Jose Oquendo - The Secret Weapon Continued [Part 2]

Fighter profile of Jose Oquendo by Knockout Bob

Jose Oquendo - The Secret Weapon [Part 1] --

Just incase you missed part 1 of Jose Oquendo's career, the link is above or you can find it all the way back in the very 1st edition of Tycoon Times. When we left off, Oquendo was 27 years old with a record of 14 – 3, 11 wins by knockout and about to get another title shot against Gorge "Ken Griffey" Junior (14-4). Junior was a powerful sprawl and brawler with 10 wins by knockout, but all 4 of his losses were also by knockout.

When round 1 began, Oquendo pressured Junior early with powerful kicks, punishing his opponents leg, head and body. It wasn't long before Oquendo unloaded with the perfect head kick just 28 seconds into the fight, following it up with a few ground and pound strikes to finish him off. Oquendo was the new champion with a quick knockout win to pick up his 15th career win and his 5th title fight win.

An interview with BDX champ Kiyoshi Matsumoto

Fighter profile of Kiyoshi Matsumoto by

After a few up and downs in his long Brutal Deluxe career, Kiyoshi "The man" Matsumoto eventually got the lightweight belt back around his waiste...

(Feyd Harko) : Hello Kiyoshi, thanks for taking the time to answer a few questions!
(Kiyoshi Matsumoto) : Thanks, and to start I'd like to thank the fans for putting me in this position now, they've backed me the whole way, even through my change of managers and they are the reason I am honored with the BDX title once again!

(FH) : "BDX new lightweight champion" : how does that sound?
(KM) : I would have to say nothing sounds better than that, other than 'reigning BDX lightweight champ', that is my ultimate goal, to be a proud holder of this belt for years to come, this is my home, here in BDX.

(FH) : Many were saying at the end of 2011 that your better days were behind you after loosing 5 of 8 fights, and that you should retire... How sweet was it to put together that streak

Depression and the will to WIN ... BJJ

Editorial by

Since I was a child I have suffered from paralyzing depression and panic attacks.  It plagued me at every step of my life. In my youth the monster which contributed to this was school, and to say I had school phobia would be an understatement.  It was a daily struggle between waking up and going to class. It’s funny because I know deep down inside and even then I knew how silly it was to feel this way.  But if you’ve ever  experienced depression, anxiety or panic attacks you truly understand how powerful the mind and this monster can be can be.

Towards the end of high school education and my early university years, I began to feel more comfortable in a class setting. Everyday on my walk to and from the bus stop that I would take to go to class I would pass by a BJJ school. I decided one day to check out it out. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu had caught my interest and the Gracie name included. I went to a class and was introduced to the instructor who just recently told

OverComing 21: Speed vs. Brandao! PREVIEW

Event Preview: O21: Speed vs Brandao
Overcoming (ID 155k+)
2012-06-03, Amsterdam, The Beer Garden
Author:K Rad

And a very good afternoon to you all from Amsterdam's Beer Garden!  I am K-Rad and it is my pleasure to be here bringing you the preview for OC21: Speed vs. Brandao.  I am currently awaiting the 20 fighters to arrive and the 5000+ supporters who will cheer them on for this event which climaxes in a super heavyweight title fight.  There's been plenty of words flying back stage with Speed saying he is focusing on the this fight before he commits to worrying about anything else, Brandao saying this is a good idea because Brandao is bringing his heavy hands to the party and Aquino letting everyone know he is prepared to put them all to sleep.  Exciting times!  There's plenty to look forward to on this card but if you're in a rush, let's say you're going out to dinner with your boyfriend, then hit up the official twitter @JakubWest.

Do "Ré" Me vs. Samsung Wave
Middleweight

The first of 4 middleweight bouts in a row which make up the overcard is "Re" Me vs. Wave.  Both men lost their most recent fights, in Me's case it was a challenge for the title, but both have plenty of morale to bring them into this battle.  This is a fight in which Wave is hoping his huge boxing can claim an early KO but Me, despite not being quite the Western specialist his opponent is also has a little Thai and 7cm height on his side which will be a real wild card.  On top of this, Me has the wrestling and jitsu which may well see him look to the floor.  A well matched fight which should anticipate plenty of fireworks but I think Me should be looking at his opponent's weaknesses and take this one down to quite possibly notch up his first ever submission victory
