Stanley is trying to control Brian's posture but Brian avoids it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Brian can do anything to dispel that myth.

River dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Brian. That did some damage!#CL#
Brian drives through and clinches with River against the cage. #BC#
Brian breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
River swings and misses with a hook to the body. #TD#
Brian decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Brian in particular looking to stall.#SUB#
Brian is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, River has managed to free his arm - good work.
River is trying to control but can't. #T1#

Brian's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

River ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Brian moves away.
River will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

Brian sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Brian throws a head kick that looked like it stung. #CUT#

Brian dives in and scores a takedown into River's guard.

Brian fakes high and swings low for a body shot but River manages to avoid it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

and Brian counters with a single leg into guard. River didn't expect that.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!#SU#
Brian decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on River, up you get!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Brian really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Brian is cranking River's head sideways - that looks painful. He's managed to get his other arm under the chin and this looks bad for River! He's tightened the choke and River is tapping out!
