The MMA Today - Francis Stark

Fighter profile of Francis Stark by Jack LaBear

Welcome all you MMA fans out there, I'm Phil Conners and this is the MMA Show. This is where we bring you some of the best fighters in Los Angeles and explore what they are all about. This week we will be spending some time with Francis Stark. Francis fights in UPF-LA's middleweight division, and is rising through the ranks looking to earn his shot at the championship belt. Ladies and gentlemen, Let's hear it for the heavy handed Francis Stark.

[Francis enters the set in his bathing suit, tank top, and ray-bans.]

Phil: Welcome to the show Francis, or do you go by Frank?

Francis: Nah, Frank reminds me of hot dogs man. I don't like hot dogs.

Phil: [chuckles] I know exactly what you mean, you never know what is really inside a hot dog [chuckles]. So Francis, it looks like you've just come from the beach, or are you planning to go after the show? For those of you that don't know it, our studio is right here on Santa Monica Blvd, just 6 blocks from the beach [chuckles].

Francis: [smiles] I just came from the beach and I plan on going right back when I'm done here! I'm originally from New York. When I signed with UPF-LA I committed a move to out here and I knew I had to take advantage of the sun, hot weather and beautiful girls.

Phil: Well you look like you have gotten yourself a nice tan, do you ever get a sunburn at the beach, and does that make it hard to train or fight?

Francis: Yea! I'm sunburnt all the time man! Doesn't bother me one bit, sure it hurts but we're in a painful sport to begin with!

Phil: I'd love to go to the beach with you, [chuckles] but Rita just melts out in the sun. So how has LA been treating you, have you made many friends, met any new girls; or are you married?

Francis: Well, I've been lucky that some of my training partners from New York, Aegor Rivers and Roman Colt, have both been signed by organizations here in L.A. as well. Together the three of us were able to get a sick pad over here near the beach. No real time to make any other friends outside of training, and no wife to hold me down or hold me back!

Phil: Focus on your career, always a smart move. You know Francis, I saw your fight at UPF 3, when you faced Jones. It was a majority draw, with one judge saying you won, did you think you had that fight won at the final bell?

Francis: I got robbed that fight, I actually did some damage. All jones did was shoot double legs and then sit in my guard; he wasn't even ground and pounding! Whenever we stood up, I let him have it while he wimpered away. I could have done a lot more to win it, and I should haven't left it in the judges hands, because there all hacks.

Phil: It was a good fight to watch, I loved it. Have you thought about a rematch?

Francis: I would love a re-match, but I'm pretty sure Jones will run away from it!

Phil: I don't know, Jones seems like a pretty tough customer [chuckles], he doesn't seem the type to run from a challenge. Maybe we can get him on the show and find out. OK, besides Jones [chuckles], if UPF-LA were an openweight org, who in the org would you most like to fight?

Francis: Oh man, that's a tough question. I think I'd have to answer with another re-match, Ouji Eiichi. The man has TKO'd every opponent he fought; including me. I'd love to go in there again and attempt to break that crazy streak.

Phil: Didn't you fight him for the belt at the old Cage Blaze org, back in May. Where do you think you went wrong in that fight?

Francis: I underestimated him. I thought he was an old geezer. I was wrong; and i paid for it.

Phil: Yes, I think many people have under estimated him. Eiichi is a tough opponent for anyone, have you been training for him anticipating a rematch?

Francis: Nah. I train just to be a better fighter until I know who my next victim is. Then it gets serious.

Phil: Well it looks like we are just about out of time. As per custom, we've saved the last 30 seconds for you. Is there anything you would like to say to anyone out there? Anything goes.

Francis: Anything goes? Well then, to the coward who backed out of my fight, he knows who he is, don't think you're going to get very far ducking me like that! Someone needs to step up and fight me, because from here on out I'm not losing again.

Phil: That's what I like, confidence! Thanks for coming on the show Francis. Ok folks, that brings to the end of this weeks show. Ladies and gentlemen, let's hear it for the heavy handed Francis Stark....Don't forget to join us here next week, same time, same place, when we will be spending some time with a fighter with a big mouth. That's right, we'll have on the show the "Bigmouth of the Month" winner for June Tao Chai Bangerang. Until next week, this is Phil Conners saying "Don't Forget, Don't Submit"......So long.
