Author:Cynic Chris

March 14, 2013 SP-ICON in London, will be bringing you FN 10 Maier vs Elmo III in our first event held in the Camden Conference Centre. This card will also headline our second triple header title show, showcasing 3 title fights on this card once again. In our Main Event we have Sepp Maier vs Emo Elmo III. With the first fight being a lopsided victory for the champ, Maier, Elmo worked his way back up to the title and gave Maier a run for his money on the second outing. It is likely that this fight will be even closer then it was the last time they fought. But will we have a returning champion in Maier, or will Elmo be our new middle weight champ? In our Co-Main Event we have a light weight title with two of SP-ICONS top LW fighters,  Cottero vs Belvedere. Our third title fight will be between two Heavyweights Jack Calypso and Space Filler. This action, plus 8 more exciting undercard fights will be showcased this Thursday, so get your tickets now !

LIGHTWEIGHT: Payne vs Benevides

Dave Benevides (13-15, 32)  vs Marcus Payne (12-8-1, 28) are two veterans of the sport that will be sure to put on a fast pace exciting fighting for on March 14th. Payne is making his SP-ICON debut bringing with him world class boxing and BJJ brown belt. Altough Paynes last two fights didnt go as he'd anticipated, he said in a recent interview, "he's changed his entire work ethic and mind set and will be looking to end this fight in a highlight reel KO." What Benevides brings to the table is a BJJ black belt that very few fighters in his weight class can match. He'll be looking to close the distance with his opponent and someone how get this fight to the ground. Who will have what it takes to walk out of the cage with a victory?

MIDDLEWEIGHT: Gold vs Elliot

Gilbert Gold (4-0, 25) will be facing Chaz Elliot (2-2, 21) for whats sure to be a great fight. Gold is currently undefeated, and will be looking to keep this fight standing to hopefully get an early KO against his opponent. Only 1 of Golds 4 fights has made it out of the first round with all four opponents getting KO'ed at some point during the fight. Chaz Elliot started off his career 2-0 and will be looking to get back to his winning ways by enforcing an early TD against Gold. If Elliot can find success with his grappling early it may be a very long night for Gold, with Elliot upsetting the current undefeated rising star.

HEAVYWEIGHT: Meat vs Mardukas

Fat Meat (4-0, 25) vs Hank Mardukas (1-2, 24) will be a stand up battle between two outstanding strikers. Mardukas is currently coming off a KO win in FN 4 over Tim Slyvia. With Meat having the advantage in the MT department, Mardukas will be looking to showcase his top notch boxing early. Meat will be looking to land some big kicks to hopefully break his opponents will. Fight fans predict that this fight doesnt make it out of the first couple minutes, let alone the second round. If your a fan of mma this will be the fight to watch to guarantee that you see someone getting KTFO.

MIDDLEWEIGHT: Preben vs Monkey

Preben Daddelballe (4-1, 23) will be facing undfeated Camel Monkey (5-0,25) in a fight where both fighters will be looking to show case there phenominal grappling skills. Preben is also making his SP-ICON debut, while riding a 3 fight win streak with finishing 2 of his last 3 opponents in the 1st round. Preben will be looking to display his stand up advantage against monkey in order  to keep monkey from controling this fight on the ground. Monkey is currently riding a 5 fight win streak finishing all of his opponents but one. Monkey will be looking to dictate where this fight takes place by getting it the ground. Both fighters bring a BJJ Purple belt belt to the table, and will be ready to finish this fight where ever it takes place.Only one fighter can be a winner, but whos it going to be?

LIGHTWEIGHT: Khoury vs Mendes

Shannon Khoury (9-19-1, 34) vs Jesus Mendes (24-6, 30) will be a fight that decides whos next in line for a shot at the SP-ICON LightWeight Title. Khoury will be looking to let loose with his boxing, while staying active with his kicks also. Jesus will be looking to keep his opponent guessing by mixing it up with accurate punches and kicks, while also keeping active with his TD's. Jesus is also currently riding a 9 fight win streak. Will Khoury have what it takes to stop Mendes streak, or is Mendes truely the second coming of Jesus ?

HEAVYWEIGHT: Calypso vs Filler

In our first title fight of the night we bring you Jack Calypso (13-6, 31) current Heavyweight Champ vs Space Filler ( 11-6, 27) first time SP-ICON title contender. Heavyweight champ Calypso brings a dominant aspect to the sport of MMA that very few fighters can match. His current grappling back ground includes BJJ black belt,  USA Olympic wrestler and two time Olympic Gold Medalist.  Calypso will be looking to get this fight to the ground and end it early. Filler will be looking to throw heavy damage with his boxing advantage to hopefully get a highlight real KO. Although Calypso is the favorite in the fight, do not count Filler out. He has amazing KO power that can KO any fighter in the world out. But will his KO power be enough to stop Calypso's reign as SP-ICONS champ, or will we have a returning champ Calypso ?

C0-MAIN EVENT- LIGHTWEIGHT: Belvedere vs Cottero

In our second title fight of the night we bring you Augustus Belvedere (11-7. 27) vs Tommy Cottero (19-8, 28) to determine who our new SP-ICON Light Weight champ will be. Cottero has many great MMA accomplishments, but most people know him as the former #1 Bantam Weight in Tokyo. Cottero decided he wanted to test the waters in LW division again, to hopefully be one of the very few fightes to be a 5 time champ in 5 different Orgs. Belvedere will be looking to do everything in his power to prevent that, and ensure he gets his first title ever. Only one fighter can walk out the cage as a new SP-ICON champ. Will it be Cottero's champion experience that prevails, or will be crown a new Light Weight Champ in Belvedere?

MAIN EVENT- MIDDLEWEIGHT: Maier vs Elmo

In our main event of the night SP-ICON brings you another Rivalry title fight between Sepp Maier (30-19, 29) vs Elmo Elmo (7-5, 25). With Maier beating Elmo for the belt in there first fight fairly easy, Elmo built his way back up the latter and challenged Maier for the 2nd time with a too close to call fight. With all 3 judges scoring the fight 47-48 for Maier. Maier will be looking to avoid keeping the fight so close this time, but will that be enough. Elmo will more then likely be looking for finish to keep this out of the hands of the judges. Either way we have a great card stored for fight fans and will only be avaliable for fans at the Camden Centre. So get your tickets now before its too late !
