The MMA Today - Carlos Jos Ricci

Fighter profile of Carlos Jos Ricci by Jack LaBear

Hello everyone, I'm Phil Conners and I'm here to bring you another episode of "The MMA Today Show" where we bring to you some of the best fighters in Los Angeles and explore what they are all about. Today we will be spending some time with Carlos Jos Ricci, Carlos is the UPF-LA's new light heavyweight Champion. Ok folks, put your hands together for Carlos Jos Ricci.

[Carlos Jos Ricci enters the set looking chipper and smiling. He waves to the audience as he approaches Phil, shakes his hand and takes a seat.]

Phil: Welcome to the show Carlos.

Carlos: Thanks for having me.

Phil: So where is your belt Carlos? I figured you'd be wearing it.

Carlos: Oh you mean this belt? [he raises his shirt exposing the championship belt]

Phil: Something inside me told me you'd be wearing it. [chuckles] So, how does it feel to finally be wearing a championship belt?

Carlos: I'll tell you what. It feels amazing. But I did it for my son. My last title shot over in Hilo I told my boy I'd come home with the belt and did not. This time before my fight he said to me "Daddy are you ever going to actually win the belt?" So I had to bring it home. [laughs]

Phil: A little boy? I didn't know you were a dad. Is that your only child?

Carlos: As far as I know. [laughs] Just kidding. Actually he is my only child, but my wife and I were thinking of having another.

Phil: Ok, so we found out you are a dad. Why don't you tell us something else about yourself, not related to MMA?

Carlos: Um. Let's see. I like to eat. I love sex. I don't like Hugo Llorente. I voted for Obama.

Phil: Hugo Llorente huh? Didn't you face him for the title over in UPF-Hilo?

Carlos: I sure did. And that SOB kicked my ass. Now, I had a bad gameplan but that is no excuse. But the next time we fight that bitch is going down. [laughs] Of course, I said that before the last fight too.

Phil: I guess that explains the "Hugo is a Bitch!" shirt.

Carlos: Well win lose or draw he is still a bitch. [laughs]

Phil: So Carlos, what do you see in your future? I mean you've got the title, what's next?

Carlos: Well the very next thing is training for my victory over Robbie Stone then start preparing for the Ultimate Pit Fighter of the Year tournament. I hope I get to face Hugo there. [laughs]

Phil: So, if you win the half million are you going to retire?

Carlos: What? No! Why would I do that? Gotta come back and be the returning champion to become Ultimate Pit Fighter of the Year in 2014 as well.

Phil: Well I wish you the best of luck with that. Let's talk about your upcoming fight with Robbie Stone. How do you see that fight going? Any prediction for us?

Carlos: You mean my upcoming massacre of will be left of Stone? I see this ending before my dinner gets cold. Robbie is impatient he could not beat the fly off of a horse's ass. He will be eating his dinner from a straw after I finish with him.

Phil: Boy those are some strong words.

Carlos: And these are strong arms. [flexes him arms]

Phil: What kinda fight are you expecting? Are you expecting a stand up war or you think he'll go to the ground with you?

Carlos: Well I don't wanna give away too much info on my gameplan. But, if Robbie knows what good for him he will keep this one standing. But poor little Robbie is a bitch when it comes to defending my takedowns. And will spend most the fight on his back with me ground and pounding his face in.

Phil: If you manage to retain your belt, who do you feel is the biggest challenge for you in your division?

Carlos: If I retain my belt? You did mean to say WHEN I retain my belt, right? Anyways, the division is really growing and there are a few decent opponents but the only one to stick out when you say that is Zemli Funtov. He is a damn good wrestler. I'm sure he'll do better than Robbie could even think of. [laughs]

Phil: Wow look at the time. Rita, my producer is over on the side here franticly waving her arms trying to tell me to wrap it up. [chuckles] Ok, So I guess I'll have to call it. Go ahead Carlos the last 30 seconds are all yours, anything goes.

Carlos: Well I'd like to give a shout out to my son Jos Ricci Jr, and his mother my lovely wife, Maria. I'd also like to thank the UPF-LA management for allowing me to fight in their org. And thanks to you Phil for having me on the show. I gotta go train now.

Phil: Well folks, that does it for this weeks show. Come back next week, same time, when we will be visiting with Martin Myers, Martin is an excellent boxer fighting in the welterweight division. So until next week this is Phil Conners saying "Don't Forget, Don't Submit".....So Long
