INY 48 – Blood at Christmas

World Light Heavyweight Title

Youngblood vs Oliva

Oliva has earned his title shot by stopping the highly regarded Winnfield and outpointing former champ Al Fayyad. The 30 year old Oliva has an incredible kicking game that has brought him 11 wins including 10 TKO’s.

However, Oliva has never been in the cage with a fighter of the caliber of the champ. Matt Youngblood, the current Immortals Light Heavyweight Champion is also the former two time NAF Light Heavyweight Champion where he made four title defenses.

Expect Youngblood to walk the challenger down using his heavy hands, take the fight into the clinch and beat the fight out of Oliva.

Oliva has a chance if he can land one of his lethal high kicks but Youngblood has only been dropped once in his career and even then he recovered and knocked his opponent cold moments later. This could be a firecracker while it lasts but I expect Youngblood to prevail.

205lb Division

Kalenth vs Winnfield

A meeting of two top class light heavies with the winner likely to get a title shot very soon. Kalenth is having his 24th pro fight having compiled a record of 15-6-2. The Jolon Williams camp are known to prefer clinch fighting, and Kalenth is another fighter that scores a lot of points in the clinch, and has some brutal ground and pound.

Winnfield 9-3 8KO’s is a world class boxer with heavy hands and a great chin. He finished Wunderkind in only 13 seconds last time out, and I think he needs to put Kalenth to sleep early in this one. If he doesn’t, and he allows Kalenth to muscle him in the clinch I think Winnfield will get beaten up on the inside, and Kalenth could force a doctors stoppage on cuts. Kalenth is a high volume fighter, his camp are tactically sound, so Winnfield must avoid the clinch and inflict Kalenth with his 3rd loss by KO.

I’m backing Kalenth in this one, he WILL force a doctors stoppage.

205lb Division

Selmy vs Smith

Selmy 5-2 is a wrestler with brutal ground and pound and is coming off an impressive win over Wilkens. Smith is 29 now has good power and a granite chin, but he was outclassed in his last fight against Youngblood, so time is not on his side. Selmy will look to take Smith down and pound on him, but Team Hetfield are known for having some great BJJ so Selmy is going to have to be careful. This one could go either way.

205lb Division

Bueno vs Castrello

Both these guys are in need of a win as Castrello has lost his last 3 after moving to the INY where he has found the step up in competition very tough. Both are well rounded, with Castrello having the better striking pedigree, and Bueno an impressive ground game. Castrello can win this, with accurate strikes and being prepared to take a points decision. Bueno is tough, heavy handed, and great on the ground but he has struggled against strikers. These two are hard to separate.

265+ Division

Abdullah vs Olavski

Abdullah failed a drugs test after his last fight against Sheet, when it was discovered he had no recollection of the fight having taken place. The crazy gay Arab, is now tested daily, is clear of the crack habit, is currently STD free, and by his pitiful standards, in fairly good shape. Abdullah is likely to force Olavski against the cage and clinch up with him, and throw those spindly elbows into Olavski’s face. Olavski 6-3 is likely to pull guard to avoid Abdullah’s clinch attack and try to force a submission, as BJJ could be a key factor for the Russian. I’m backing Olavski here, I don’t think he will allow the gay Arab to dictate where the fight takes place and he will get the takedown and force crazy Abdullah to tap. Make no mistake though, this will be a war.

265+ Division

Goldenberg vs Bradley

Goldenberg is 5-5, and a capable boxer, but he throws way to many power shots and rarely hits the target. This isn’t going to work against the streaking Bradley who has won his last 5 fights in impressive fashion. Bradley will take this fight into the clinch and ram home knees until Goldenberg folds.

170lb Division

Whentworth vs Davies

If you like K1 you will love this match up, with two exceptional Muay Thai fighters colliding in the cage. Whentworth has great punches, kicks and knees, and Davies uses the elbows in the clinch. Both fighters have 2 losses, and both were KO’d in each of their defeats. One of these guys is getting KTFO and I’m backing Davies to be the man left standing, after a brutal war.

155lb Division

Sandoval vs Butcher

Ground specialist Sandoval has won his last two fights against journeymen since dropping a decision to Wellman Jnr. He will be looking to get MT striker Butcher to the ground as quickly as possible, as Butcher is a banger with 5 of his 6 wins by KO. I’m backing Sandoval to weather the storm, get the takedown and force Butcher to tap.

205lb Division

White vs Nowicki

Two novice strikers collide, White 1-2 and Nowicki 2-1. White has been stopped by Gustin and is susceptible to cuts. Nowicki I suspect will out tough White and maybe force a doctors stoppage. Still, it could go either way.

170lb Division

Durak vs Williams

Durak 1-7 should be flipping burgers, he has been beaten in every conceivable way, and has one win against one of the most feeble fighters in  INY history, Joe Sekyere who himself retired with a 1-7 record. Williams has lost 3 straight, and should make light work of Durak. Williams, a decent wrestler should get Durak to the ground early and finish proceedings shortly after.

Merry Christmas to you all.
