NGF 60 | Bennet vs Mustacho ( 774876 )
UNDER CARD
Light Heavyweight Fight
Ivan Grozni (10-8, 3-6 NGF) v Soa Palelei (9-4, 1-0 NGF)
Well there was a time when Ivan Grozni was considered to be one of the better, title contenders in the light heavyweight division, not anymore.  Grozni looked slow for most of this fight and very uninterested in winning.  He was able to get a early take down, but did nothing and eventually Soa Palelei easily escaped.  Palelei didn’t look great in this one, but he did cut Grozni with a straight right hand and he ended the fight with a uppercut after pushing away from Grozni at 3:59 of the 1st round.

Bantamweight Fight
#8 Ori Jokinen (6-3, 1-2 NGF) v #3 Boris Yurinov (9-4, 7-4 NGF)
This fight was fantastic; it was fast paced, good action from start to finish.  There is one thing that showed from these two guys, they do lack power in their punches.  Boris Yurinov is a very smart fighter and he looked very good in this fight, he was able to land a lot of good strikes and he mixed up his punches and kicks very well.  Ori Jokinen looked good too, but he was often on the receiving end of a kick or a punch and he missed on his counters.  Jokinen was very active, but he just couldn’t land as many strikes as Yurinov.  Jokinen finished 12-29 in head punches, 7-22 in body punches, 10-34 in leg kicks and he was 0-11 in head kicks.  Yurinov finished 24-42 in head punches, 10-27 in body punches and he demolished Jokinen’s legs by going 35-52 in leg kicks.  Yurinov took the fight 30-28, 30-27, 30-27.

Lightweight Fight
#6 Project Ghetto (12-5, 1-0 NGF) v #3 Pasi Nurminen (15-9-2, 4-4 NGF)
This fight was so close, I saw people give it to Project Ghetto and then others gave it to Pasi Nurminen, one things for sure, I would love to see these guys fight again.  Ghetto was able to do damage in the first on the ground.  He got a trip take down early and then spent a few minutes really grinding out the fight, he didn’t land a ton of strikes, but he really made Pasi Nurminen work and easily took round 1.  In round 2 I thought Nurminen was able to find his range and he landed a lot of good stand up strikes in the round.  The fight did go to the mat as Nurminen got a take down in the round, but not a lot of action there.  I thought Nurminen took round 2 fairly easily and the fight was 1-1 heading into round 3.  Ghetto started the round by kicking Nurminen, he landed a few good leg kicks and then a thudding body kick that looked like it stung Nurminen.  Ghetto did get a take down, but Nurminen did get a sweep and worked a submission and he was on top as the round came to an end.  The fight went to the judges and they scored it 29-28 in favor of Project Ghetto.  This fight could have gone to either one and I know Pasi Nurminen was very upset as he left.  Ghetto finished the fight by landing 23 total strikes, just 2 of them on the ground while Nurminen landed 19 total strikes.

Heavyweight Fight
#4 Eric Cooke (7-6, 1-1 NGF) v #10 Vladislav Munchkin (9-3, 2-0 NGF)
Oh I was so excited for this fight, two huge heavyweights with so much power.  This start with Vladislav Munchkin landing 2 huge kicks and then a punch that had Cooke reeling just seconds into the fight.  Eric Cooke then shot in and got a nice double leg take down and he landed in side control.  Cooke then spend the next few minutes really controlling Munchkin, almost smothering him as he looked to wear him out with a few submissions and ground strikes.  At one point Cooke worked into full mount and it looked very bad for Munchkin, but he did manage to get back to half guard.  Just after the 2 minute mark, after some grappling battles, Cooke got back to mount and landed a couple of really hard shots that bloodied up Munchkin and when Cooke landed a massive elbow about the 3 minute mark and then started dropping bombs on Munchkin’s head I thought the fight was over.  Munchkin was rocked and the ref was looking on, almost ready to jump in, but Cooke did something I think was a mistake; he just stopped throwing punches and went for a submission.  Munchkin defended well and he recovered and Cooke looked completely gassed.  The round ended, Cooke was exhausted, Munchkin was too and he was bloody as hell.  In the 2nd, both guys tried to get the fight to the ground, but Munchkin was defending and countering with good kicks that seemed to hurt Cooke and he looked like a completely different fighter.  Around the 2:30 mark of the round, Munchkin landed a big body kick that hurt Cooke and then hit him with a right hook that send Cooke to the mat, but he did a summersault and got right back up.  Then came one of the most violent moments of the season, hell, maybe that’s I’ve seen in this game.  Munchkin shot in and grabbed the rocked Cooke around the waist, he picked him up and started carrying him across the ring, and he got half way across and jumped and slammed Cooke to the mat.  Cooke was unable to brace himself at all and his head went bouncing off the canvas and he lay unconscious.  WOW, for sure KOTN and it might be the KOTS!

