UNDER CARD

Featherweight Fight

#6 Karl King (1-1 NGF) v #14 Kamryn Black (5-4, 2-1 NGF)

Two young and up and comers put the nearly 2,400 fans…to sleep.  Man, I thought this would be an exciting fight, it wasn’t.  King tried the 1st take down, didn’t get it, landed a couple of weak shots then was taken down.  Black then worked the ground well; softening up King, then Black was able to lock up a Kimura.  It was a bad loss from King, one that he’s got to learn from and come back better.

Super Heavyweight Fight

#8 Gerold Hightower (4-3, 2-3 NGF) v #17 Kriztov The Yeti (10-11, 2-3 NGF)

The Yeti pulls a SOTN performance out of his big Yeti butt!  Wow, what can you say, The Yeti needed this win, and he was able to overcome getting taken down very quickly.  Once again, Kriztov was cut, which is a serious problem for his future.  He was taken down, was hammered by Hightower but Kriztov used a smooth move to escape and get Hightowers back.  From there he was able to choke out Hightower and win this fight 1:33 of the 1st.

Welterweight Fight

#25 Pavel Petrov (5-4, 1-2 NGF) v #10 Dmitry Timonyn (8-7, 3-4 NGF)

He’s done it!  Pavel Petrov has finally won his first NGF fight and it was in spectacular fashion!  I said in the preview that I liked Petrov’s chances if he could get this fight to the ground, well it’s almost like he read the preview because Pavel shot in for a takedown seconds into the fight.  Dmitry was the one that ended up in a better position, and he did control the early part of this fight, even attempting a submission.  It was a beautiful sweep that Petrov was able to perform.  The turning point of the fight was a elbow that almost looked illegal, but it was let go.  The elbow opened up a huge gash on Timonyn.  Petrov dropped all sorts of shots on Timonyn and at 3:31 of the 1st the fight was stopped because of the cut.  Huge win for Petrov and a crushing loss for Timonyn.

Middleweight Fight

#9 Alpha Male (10-6, 4-4 NGF) v #8 Jambo Alvez (9-5, 3-2 NGF)

It was being said for the last week leading up to this fight, Alpha Male was ready, he had his best camp in his career…well I will never doubt Male’s coaches again.  Alpha Male was in bad shape, loser of 3 straight and he dropped from title contender to barely holding onto the top 10.  Jambo Alvez was looking to beat Male again and move up the ranks.  The 1st round was really dominated by Alvez.  It wasn’t much of a fight, but Alvez did get 2 takedowns and did control the fight.  In the 2nd Male came out much more active.  He controlled the center of the cage, he was using more jabs and started to find his range.  The two fighters did get into a couple of clinch moments, both fighters did little damage.  Alvez was unsuccessful on 3 take downs in the 2nd and he looked gassed after the 3rd failed attempt.  Male took advantage in the middle of the 3rd.  Male used a nice jab, hook combo to put Alvez into La La land at 3:05 of the 2nd.

Super Heavyweight Fight

#4 Iury Sinistrov (6-5, 2-2 NGF) v #7 Sergei Svetlakov (6-2, 2-1 NGF)

Um, I think it’s safe to say that Sergei Svetlakov is a scary, scary man and one that has got to be a serious contender now.  Svetlakov used his monster power once again, he now has 4 KO’s in his career all under 44 seconds.  Iury Sinistrov started this fight with a wild series where Svetlakov was able to just side step the rushing Sinistrov and when Iury turned, Sergei launched a nice combo that put Sinistrov on his butt.  Svetlakov let Sinistrov get back up, and instantly fired a right hook that connected and cut Sinistrov.  Seconds later, Svetlakov used a left, right, left combination that completely knocked out Sinistrov and earned the KOTN!

MAIN CARD

Welterweight Fight

#5 Zbigniew Mlotek (9-3, 2-1 NGF) v #6 Razor Bush (8-5-1, 3-1 NGF)

As I stated in the preview, Razor Bush did not want this fight standing.  It was Zbigniew Mlotek landing the first shot, but he did not get back into a good defensive position and Bush was able to shoot in and get the takedown.  It was all over from there.  Bush has amazing ground and pound skills, and he was able to just brutalize Mlotek landing 9 of 9 ground strikes and putting Mlotek into dream land just 1:31 of the 1st.

Heavyweight Fight

#13 Andrew Golota (9-3, 4-1 NGF) v #7 Tweek Sanguine (7-3, 3-3 NGF)

Andrew Golota tells the heavyweight division that there’s another title contender.  Golota showed all of the NGF his 1 punch KO power with a 1st round KO of Tweek Sanguine.  Andrew Golota impresses me more each time I see him.  He can go the distance, showing great defense and counter skills.  And now he showed he can simply end a fight quickly with a KO.  This one was just all Golota, landing just about anything he wanted.  Sanquine couldn’t get inside, he couldn’t get into position to get a takedown, let alone get a takedown.  It was perfect timing from Andrew, each time Tweek looked to be getting ready for a takedown, Golota fired off a punch, and he was able to land 10 of 11 strikes.  It was about 50 seconds into the 1st when Golota was able to launch a huge hook that landed right on the ear of Sanquine and with that, another fighter unconscious and out.

