UPF 26: Fossmo vs. Zero was a mixed martial arts event held by Ultimate Pit Fighting at the sold out Hard Knocks Casino on March 16, 2013.

Official Fight Card

-[Bantamweight bout]: Mully Lombard def. Kendrick Stagliano via Submission (Rear Naked) at 3:58 of round 3.

-[Review]: Despite the dominant performance that Lombard put on display here, Stagliano landed some wicked shots to the head and to the body. In the end, Lombard was simply more effective everywhere the fight took place. Excellent performance for Mully Lombard who finds himself suddenly back in the win column.

-[Bantamweight bout]: Victor Stevens def. Choel Six via KO (Punches) at 0:23 of round 1.

-[Review]: The former K-1 fighter needed only half a minute to do what he does best- land his damaging strikes and knock Choel Six out cold. What a performance for the seemingly reborn Victor Stevens.

-[Bantamweight bout]: Test Ninja def. Jill Lauren via Submission (Kimura) at 2:33 of round 1.

-[Review]: Jill Lauren appeared to be on the way to stopping Test Ninja but Ninja did what he does best and took Lauren down. From there it was child's play to lock in the fight ending kimura and force the tap.

-[Bantamweight bout]: Tony Goldman def. Mike Messner via Submission (Arm Triangle) at 1:29 of round 2.

-[Review]: Early in the first round, Mike Messner seemed to be controlling this fight. He was landing ample strikes to his foe and really seemed to be on his way towards a finish. But then, of course, Goldman got the takedown and changed the direction of the entire fight. He went hunting for his submissions and eventually locked one in early in the second round.

-[Welterweight bout]: Glin Burman def. Casey Jones via TKO (Punches) at 1:05 of round 3.

-[Review]: It was apparent throughout the fight that Casey Jones had one real shot at winning this fight and that he was dependent upon keeping Glin Burman tied up against the cage or on the ground. Burman rocked Jones early but found himself controlled for the next round and a half. Early in the third round, Burman stormed his foe and landed shot after shot, staved off the takedown, and finished the fight with a wild flurry of strikes ending in an overhand right.

-[Light-heavyweight bout]: David Maher def. Sailo Damtea via TKO (Strikes) at 0:49 of round 2.

-[Review]: Deamtea had his way with Maher in the first round but quickly found himself on the wrong end of Maher's combinations early in the secound.

-[Heavyweight bout]: Feodor King def. James Ortiz Jr via Submission (Arm Triangle) at 0:25 of round 1.

-[Review]: Feodor King snapped a four fight losing streak lightning quick by taking down and submitting the veteran, James Ortiz Jr.

-[Light-heavyweight Championship bout]: Hugo Llorente def. Willie Leak via Submission (Armbar) at 1:59 of round 4 to retain the light-heavyweight championship of the world!

-[Review]: The youngest of the three champions active on the card, Hugo Llorente really needed to prove his mettle here on his first title defense. He did so in flying colors. Although the challenger managed to take him down in each round through superior wrestling, the submission game went to the champion. Both fighters competed for four hard rounds to submit the other but the champion was just too skilled.

-[A word with the champion]

Interviewer: Alright I'm here with the winner, Hugo Llorente. Hugo, congratulations on successfully defending your title. With this victory you advance your record to 4-0 which currently makes you the only undefeated champion in the company. How good does that feel for you?

Llorente: It feels great, thank you! However, I was not very happy with my performance in the fight against Leak. I let him take me down way too easily and I think it's obvious that he was scared of my lethal kicks. I am a fighter who likes to keep the fight standing and look for the knockout, but he didn't allow that. Fortunately, I have a pretty decent ground game and I managed to get a submission later on I plan on staying undefeated as the title holder for a long time, though, and do whatever training is necessary in order to accomplish that.

Interviewer: It would currently appear that Carlos Jos Ricci may stand as the only available contender to challenge you for your title. How worthy do you think he is as a challenger and how do you think that fight will play out?