Welterweight Fight
#8 Xavier Styles (14-7-1, 1-0 NGF) v #9 Jack Pot (11-5, 0-1 NGF)
Xavier Styles and Jack Pot made their NGF debut in this one and Styles showed why he has 1 championship in his career.  Styles was the more “stylish” fighter in this one, he drilled Jack Pot early with a spinning back fist and he was aggressive from the start, but he was also missing on take down attempts.  Pot was the one who first was able to get a take down, but he wasn’t really able to get the upper hand, Styles was attempting submissions from his back and he really worked from the bottom.  In the 2nd, Pot got the take down and spent the entire round controlling Styles and attempting submissions, Pot finished the fight 0-10 in submissions, 0-6 in round 2.  The 3rd round was like round 2 except it was Styles who was on top.  Styles got the take down, he mounted Pot and he really dominated the position.  Styles worked some submissions and some ground strikes and when the round ended Pot was exhausted and clearly beaten.  In the end Styles attempted to improve his position 31 times, he landed 4-6 ground strikes and he defended 10 submissions from Pot.  Pot just didn’t get enough offense going, he only landed 2 strikes the entire fight and he was out worked standing and on the mat.

MAIN CARD
Bantamweight Fight
#4 Park Doo Man (15-4, 1-0 NGF) v #2 Yoshiteru Goto (11-8-1, 5-2 NGF)
The main card started with a epic fight between to top 10 fighters both looking to get a title shot.  I mean this was a beautiful fight to watch, fantastic stand up action and two guys looking to win and entertain.  Park Doo Man came out aggressive, he was pushing the pace and Yoshiteru Goto was back on his heels a bit and did a lot of leg kicks to try and slow Man down.  At the end of the round, Man did land a nice head kick that looked like it stunned Goto, but the bell rang to save Yoshiteru.  In the 2nd, Goto took the fight in the clinch where he was controlling very well and did land some nice shots.  Man got out of the clinch in a awkward way, he tried to pull guard but he lost his grip and fell out of the clinch on his back, but he scrambled away before Goto was able to really understand what happened.  Man then started landing some really good kicks in the round, a few hurt Goto and seemed to slow him down.  Goto also landed some good shots, let than Man, but one punch landed right on the jaw of Man and it had him stumble backwards.  As the 3rd started, it was thought that this fight was 1-1, so both guys came out and really put on a show.  Man landed some nice shots and then Goto, completely back and forth.  As the round went on, Goto was landing, but Man was clearly getting the more significant strikes.  One punch landed on Goto that sent him backwards, stumbling to the cage.  Man was able to later land a nice head kick but was later drilled in the nose by a hard counter punch from Goto.  The crowd was on their feet and wild in this crazy 3rd round.  The fight went to the judges and they scored it 30-28, 30-29, 30-29 in favor or Park Doo Man, I cannot believe that the judges didn’t give Goto at least 1 round.  This was clearly the FOTN and probably will be in the discussion for FOTS.

Super Heavyweight Fight
#3 Sami Hyypia (12-5-1, 3-1 NGF) v #1 Dmitry Borschev (8-0, 5-0 NGF)
This fight will produce the next title challenger for sure, both guys are deserving, but only the winner will get the opportunity.  Borschev was the one who came out and was the aggressor; he tried a few kicks and landed a hard body shot that had Hyypia moving backwards.  Later it was another body kick that looked like it hurt Hyypa and he was breathing very heavy.  Around the 2 minute mark it became clear that Borschev was just on another level as he was overwhelming Hyypia with strikes, Sami tried to counter, but he really had no answer for Borschev and he just looked confused.  At one moment, Borschev just rushed at Hyypia with a combination of some sort, not landing, but Hyypia could only cover up and even after missing, Borschev was in no danger of a counter attack from Hyypia and he just stood there and threw more strikes.  One of those strikes was a big right hand that knocked down Hyypia at 3:20 of the round.  Hyypia scrambled back to his feet, wobbly and clearly rocked.  Hyypia stepped away and dropped his arms, shaking them and trying to shake out the cobwebs, but as he did that, Borschev shot in and landed a massive left hand that knocked Hyypia out cold!  Brutal finish!  Hyypia finished the fight landing just 1 strike and attempting only 8 as Borschev finished 9-15 in head punches, 8-12 in body punches, 13-14 in leg kicks and 4-4 in body kicks.  Hyypia will need some rest time after this crushing defeat as Dmitry Borschev will get a title fight.

Lightweight Title Fight
#1 James Jameson (12-4, 7-4 NGF) v C-Tolek Banan (15-1, 8-0 NGF)
James Jameson got is 2nd opportunity for a title against Tolek Banan, unfortunately for him, he got the same result.  Tolek Banan is maybe the best fighter in the NGF, he is a champion who never seems to take a fight lightly, he is always well prepared and he always seems to have a game plan that will make others look like they are fighting for their first time.  Jameson came out and he looked completely different then we’ve seen him look, almost like he was nervous or intimidated by Banan.  Tolek came out, quick and dangerous as always, he battered Jameson, he picked him apart, and he landed head punches at will finishing 15-15 in them.  Jameson could only cover up for this fight, every once in a while throwing a defensive punch to try and keep Banan away.  To add something new to his resume, Banan as he saw Jameson just covering up, Banan grabbed Jameson around the waist, picked him up and slammed him to the mat, it was clear that Jameson was already out as Banan landed 2 more strikes.  Banan almost didn’t work up a sweat in this one and he will sit and wait for his next opponent.  Jameson will have to watch this film and see what can he do to improve and get ready for his next shot, but first, learn and grow and beat your next opponent.

