HEROIC
2013-03-16, London, Camden Conference Centre
Author:

Hello everyone I is “Sunshine” Weston Markson along with my partner Rudy “The Box” Knife and we are here to bring you HMMA 69’s preview. HMMA 69 takes place Saturday the 16th of March in the Camden conference center of London.  This is going to be the biggest card to date, the best fighters in ALL of HMMA will be here this weekend to throwdown.  We have all 5 champions, and 4 championships being decided.   This will be a night to remember for a long time to come will new Hero’s emerge or will the current hero’s solidify their legacies and continue their path of destruction?

Rudy:  Woooooooooo! Cant wait Weston, cant wait,  I am so excited for this coming weekend Saturday night will be huge! And im not talking about the bulge in my panties bro! IM talking about HMMA 69….well actually that’s quite fitting maybe I am talking about whats below, but no seriously HMMA 69 the champs are back to defend their titles, another great PPV and Fedor has a superfight this is awesome!  Speaking of Fedor did anyone see the interview he did it was great I learned a lot about the 3 time sambo champion.  Eeeh lets do this.

MAIN EVENT

1st Fedor "Sambist" Alexandrov (17-4) v  Kapitan Tutan (18-4)

Weston:  The main event of HMMA 60 is a light-heavyweight superfight between HMMA’s LHW champion Fedor Alexandrov and Kapitan Tutan.  This fight came about when the original opponent for Alexandrov decided to go compete in a tournament lets all root for Ravia in that tournament and when he comes back a huge fight will be waiting.  When the original fight plan was canceled Tutan stepped up to the plate and offered to come in and test Alexandrov in what could be the biggest fight in his career.  Tutan hasn’t fought since October of 2012, but he is very dangerous and on a five fight win streak.  Alexandrov HMMA’s champion came to me backstage and said, “we are waiting for surprises from that blackbelt,  he is tough guy,  we think that he will try to make this fight a stand up fight,  maybe he wants some clinch. I won't allow him to dictate his rules.” I asked him how the training was going for this fight and if he had any nagging injuries “training is almost good. if that stupid tickers were not there in game - it would be fantastic.”  Today he got that wish although it could be too late.  I also asked him for a fight prediction and he looked at me with the most fearsome and scary look I have ever seen I swear I thought he was going to eat me alive…thank god im not a bear.  Alexandrov’s prediction…. “alexandrov via TKO or death”  After I started to walk away he grabbed my shoulder and said one more thing….”love each other”.   What I gained from my encounter?  The knowledge that Fedor Alexandrov is ready for this fight and if need be ready to fight to the death.

Rudy:   You mean to tell me people actually talk to you Weston?  Enough no one believes that,  but what I do believe is that this is going to be one of the greatest fights in HMMA history.   People I don’t know if you realize this but Fedor Alexandrov has never won a fight by decision, ALL 17 of his wins have been by finish 12 by (t)KO, and 5 by submission.   This has led him to be the most popular LHW in the fight game today.   He always puts on exciting fights, and looks to ground his opponents and open up with strikes looking to end the fights with punishing GNP or submissions.  His opponent is also a finisher having finished all but 3 of his 18 wins 12 of those wins by submission, and 3 by (t)KO.  Tutan is dangerous wherever this fight goes because he is the more well-rounded fighter, he could potentially submit Alexandrov on the ground or use his standup advantage to pick him apart on the feet.

Prediction:  I don’t know this one is hard to decide I am leaning towards Alexandrov.