Heavyweight Fight

#4 Polish Engineer (7-4, 2-1 NGF) v #3 Rinky Spider (6-0, 4-0 NGF)

I nailed this prediction.  Rinky Spider continues to roll and with this win he will now take on Sam Winchester for the heavyweight title at NGF 38 on February 16th.  This one came down to Spiders leg kicks simply taking away Engineers quickness.  The 1st round seemed to be going the way Polish Engineer wanted.  He was able to get the early trip takedown and then he controlled the fight, not doing a lot of damage, but he was in control.  The 2nd round the two really put on a show, both fighters threw a lot of strikes, neither tried for a takedown, but just good stand up fighting.  It was here were 3 or 4 leg kicks landed for Spider that really did damage, you could clearly see the pain on Engineers face.  As more leg kicks landed, you could see that Engineer no longer had the legs to get out or range and more and more strikes started landing for Spider, leg kicks, jabs, and head kicks.  Around the 4:30 mark of the round, the fatal strike landed, a beautiful leg kick that dropped Engineer to the mat which was followed by a few punches and it was over.  Great fight one that had the crowd going crazy.

Co-Main Event:

Bantamweight Fight

#4 Harald Andersson (5-0, 4-0 NGF) v #3 Lutz Knitter (11-5, 2-3 NGF)

A fight that may be a finalist for FOTY!  Harald Andersson and Lutz Knitter , 2 of the best fighters not only in the bantamweight division, but in the NGF, two guys that are both looking to make title runs and do it now.  I said in my preview that this could be a FOTN candidate, and that’s exactly what it was.  It was a beautiful stand up fight, a fight that saw great boxing and Mauy Thai.  Surprising in this fight, Andersson was the one that got the best of the clinch fighting, as he landed 39 of 52 strikes in the clinch to Knitters 5 of 35.  The 1st was standing and throwing, mostly from Knitter; he was doing the most damage and was the more aggressive fighter early on.  It turned a bit around the 4 minute mark as Andersson was able to land some really hard leg kicks that slowed Lutz.  Anderson got aggressive, and did land some strong punches; it was Knitter early, but Andersson late.  1st was so close it was actually scored 10-9, 10-10, 10-10.  Andersson did a lot of damage with kicks, he attempted 48 and he attempted a good portion of them in the 2nd.  The 2nd was really controlled by Harald, he did a lot of damage and landed some really significant strikes, including leg and body kicks in the round, and he took the round 10-9 by all judges.  In between rounds, you heard Knitter say he was losing feeling in his left leg.  The 3rd started with desperation from Knitter, and he did come out aggressive and landed some punches that seemed to stun Andersson.  Andersson got back into control with a few quick shots that hurt Knitter, and did some more damage in the clinch.  Andersson looked like he might end this fight when he rocked Knitter in the middle part of the round, but Knitter survived.  Andersson ended up winning the decision and will now take on Arthur Pirozhkov on February 23rd at NGF 39 for the bantamweight championship.

Main Event

Bantamweight Title Fight

#2 Arthur Pirozhkov (10-2, 8-2 NGF) v #1 Boris Yurinov (5-3, 3-3 NGF)

Pirozhkov/Yurinov III we just hoped this one would live up to the billing and boy did it.  Both of the first two meetings saw Boris Yurinov just dominate the fight, in the 1st he was caught by a Kimura from Pirozhkov in the 5th round.  The 2nd meeting was just a beat down by Yurinov as he won the belt in a decision win.  This one might have been even more dominating by Yurinov, but the familiar script played out.  In the 1st it was just simply Boris throwing everything and anything, landing most.  He defended  7 takedowns also, and when the two fighters went to their corners, the concerning part was, as much as Pirozhkov worked, both fighters looked to be breathing heavy.  In the 2nd, you could see that Yurinov may have punched himself out a bit, he was slower, and was not as aggressive.  Pirozhkov was able to get his takedown in the 2nd and Yurinov then had to spend most of the round fending of submissions, in fact he defended 12 submissions.  The 3rd round began and Yurinov was the one who looked very gassed.  It started with Yurinov kneeing Pirozhkov right in the groin which had Arthur down for the full 5 minutes.  That probably helped Arthur a little more, because he looked a little quicker after the rest.  Yurinov got back to pin point strikes and got back into total control of the fight.  The round and the fight turned when Boris threw a sloppy left hand, and Pirozhkov ducked and drove threw for a takedown.  You could see the dejection on the face of Yurinov.  From there Pirozhkov worked his magic, he tried a armbar, but bailed on that, and did a quick move into a Kimura which actually popped Pirozhkov’s arm.  And just like that, at 4:30 of round 3 we have our new BANTAMWEIGHT CHAMPION ARTHUR PIROZHKOV!