Llorente: Well, he is coming off a win so fair enough. I'd accept that fight. He has a great ground game so obviously he will be afraid of my striking as well. If he is next in line for me, he will be my toughest opponent yet. So yes, I think he is a worthy challenger. IF there was one thing that I could request right now it's that I'm given time for a good rest. I have a few lingering injuries from the fight and I will need some time to recover, rest, and get back into training to make a good fight for the fans and for UPF.

Interviewer: I'm sure that can be arranged. Hugo, do you have anything to say to the fans, to the company, or to anyone else?

Llorente: Yes, thanks for the support everyone! Unlucky break for Leak but to be honest he didn't really have much of a chance in the fight to begin with. He relied on his lay n pray and that backfired; there was no way for him to win this fight. But hey, thanks to him for actually turning up!

Interviewer: Hugo Llorente ladies and gentlemen!

-[Middleweight Championship bout]: Tony Brown def. Scott Banks via Submission (Anaconda Choke) at 0:52 of round 1 to retain the middleweight championship of the world!

-[Review]: Tony Brown proved why he is the champion; he took the challenger down and submitted him on the first try in under a minute. I would make a Ronda Rousey comparison here but something tells me anacondas aren't her thing. No pun intended.

-[A word with the champion]

Interviewer: Alright I'm here with the winner, Tony Brown. Tony, congratulations on winning what is arguably your seventh consecutive title defense. Did you expect to secure such a quick finish over the challenger, Scott Banks?

Brown: It went better than I expected. I got him to the ground really quickly, which was critical since I was eating big shots. On the ground, he didn't have any resistance; I passed the guard easily to mount and I was looking for my favorite submission. But he turned a bit so I had to switch to an anaconda choke.

Interviewer: Who do you see as next in line for a shot at your title?

Brown: I'm not really sure about the next fight but I would like time to train for a while. Henkka Reem did say he wanted to fight me but we'd have to wait for his performance in his upcoming fight. I don't really bother myself with contenders since someone will always come after me while I'm the champ.

Interviewer: Alright thanks a lot. Tony Brown ladies and gentlemen!

-[Heavyweight Championship bout]: Helge Fossmo def. Sub Zero via TKO (Cut) at 0:13 of round 5 to retain the heavyweight championship of the world!

-[Review]: Heavyweight champion Helge Fossmo pulverized the challenger on the ground through vicious ground strikes while hunting for the submission. He pounded Zero's face into a bloody mess forcing yet another stoppage due to the severity of the cuts on an opponent's face. This marks the second consecutive TKO (Cut) stoppage for Fossmo or the fourth career stoppage due to cut.

-[A word with the champion]

Interviewer: Alright I'm here with the winner, Helge Fossmo. Helge, congratulations on an outstanding performance. Were you surprised at how easily you were able to take Sub Zero down not once but multiple times throughout the course of the fight?

Fossmo: Thanks for having me. To be honest with you, I knew it would be pretty easy to take him down. He's essentially a stand-up style of fighter. He has never tried to take any of his previous opponents to the ground so I figured the ground was where I needed to be.

Interviewer: Did anything surprise you about the challenger?

Fossmo: Yeah I was surprised he didn't have a bigger heart to fight through the pounding that I gave him. [chuckles]

Interviewer: Does it disappoint you at all to have the fight end due to a cut? Would you have preferred a more dramatic finish or is any victory a good outcome?

Fossmo: Come on dude, did you even watch the fight? I beat his arse but I would have preferred it to be a KO or TKO. I love my knockouts- to see a guy drop like a sack of potatoes is a great feeling.

Interviewer: Who do you have your eyes set on now, if anybody?

Fossmo: I think “Tapout” Arnold Vegh has great skills to match my skill set but UPF president Dale Saw gets the last say on who I fight. I would never back down from a fight, though. I love fighting so if you put anybody in front of me, I'll fight them. After all, I am the Ultimate Pit Fighting champion.

Interviewer: Anything else to say, Helge?

Fossmo: Big up!! Hellraiser Alliance and thanks to my great manager, Mr Copper!

Interviewer: Helge Fossmo ladies and gentlemen!
