prepared do you feel for this fight?

(N.A.)Dude ain’t even gunna know what hit him! Unless he is bringing a big machete to the table I got nothing to be worried about son. Is that prepared enough for ya!

(D.O.) Any predicitions for the fight?

(N.A.)Nighty Night...

(D.O.) You are just oozing with confidence. Why do you think you were paired up with him?

(N.A.) I just go where the fights are, I honestly can’t comment on BFT’s matchmaking.

(D.O.) With all of this confidence, you must feel like a title shot is coming in soon. How close do you believe you are to a title shot? What do you need to do to get a crack at the title?

(N.A.)Look at the rankings, I am #3 in the division, one more win should put me there but dayum those 2 guys above me are scary dudes, I dont know if I have enough "Oziel" in me to knock those suckers out!

(D.O.) Haha. Since we’re on the subject, is there anyone you want to call out or put on notice?

(N.A.)I would love to one day step into the cage with that pretend HW Champ Hagen Whathisface...

(D.O.) Woah Woah Woah, hold on a sec. What's with calling out the HW Champ? Do you have a beef with him, or do you see him as a weak champ?

(N.A.)Hagen’s leadership and myself are in the same alliance so it was more a case of it being a fight I wouldn’t turn down however since discussing that with you previously a new name has risen and peaked my interest!  My former training partner Marcus Behnder has recently brought his act to BFT and I would love nothing more than to make that fraud squeal like a little girl like I used to when I sparred with him!  The only thing about Behnder that is “loose” is his stool that he will drop in his shorts when I punch him in the face!!

(D.O.) Is a move to the Heavyweight division something you thought much about? I did see that you debut at 265, won quickly, but dropped down to 205 right after and haven't looked back.

(N.A.) I go where the fights are, if that means LHW or HW I don’t care, I don’t wait for the fight to come to me, I come to it!

(D.O.) Alright, that's all that I have for you. You're welcome to leave any final comments.

(N.A.)Thanks for inviting me, make sure you don’t blink when I step into the cage next or you might just miss the crash!

(D.O.) Well listen everyone, that was Nicandro Aloisio. He fights Kova Tangis Sunday Sept 22 in the Hard Knocks Arena in Sydney Australia. The card is a little under construction at the moment, but as of this moment they look like the clear headliners. Until next time, this was Daniel Ocean bringing you Round 0 of the fight.
