Gerard Drogba vs Raekwon The Chef (155lbs Title Fight)
This is a very exciting main event for the EMMA chance as we get to see our new 155lbs champion defend his belt for the first time. The Chef (4-0) surprised everyone by taking the belt from long time reigning champ Ray Oliver. The Chef is young in his career but still brings impressive boxing, wrestling and BJJ into the cage every time he fights. The man testing The Chef’s hype is Gerard Drogba (4-1) who brings a solid and diversified striking game into the cage as well. The Chef likes to throw down but he really is the superior ground fighter and has the option there for him while its a pretty even match up on the feet. Considering The Chef doesn’t get clipped, he will win this fight. I think the new EMMA champ is for real. Pick: The Chef via Submission
Stock Pile vs Mos Def
The fight that should have already taken place will now take place as Mos Def missed his connecting flight on the way to Sydney. Mos Def (9-3) is one of EMMA’s more experience welterweights and comes into the cage with a very well rounded game and a BJJ brown belt. The shot against Boom might have come a bit too fast for Def as he lost the fight via head kick KO but this tourney format is the ideal way for him to garner momentum and earn his rematch. With 7 career submissions Mos Def is a tricky match up for anyone and will look to take this fight to the ground. Mos Def is also remarkable in the clinch and likes to look for takedowns from there, which is where he has the advantage. Stock Pile (7-4) is known for his exciting wars that usually end in someone getting KOed but has fallen on some hard times and is on a two fight losing skid, he too could benefit from the momentum this tourney offers him. Pile comes into this fight with proficient boxing, the wrestling chops required to keep a fight standing and a purple belt in BJJ in the event he does end up on the ground. Pile likes to brawl and go to war so it will be interesting to see of Def stays focused and takes this fight to the ground, or stay cool on his feet and land a head kick of his own. Pick: Mos Def via Submission
Siyad Jarrah vs Randall Johnson
This fight is also really exciting for the EMMA fans as we get to see our young bantamweight champion in action in a non title fight. Like the Chef, Jarrah (5-0) is a young mixed martial artist who has been very impressive over his short career. Jarrah uses a strong boxing based attack with the wrestling to keep a fight standing and the BJJ to keep himself out of trouble, a real tough matchup for anyone. Johnson (4-1) is getting a huge shot here to show he can fight at that level and no one can deny home a title shot should he win this fight. Johnson is very well rounded but is often criticized for his safe fighting style as he has never finished an opponent. Nonetheless, he is tough to beat in a three round fight. Does our champ have what it takes to take out a tough opponent within 3 rounds? I think so, Pick: Jarrah TKO
