 BFT 209 Review

Middleweight - Peekay "Pretty Boy" Williams Unanimous Decisioned Former champion Marty "Manchester" Mcghee.

The first round got started and Williams looked like the far more aggressive person in the exchanges. Mcghee had done his best avoiding any serious damage and brought the fight to the ground. Once on the ground, both guys seemed to be waiting for the right moment to strike. Mcghee was able to control the pace of the fight with some good ole fashion lay and pray. With about 30 seconds left in the round, Williams was able to flip over and get into mount! He didn't get anything significant off, but may that was exciting. The second round got going and Williams looked as sharp as he did in the beginning of the last one. He was able to take things down this time and got into that top position he achieved at the end of the first. Mcghee didn't appreciate that and reversed the position quickly. He held him down until the ref stood things back up. Williams choose his shots well on the feet again until bringing things back down to the mat. Mcghee threw out a few solid shots before the round came to a close. The third got going with Williams just completely outclassing Mcghee at the distance. Mcghee was starting to get a few good shots in there, but it was nothing compared to what Williams was landing. Mcghee was able to wait and land a solid takedown. But the problem he had, as he did the entire night, is that he was too passive on top and the ref stood things back up. They went at it a little until Williams took the fight to the mat and rode the fight out.

What's next for "Pretty Boy"? The 46 fight vet is looking at a two fight winning streak. Interesting fights with other vets would be against Axel Whitecoat, Gwyn Jones, and Darren Sparks. I personally like a match-up with Legionarivs Sakara, but if he really wants to raise his stock, a fight with Ben Zanotto would be huge.

Heavyweight - Two time former title challenger "Broomstick" Dingo Monster KO'ed Mike McCallum with strikes at 1:54 in round number 2.

McCallum started off quickly getting a takedown. He tried to work off some significant ground and pound, while Monster had a few good submission attempts. Overall the red had enough and stood things up. It didn't take McCallum to take things down to the ground with a superb hip toss. McCallum kept on Monster with the ground and pound, but monster wasn't just gunna lay there and get hit. He was able to get a solid sweep off, and just held on until the ref stood things up. Then at the end of the round McCallum dragged the fight to the mat again. The second round got started and it appeared to be more of the same; McCallum brought the fight to the ground with a monster takedown. McCallum was working on advancing when Monster swept from the butterfly guard and landed himself on top. Monster worked over some beautiful ground and pound. He was able to get a serious cut on top of McCallum before he put him down.

What's next for Monster? Given his past history, Laguna Lunaris would be an interesting fight. "The Warmaster" Barnett would be a pretty cool. A bout with Brock Lesnar would be interesting for either man.

Co-Main - Welterweight - Former champion "The Kraken" Jermaine Choake Submit former title challenger "Brown and Pound" Ball Sack Jr. with a triangle choke at 3:22 of the very first round.

Enter the Kraken. Brought things to the mat right away, missed on some ground and pound and 3 submission attempts later, he was able to walk away the victor. I mean Ball had nothing really significant against Jermaine. The former champ looks hell bent on getting his title back.

What's next for the former champ? Well, after putting away a former challenger like that, I want to say another title shot, but it's kind of hard to warrent another title shot so quickly. A fight with another former title challenger in Chumba Wumba would be advantagous, or a rematch with another champ in Jake Shields. Other fun bouts include Will DeFrank and Iqbal Al Mamood.

Main Event - Heavyweight - Former title challenger "Fat pig" Kim Jong knocked out two time former challenger Pete "War Machine" Tippin with knees at 1:12 in round 1.

This one was real exciting. Tippin landed a solid hook that cut open Kim, Kim then brings the fight into the clinch and cuts open Pete with a solid knee. Tippin breaks off.. or at least tries to as Jong brings things back into the clinc ahd worked Tippin over some more. Tippin gets rocked by a huge knee right on the button and gets put down with a few more.

What's next for the main event winner? It's hard to say. Jong has some great credentials on his fight record, but hasn't been too consistant as of recently. He appears to be the next in line for a title shot, but I'm still not terribly convinced. "Big Nog" Nogueira has been unbelieveable as of recent, a win over him would make a title shot more convincing for me. "Demolition Man" Overeem may also fulfill that impressive victory requirement for another shot at the title.