CO-MAIN Event

1st Julius "Lights Out" Lawson (24-11-1) v 2nd  Fedor"Cannon" Vladimirov (12-3) 265lbs title

Weston:  The CO-MAIN event is a heavyweight title fight between champion Julius Lawson and challenger Fedor Vladimirov.  Lawson is on one of the most astonishing runs in HMMA history a four fight win streak, but the real fun came when he upset what was the champion French Toast for the HW title.  Lawson came into that fight a huge underdog, but came out champion, after that his first title defense again Lawson came in as a slight underdog, and once again proved the doubters wrong.  Now  Lawson is out to prove he can once again win a big fight, some may even think he is an underdog in this fight but with power like Lawson’s you can never count him out.   Fedor Vladimirov comes into this one on a six fight win streak including a win in his HMMA debut against,  Dick Niaz in a fight that was for #1 contendership.  With the win in that fight Fedor finds himself in rare company as a challenger for a HMMA title in just his second appearance in the organization.

Rudy:  This is a fight between the two most powerful men in HMMA this is going to have a lot of tension as any moment any strike could end the fight.  I imagine we will see a feeling out in this fight and both men looking to get the timing down, followed by a shocking finish.   With 23 out of Lawson’s 24 wins being by (t)KO, and Fedor having 12 out of his 12 wins by KO I expect both men will stand and trade, but Lawson does have a suspect ground game some would say but no fighter has been able to test that yet.  Will Fedor try and test the ground game or stick to his strengths and go to war with Lawson and see who’s chin fails first?

Prediction:  Wont pick against Lawson he continues his improbable run.

MAIN CARD

3rd Gun Slinga (12-5) v 5th "The Half Naked Man!" Mr Stigu (23-16)

Weston:  The last fight before heading into the main events is a fight most likely to produce the next challenger for the heavyweight title.  Mr. Stigu we last saw challenging for that very title in a KO loss in just under two minutes im sure he would love another opportunity, Slinga  the man pundits are considering the favorite to be the next in line is riding a three fight win streak having won all of his fights under the HMMA banner.

Rudy:  We have another great fight here where the fans and fighters will have a lot of tension that could blow like a super volcano at any moment.  Two great heavyweight knockout artists,  with 29 knockouts between the two of them, two guys who go out and leave it all in the cage at the end of the night.  What we will see here is I predict a standup war, but don’t be totally surprised if Slinga takes this to the ground at some point.  Which one of these men goes home with a huge opportunity ahead of them and which goes to the hospital with a concussion?

Prediction:  I think Slinga will win the fight by late TKO

1st "The Sterilizer" Jean Pierre Babin (15-4) v 2nd  Begbie Franco  (14-5)     185 lbs title

Weston:  In the next fight middleweight champion Jean Pierre Babin defends his championship against number one contender Begbie Franco.  When Franco first came to HMMA he told Wilson you are looking at the future middleweight champion.  Four fights later he has the opportunity to make his dreams come true, to prove he is more then just optimistic and confident but also a soothsayer, but taking on the champion is no easy task. Jean Pierre Babin may have only two fights in HMMA but both were huge, the first was against former two time champion and HoF member Sparbot, and the second was against a fighter who had a ten fight win streak snapped when he won the middleweight title.  Now the toughest challenge he has had yet, defending his title against the very game Begbie Franco.

Rudy:  This is probably the fight im most looking forward to, im a huge fan of both of these fighters,  I know when either of these men fight they are going into the cage to put on an impressive striking display and everyone knows im a huge fan of striking battles and this is going to be a great one.  Babin may be the more technical striker but Franco is not far behind showing he has very good skills, both of these men have fight ending power with 22 (T)KO wins between the two of them I think we will see one of the greatest standup battles of the year.  I am calling this my early favorite for FOTN honors.   Does Babin earn his first successful title defense?  Or does the dreams and predictions of Franco finally come to maturity.

Prediction:  Such a close fight I could see either winning ill take Babin since he is the champ.

