HEROIC
2013-02-09, London, Camden Conference Centre
Author:

Hello everyone I is “Sunshine” Weston Markson along with Rudy “The box” Knife, and we are here to preview HMMA 60.  HMMA 60 is going to be a great card with lots of contenders taking to the cage to see where they stand in their divisions.  These are fighters who could be just a couple of wins away from a title shot.  Personally im looking forward to seeing all these new faces to HMMA make their debuts this card is full of them with 5 total.

Rudy:   Well Weston this card is so far this year the most exciting in my opinion  HMMA has put together some really great cards this year but this one I have been anxiously awaiting for because a lot of the new talent is debuting.  HMMA is often bringing in new fighters for exciting new matchups and challengers but rarely do we get to see so many take to the cage at the same time.  Get your popcorn ready this is going to be great!

MAIN EVENT

“The Hawk” Sven Dufva (8-0) v  Klaus Andersen (12-3)

Weston:  The main event of HMMA 60 is a welterweight fight between debuting Sven Dufva and Klaus Andersen.   Dufva is a fast rising star that comes into HMMA with a ton of hype, expectations and an undefeated record.  So far in his career Dufva has looked like a killer but when he debuts the man standing across from him is equally as dangers and a veteran of HMMA.  Klaus Andersen has looked great in his HMMA career having won 3 out of his 4 fights.  Klaus is on the brink of a title shot and a win of Dufva will solidify that resume even more.

Rudy:  This is going to be a great fight, for a long time I have been hearing about Dufva and hoping to one day see him fight in an HMMA cage this fight is between two of the best the division has to offer, we could be looking at the next great contender.   Both of these fighters are known finishers, out of the 20 wins between the two of them only 3 fights were left in the judges hand.   Both fighters are well rounded but Dufva has a small advantage standing and seems comfortable wherever the fight takes place.  He often looks to secure a takedown and pound his opponent out, Andersen is great at that, he has turned wrestling and GNP into an art.  If Dufva keeps the fight standing he has a better chance of winning and Andersen having the advantage on the ground has a better shot dragging Dufva to the mat.  So who wins?

Prediction:  This is a hard fight to guess  I think Andersen wins a close hard fought decision.

CO-MAIN EVENT

"The Great"  Nate Barnes (22-12) v  Brick Top (26-12)

Weston:  The CO-MAIN event of the evening is two Light-heavyweight fighters who have been around in the fighting game for a long time these two guys have 72 fights between them.   Barnes comes into this fight on a 3 fight winning streak and has made everyone aware sometime soon he wants a shot at the champion.  Barnes is one of the top contenders and if he continues to win he will soon get his chance at the champion but first a debuting fighter stands in his way.  Brick Top is making his HMMA debut but is no stranger to top level challenges.  Top comes into HMMA after a loss in his most recent fight but still has a lot of hype and potential to be a contender in the stacked LHW division.  A win here could establish himself in HMMA’s LHW elites.

Rudy:  I think its safe to say that this fight will be awesome both of these men will come out swinging to take each others heads off.  Barnes has 19 (t)KO’s and Top has 16.  I don’t see anyway these two don’t come out stand in the middle of the cage and swing away.   Top is the more well-rounded fighter though so if Barnes is getting the better of the standup exchanges don’t be surprised if he abandons standing and trading for a safer game plan getting the fight to the ground and working from there.

Prediction:  The winner will be the first man to land clean I think Barnes may take this fight.

Main Card

"Peltosaaren Teurastaja" Brutaali Keijo (12-10-1)  v  "The Thriller"  Esteban Miller (11-1)

Weston:   Esteban Miller may be the most exciting addition the the HMMA welterweight roster in a long time.  Miller comes in with tons of hype, and potential almost everyone you encounter on the internet forums is touting Miller as the next big thing.   On Saturday we will see if Miller can live up to the hype in his HMMA debut or if Brutaali Keijo will temporarily halt the launch of Miller.  Jeijo comes into this fight off a very tough series with Juho Pennanen in which the first fight was a draw, and the second a very close and controversial split decision loss.   Despite this loss and the controversial nature behind it he still finds himself fighting top level competition.

