12th War of Royalty - Birchmont VS DeVito PREVIEW

Event Preview: 12th War of Royalty
Royal Combat Society
2013-08-17, Sydney, The Bridge
Author:Don Africa

 Christian Birchmont (19-13-0) RCS (7-2-0)

He does not look scary but the way he is reigning right now, the lightweights should be scared! After the great Burgundy departed the RCS universe, Birchmont took the chance and take the belt. He is current on a Submission spree, winning his last 3 fights, all title fights, via different kind of submission.

THE INTERVIEW:

Me: Hey Champ, Good to see you looking good. Hows your training for your upcoming Title Defense?

Birchmont:As always I have been working with my elite team out of Sydney. We are happy with how things are coming along and there are plans to make this one my best finish to date.

Me: Lets talk a little bit about your last defense against Bal Lil. Whats going through your mind going into the 3rd round knowing that you are losing in the judges card?

Birchmont: I just wanted to leave no doub in anybodies mind that I was going to win that fight. I've left it to the judges before and it doesn't work all the time.

Me: Why did you not attempt any takedown in the fight?

Birchmont: I thought I could beat him standing. Not a good gameplan I guess.

Me:Lets not go to your upcoming title defense. What is your thought about Tommy DeVito?

Birchmont:  He's just another notch to my win column.

Me: Can you finish him?

Birchmont: The question should be HOW will I finish him. I have no doubt that this one is going to end early.

Me: Any words you want to say to him?

Birchmont: I have already got pre approval for the venue to have an ambulance in the loading dock.

Me:  Any final words to the RCS Universe?

Birchmont: Thanks to RCS for the opportunity to fight, the fans are going to see one hell of a battle!

VS

Tommy DeVito (9-1-0) RCS (5-1-0)

The man who exemplifies adjustments. After winning all his first 7 fights via K.O. and losing via Uninanimous Decision to Junior Johns, Devito adjusted his approach. From a head hunter to a technical striker, from being brutal to being artistic and from K.O. wins to U.D. wins.

THE INTERVIEW:

Me: Hey Tommy. How’s your training for your upcoming Title Shot? Are you excited about it?

DeVito: Hey, how are you? I’m awesome, thanks for asking *chuckles mildly*…Training? Training is going great. I have a top notch team surrounding me and they are constantly beating the crap out of me to prepare me to take home the gold. Since getting into this fight game, I have had one goal in mind and that is to wear the title and be proclaimed the champ, on August 17th that dream will come true

Me: Lets talk a little bit about your last fight against Ricky Ponting. Did you expect to be that dominant?

DeVito: Ponting has been around a while so his experience was something to look at. I knew going in that I had better wrestling than him and my standup is trouble for anyone, so I was not that worried. He tried getting the fight to the ground, but as everyone saw, he was pretty unsuccessful.  As far as dominating, I just do what I do and good things come. The boys at the Beast II here in Sydney train me up, Petro installs the game plan, and I go out and execute…it’s really that simple. Everything I am is from the great team that surrounds me and the man upstairs that puts the talent in my hands

Me: Let’s go to your upcoming title fight. Do you think, experience will be one of your disadvantages in this fight?

DeVito: Birchmont has been through some wars and he is on a nice run as champ, but I hope he has enjoyed it because that run will be ending once that cage door closes on the 17th.  Experience in the cage is great, but it will only carry you so far. The skills needed to hold the title and the will to win no matter what the cost is what I have inside me and I will see my dreams come to fruition.

Me: Are you confident of getting the title?

DeVito: Do you really need to ask that question? Look, Neil Rooke is a great manager and Birchmont is a top competitor and I give all the respect and accolades that they deserve, but make no mistake…I will be walking out of the Bridge Arean with my hand raised, gold around my waist, and 10,000 fans screaming my name…get your tickets and see history go down!

Me: Any words you want to say to him?

DeVito: I hope you bring it Saturday night, because I’ll be ready

Me: Any final words to the RCS Universe?

DeVito: Just want to thank the fans and Don Africa for a great place to fight and compete. We have a great foundation and an abundance of talent. It is a pleasure to fight for such a jewel…Thanks

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

THIS WILL BE A VERY TECHNICAL FIGHT BUT EXPECT A FINISH HERE! THE EXPERIENCE OF THE CHAMPION WILL BE A VERY BIG FACTOR HERE ESPECIALLY IF DEVITO RETURNS TO HIS BRUTAL ROOTS. BUT THE CHAMPION SHOULD ALSO BE WARY WITH THE POWER OF DEVITO.
