BFT 168 - Hard Knock Life Review

Middleweight - Lucas Rodriguez Unanimous Decisioned Jason "Red Eye" Craft

The first round of the fight was the clinch show, hosted by Rodriguez. From there, Lucas was able to land the short punches he wanted; he had great success with the uppercut while in there. Craft wasn't slacking off though, he was throwing the muay thai knees and elbows when he could. But Rodriguez was very dominant and took the first round. The second round was fought mostly at the distance, and Rodriguez did not let up. He was able to out land craft for the most part, with both of the guys trading blows throughout the round. Craft looked a little frustrated heading into the last round, but the two plotted onward. They continued to fight as they had for the last 10 minutes. Rodriguez had found his groove and landed onward, while Craft seemed to struggle throughout the fight at the distance preparing himself for a mix of punches and kicks. Both guys came to fight, but Rodriguez was here to win. He walked away with a solid victory.

Middleweight - Ben Zanotto Knocks out Elijah "Electro" Paris with cuts at 2:43 in round 2.

Zanotto cut him open early with a jab, and things did not look great for Elijah already. But then he turned things around and brought the fight down to the ground. From there, he tried submission attempt after submission attempt but could lock anything up. He walked away from that round pretty dominantly. After a quick chat with his corner, Zanotto looked in control. He brought things down to the ground and rained the ground and pound on Paris. From there, Paris looked hurt as the cut opened more. The ref jumped in and stopped the fight, but let me say this; if the ref hadn't stopped the fight, he would have knocked Paris soon after.

Heavyweight - Steve "The Tank" Tompkins Knocks out Giles Gerard with strikes at 2:25 at round 2.

The first round had Gerard take things down and work from there. He worked on getting some ground and pound off, but had a difficult time hitting the guy. I mean Tompkins really did not want to get hit on the ground and avoided it as often as possible. But Gerard did spend most of the round holding him down and that would have been enough in the judges eyes to walk away with the round. On the feet in the second, the two seemed pretty even. But then Tompkins got the takedown and worked on some ground and pound there. Gerard was working on some submissions from his back, but it wasn't enough to discourage the offence of Tompkins. An elbow turned things towards the end for Gerard and the ref jumped in soon after to end things. Tompkins walks away with some nice ground and pound-age.

Co-Main - Weltwerweight Title! - Super Hans defends his title with a submission over Jan "Bleeder" Den Knieschijf by triangle armbar at 1:32 in round 2.

Super Hans is here to stay my friends. The first round is like a pogo stick, it went up and down and up and down... On the feet, Hans was much more agressive. On the ground, Hans was content with just holding the fight down. There was no question that Super had done a... SUPER... job of taking that round. The second round opened up in the clinch and the two were exchanging, but Hans was getting the better hits of the two. A solid punch staggers Den Knieschijf, opens up a cut, and leaves an opening for Hans to get the takedown. From there Hans quickly puts on a triangle, too loose to get, which then switches to an armbar to end things. A dominant performance by Hans.

Main Event - Heavyweight Title! - Hagen "The Barbarian" Germanicus KO's "Broomstick" Dingo Monster with a punch  at 4:28 in round 1 to defend his title.

The fight started in the clinch for a while, which left a cut open on Monster. Once Germanicus had enough of the clinch, he broke it and dragged Monster to the ground. On the ground, Monster was active with submissions, but Germanicus was active with the punches. Monster wiggled his was from underneath Germanicus and got up. On the feet, Germanicus was landing whenever he chose. A nice jab had Monster thinking, and another one had the ref hoping in before Monster could get any more damage. What power Germanicus has.