Rudy:   This is going to be an awesome fight, Miller is that guy I have been waiting for to make his debut the most he is an exciting young fighter, Keijo is also an exciting young fighter and with the Pennanen rivalry behind him I can’t wait to see where he stands in the division.  This is going to be a fight with huge title implications the winner could possibly be the next challenge for the champion.  Keijo is the more well rounded fighter with a solid standup game and good ground skills, Miller is a great striker and has a solid ground game as well.   I would give the advantage on the ground to Keijo and Striking to Miller but either fighter can fight in both worlds.  Will Miller start a new chapter of excellence in HMMA or will Keijo prove he is one of the top dogs at WW?

Prediction:  I think Miller will win this by decision.

"Rasta" Billy Skank (12-7) v  Leonidas "The Phenom" Sheynauvah (12-6)

Weston:  The third fight on the main card is another light-heavyweight fight between Billy Skank and the debuting Leonidas Sheynauvah.  Don’t ask me how to say that name I don’t think I can do it again.  Leonidas is making his first appearance in HMMA and is another one of the exciting new additions with lots of hype and potential for greatness.  Leonidas is currently on a two fight win streak and could make an instant impact in the division.  Skank also riding a two fight win streak is one the up and coming fighters in the division he has looked really good as of late and may be on the verge of something big.   A win for both of these fighters will make a name and could be  a huge step into the title picture in an stacked division.

Rudy:  I think this is going to be a solid fight, its my sleeper pick for fight of the night.  19 out of the 24 wins between these two fighters have been by (t)KO so its safe to expect another.  Both of these guys have also had what some say are suspect chins as they have both been (t)KOed a few times.    This fight could very well be a don’t blink whoever makes first contact puts the other to sleep kind of fight.

Prediction:  Toss up I cant pick it. Someone gets a KO win.

"Timothy Of The Night"  Timo Yo (13-6) v  Krwawy Lopez (9-1)

Weston:  The next fight on the main card is two of the divisions best welterweights looking to establish themselves in the top 5 of the division and take a step closer to a title shot.  Timo Yo and Krwawy Lopez have both won four out of their five fights in HMMA.  They are both two of the fastest rising stars in the division.  Yo has won two straight fights, and Lopez has won three straight and I can not wait to see how this fight shapes up, this could have huge title implications as the winner will be very close to a title shot.

Rudy:  Lopez has at times looked like one of the best prospects in the fight game, and Yo has proven to have devastating power.  If Lopez was smart he wouldn’t take any chances with Yo and would take this fight straight to the ground and outwork Yo.  If Yo was smart he will go out and do everything he can to pick up his 11th (t)KO victory.

Prediction:  If Lopez gets the fight to the ground he wins.  If he stands it gets really interesting and Yo could take it.

"The Gracie Killer" Masahiko Kimura (7-2) v  Scott Lewis (8-2)

Weston:  The first fight on the HMMA 60 main card is a lightweight fight between the uber heel Masahiko Kimura and Scott Lewis.  Kimura has as of late turned on the fans calling them dipshits, he has insulted and shown lack of respect to his opponents by thanking them for a “workout” and rubbing his victory in the face of the men he has beaten asking them if it hurts and telling them to get to the back of the line.  Despite his loathing of all but himself Kimura has a lot of skill and on a three fight win streak continues to be an emerging force in HMMA’s lightweight division.   Scott Lewis has for long been one of the top guys in the division and if he has his way he will shut Kimura’s mouth and give him a taste of his own medicine sending him to the back of the line.  The fight could spell out who the better prospect is and put one of these two men on the path towards greatness.

Rudy:  This is a very interesting fight between two guys who could one day become champion.  They seem to possess the intangibles and just need to round out their skill sets a little more I look for this fight to tell us which fighter may in the end be the one who has the better future.  Its no secret what Kimura will look to do in this fight, it’s the same thing he always does get the fight to the ground and tap the other guy out.  Whats interesting is Lewis tends to do the same, and both of these guys have 6 submission wins, and one (t)KO win.  Kimura has the better ground game, but Lewis has the more well rounded game and an advantage striking.   He may look to keep this fight standing and use his advantage there.

Prediction:  Kimura by decision I think this fight will be really close though.