Co-Main Event:
Light Heavyweight Title Fight
#1 Rogerio Mustacho (10-5, 9-5 NGF) v C-Scotty Bennet (17-0, 4-0 NGF)
Well it was kinda thought that this fight was going to be next to impossible for Rogerio Mustacho to win if he wasn’t 100% perfect, you have to be to beat Scotty Bennet.  Mustacho came out and he looked good, he was moving well and he didn’t back down from anything, but Scotty Bennet is just on and different planet.  Bennet stood there, Mustacho was moving in quickly and out, landed a strike and missed some, but Bennet reached out and clinched up with Mustacho.  Even then, Mustacho landed 3 nice punches, a uppercut and then a hook, but Bennet was un-phased.  Bennet then did what he can do so well, he was clinched with Mustacho and he controlled the fight, he was holding Mustacho, making him work really hard to try and free his hands or defend a strike.  Over 2 minutes Bennet put his weight on Rogerio, held him, and wore him down and then Bennet started to land, he started to get his punches going, snapping Mustacho’s head back.  By the end of the round, Mustacho was breathing very heavily and Bennet looked pretty fresh still.  The 2nd saw some very good stand up fighting from both guys, Bennet did land some heavy shots, but Mustacho was doing a nice job of landing kicks and punches, but a lot of them just didn’t look like they did much damage.  When the 3rd started, Bennet came out in full force and he looked to end the fight right away.  Bennet connected with several kicks and punches and he had the exhausted Mustacho on the defense.  Bennet was able to land a hook near the top of a ducking Mustacho’s head that snapped his head sideways and staggered him.  As Mustacho was rocked, Bennet moved in for the kill, first a uppercut then a big hook landed on the jaw and sent Mustacho crashing to the floor, Bennet jumped on top and this fight was over at 2:09 of the 3rd round and STILL YOUR LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION, SCOTTY BENNET!

Main Event
Light Heavyweight Fight
#3 Dongmin Oh (18-3, 2-1 NGF) v #2 Brett Riverboat (14-3, 9-3 NGF)
After 2 epic title fights, this card concludes with a #1 contender fight between Dongmin Oh and Brett Riverboat, my lord this card is awesome!  The numbers came back with over 36,000 PPV sales so not taking into consideration the number of parties and people that did watch, and I would say that you could double that number for views, so at least 72,000 people got a chance to see these fantastic fighters in action, they certainly walked away very happy.  These guys touched gloves and it was Oh who immediately attacked, he fired off a series of kicks that Brett Riverboat was able to defend, and a few punches that landed.  Riverboat countered by clinching up with Oh and then the two battled for a minute, with both guys landing nice shots in the clinch.  Riverboat later countered again by taking the fight in the clinch, he looked a little frustrated as Oh really was able to avoid most of the big shots again from Brett.  In the 2nd it was Dongmin taking the fight to the clinch, and he landed the first significant strike, a uppercut that cut Riverboat.  Ok, who had the 2nd round in their office pool for when the first cut would happen?  You knew someone was going to get cut in this fight, but you just didn’t know which round.  Riverboat did manage to break the clinch and at this point, 1 round in and 2 minutes already gone in the 2nd, it felt like Riverboat was very confused on what he needed to do.  He was losing the stand up and the clinch battle in many eyes, and possibly the judges.  Then for the next 2 minutes, Oh dominated, landing leg kicks, a few knocking Riverboat right off his feet, a few punches, but most importantly Oh was frustrating Riverboat and not taking any damage.  Riverboat decided to try the clinch again, this time he finally landed a few shots; one body punch looked to really hurt Oh.  As the round ended it was very close, but I thought it was 2-0 of Oh.  In the 3rd, it was Oh coming out aggressive again, but a counter punch from Riverboat really looked like it changed things.  Oh was staggered a big and he was blinking is right eye, we’re not sure if he took a thumb or a finger, but he was clearly having trouble.  Riverboat saw the opportunity and he rushed in and pushed Oh back against the cage.  Now this time, Riverboat had the position to do damage, he started to land nice shots and he was all over Oh, firing shots that were mostly blocked by Oh, but they were making him work and tire out.  At 1:20 Riverboat pushed away from Oh and Oh just missed a head kick, but it threw him off balance and Riverboat countered with a hook that landed perfectly on the jaw of Oh and he went down.  Riverboat jumped on top and rained down ground strikes and after Oh could only cover up the ref jumped in and stopped this fight at 1:36 of the 3rd round.  What a come from behind win, what a fight!
