BFT 194 Khan vs Nitschke Review

Welterweight - Former title challenger "Brown and Pound" Ball Sack Jr. KO'ed Iqbal "Mamute" Al Mamood with punches at 1:19 in the round 1.

The emphasis here is on don't blink. Sack was swinging hard and landing, where as Al Mamood was swinging. A solid 4 punch combo had Al Mamood dazed and a few more brutal shots sent him to the hospital. Some great shots by Ball.

Lightweight - Jacob Smith submitted Curt "The War" Warburton with an armbar at 1:28 in round 1.

The fight got started, and Smith went for the clinch. Warburton didn't like it there at all, so he immediately took things down. From there Smith moved the fight from side control to gaurd. In gaurd, he kept throwing submissions up uptil he locks down an armbar that looked like he was going break it. It was a quick finish, but man Smith had that locked in tight.

Middleweight - Ben Zanotto knocked out Spartacus "The Thracian" Gladiator with strikes at 45 seconds in round 1.

Zanotto landed a cross that cuts Gladiator open right away. From there, he landed his shots well until he decided to tkae things down. Gladiator hit his head on the way down and got dazed from there. Zanotto worked a few shots in there until the ref had had enough. A quick victory for Zanotto.

Co-Main - Weltwerweight - Chumba "La Bamba" Wumba technically knocked out former title holder Jake Shields with a cut at 3:29 in round 3.

Here we go, a fight that lasted more than 2 minutes. Wumba was landing shots fast and well for the first part of the round. He kept it from in and out of the clinch, opening a cut with some short shots. Shields was able to take the fight to the ground and tried to finish it breifly, but got up soon after things turned on him. A slap opened up the cut more. A SLAP. The next round had more clinch action from Wumba, and he was in control. He worked away at it until the round ended. He got some great shots off, and even opened up the cut on Shield's head up more. Shields was able to hold on until the end of the round, but man he was a bloody mess. The next round started, and Wumba looked in control at the distance once again. Another good uppercut put some work on that cut. From there, Wumba went back to the clinchand landed some great shots. The ref jumped there after Shields got rocked. The fight probably would have ended soon after, but better safe than sorry. Shields had lost a lot of blood and things were just crazy. Nice victory by Wumba.

Main Event - Middleweight Title - Damian Nitschke knocked out Amir "Scorpion" Khan with strikes at 4:59 in round 2 and dethroned him to become the new Middleweight Champion.

Right away, the Nitschke brought the fight to the ground. Things looked bad for him soon after, when Khan was able to sweep into full mount. The two of them rolled around continuing to exchange positions, shots, and submission attempts. When round two started, it was more of the same. Nitschke was able to take things to the mat again and neither guy seemed too opposed to the idea. The two of them stayed in their respective positions fr the most part of the round. Khan worked hard on the bottom to try and get some submissions off, but Nitschke was pressing his will on hiim hard. He was landing with ground and pound and Khan was not very comfortable with those shots landing. I mean he was definately in pain after taking the shots. Nitschke kept on him working hard. Khan definately was rocked at the end of the round, and Nitschke saw his opening. He landed shot after shot until he was able to finish things off. With one second left in the round. I mean talk about an ending. What a way to cap a 6 fight winning spree to become the eleventh Middleweight champion in BFT history.