1st Krwawy Lopez (11-1) v  2nd "The Hawk" Sven Dufva  (9-0)         170 lbs title

Weston:  Welterweights Krwawy Lopez and Sven Dufva will be the next to meet inside the cage for a welterweight fight that will be the first defense of Lopez’s title reign.  This fight is the one that will have you sitting on the edge of your chair hoping the man you want to win pulls it off.  Both of these fighters have great records Dufva is undefeated at 9-0, and Lopez is 11-1 and on a five fight win streak that saw him gain the vacant welterweight title and erupt to his spot as the divisions best fighter.  Dufva has something to say about all of that in this highly anticipated fight, he feels there is no one in the division better then him.  At 9-0 he may be right, and to pick up his tenth straight win to start his career he will have to become the HMMA welterweight champion.  Which one of these fighters begins the path to becoming Heroic?

Rudy:  Two guys who have proven night in and night out that they know how to win, I know since Lopez lost he has been on a mission to destroy everything and everyone in his path, he has done that and has started to build what could turn out to be a HoF career.  Both of these men are very well rounded both of them can win the fight and defend themselves in any position they find themselves in.  It will be interesting to see what happens in this fight as I expect it to be an all-around MMA fight I think we will see some ground action and striking in this fight.

Prediction:  Its hard to predict against a champion but its hard to go against an undefeated fighter.  Coin toss and the champ wins the toss ill go with him by decision.

1st "mr decision" Mike Tyson (17-8-1) v 2nd  Roy "The Wardog" Pitbull  (17-6-1)     155 lbs title (III)

Weston:   The next fight, is the third edition of the series between champion Mike Tyson and challenger Roy Pitbull.  The first fight was a number one contenders fight, Tyson won that fight and then went on to win the championship, the next fight was an epic battle that saw both men having moments where they looked like they were going on to victory, but when the dust settled neither man was announced the victor, a heartbreaking draw was announced and an immediate rematch to determine this thing once and for all at least for the time being.  These two are quickly putting themselves in the front of the line for rivalry of the year.

Rudy:  Putting themselves in line? Forget it its already been decided these two men are taking rivalry of the year I don’t see any way they don’t win it.  Obviously these two are seen as the two best in the division and very even in terms of skills hence the draw in their last meeting.  Tyson has not shown much KO power but he has shown he can completely dominate a fighter by picking them apart from start to finish and rendering them incapable of mounting offense.  Pitbull has shown he can finish fights both standing and on the ground having finished the majority of his fights either strategy is equally devastating and this fight will be determined by who has the better strategy.

Prediction:  I think Tyson will take this one but its close I hope there is not another draw here.

Prelims

Weston:  The Prelim action of this card is once again fighters that could headline other HMMA cards.  These guys are highly talented fighters on the verge of breaking into the big time.  We could very well be looking at future contenders and champion so don’t take the prelim fighters lightly start checking them out now!  The last fight on the prelims is a HW fight between debuting Frank Lin and Rocco Stupka both of these men are highly hyped and a win could put them very close to a shot at the HMMA HW title.

Another fight on the Prelim card is a fight between Heavyweights Johnny Turk and Dick Niaz, Niaz always dangerous and has been close on several occasions to earning a title shot only to have it taken away in #1 contenders matches, but he will once again look to make a run to the top and fight highly touted newcomer Johnny Turk in a highly anticipated debut.

Rudy:  Those are two excellent fights Weston and all four of those HW’s could be in line down the road for a shot at the champion.  But lets talk about The 2nd fight on the card, HoFer Fu Manchu! Fights Aaron Edwards in a 205 lbs fight that could have title implications in the future its going to be a fantastic action packed fight.

Let us not forget the opening fight of this stacked card, between  Welterweights Kevin Garnett, and Rumina Sato these two fighters are on the rise and Sato may not be very far from a shot at the title, winning this fight will definatly put him in line for an opportunity he has already beaten one former #1 contender and his only loss in 3 HMMA appearances came in a fight where he tested the current champion.  I think this fight could be the platform to push either fighter to the top and get some eliminator shots for a chance at the title.

Rocco Stupka  v  Frank Lin

Johnny Turk  v  Dick Niaz

Aaron Edwards  v  Fu Manchu

Kevin Garnett  v  Rumina Sato
