Bravo: Another exciting BJJ Brown belt slowly climbing the ranks. He can earn a shot with a win of Salita, but he will have a tough testin Froch.

Molear: A new signing to RoF, one of the top contenders who has the striking to contend with the champion.

Donald: Has a meeting with Molear and is a stupendous striker but has a knack for submissions. Can throw his name into the title mix with a win in his next fight.

Orion: Had an impresive showing in his last bout against Chong Li. Will meet up with Stankovic for the 170 title.

Stankovic: The well rounded wrecking machine. Earned his shot with a quick victory in his last fight. Will be a huge problem for Orion .

Key: Impressive upset victory over Stevenson shot him up the division rankings. Primarily a striker he showed off his grappling with a submission victory over a bettler grappler.

Stevenson: Stunned by his submission loss to a blue belt. He must rebound in his next bout to legitimize himself.

Singlaterry: Rebounded from a crushing defeat to Stankovic. Needs a good showing in his next fight to keep his spot in the top 5.

Payne: If he resigns with the RoF can get a title shot with another conteder with Locke busy with the superfights. He a pure sprawl and brawler with deadly KO power.

Adams: A decent striker who faces a stiff test in his next fight. Can be a title contender with a win in his next fight.

4. Pit Lord (3-0)

5. Liibor Prohaska (3-1)

Bubble: Kevin Jade, Shogun Silva, Ikky Tevez

Lee: The champion is a pure ground fighter with his brown belt in BJJ. Currently awaits a worthy opponent to step up and challenge him for his belt. He has decided to test his skills with the world and will compete in the ICON LHW Superfight tournament.

Bradley: The young knockout artists has made it hard for others to overlook him. He is a pure sprawl and brawler and has an upcomming fight with Damian Cain.

Turk: He cannot be overlooked as a potential challenger. He is another sprawl and brawler who has crushed his last two opponents in spectacular fashion.

Johnson: Suffered a crushing defeat to the current champion. Looks to rebound in his next fight against Frederick Comodore. If he can string together a couple wins he can earn another shot at the belt.

Lord: The methodical boxer has out pointed his last 2 opponents and it seems they have no clue on how to beat this man. Has a stiff test against another wonderful boxer in Alamimo Hoku.

Prohaska: Another sprawl and brawler in the top of the division looking for a title shot. He has heavy hands and can earn a shot with a couple more wins.

Heavyweight Division

CHAMPION: N/A

1. Xaiver Gracie (5-1)

2. General Zod (6-4)

3. Gaylord Butts (3-2)

4. Rafael Villa (3-0)

5. Tyler Hendrix (2-0)

Bubble: Antonio Guerreiro, James Goldfish, Frank Brody

Gracie: The well rounded division leader. Would be competing for the title but opted to enter the ICON Tournaments. However, he will challenge for the title when he comes back.

Zod: Newly signed fighter from LA. Looks to wreck havoc over the island locals. Has an upcoming bout against Butts and the winner of that could be up for the title.

Butts: Another new signing with well rounded skills. Strong MT and decent wrestling to back it up.

Villa: The well rounded brown belt has experienced tons of success in his career, but as opted to go on hiatis If he decides to come back any time soon he can easily contend with the top fighters of the division.

Hendrix: An impressive knockout artist who is currently set time for some extensive training. Although he is young his impressive victories have gotten him near the top of division.

ROF 4 - The Strong Emerge

Hilo, Hi (TAP) - Another event is in the books for the newly renamed ICON Ring of Fire. Kanunu (The strong one) marked ROF's fourth successful event. Fans swarmed and packed The Underground in Hilo and were witness to another exciting event from ROF. "I was really happy with this event. "We stepped up in venues and were able to bounce back from somewhat disapointing numbers last week. I think we've distingued some of the top fighters in the 205 division," stated Big Boss.

In the main event, Brad Johnson has distinguished himself as the man to beat in the 205 division. Johnson showcased his excellent wrestling and ground control enroute to a unanimous decision over ROF newcommer, Henry Bafana. Brad Johnson scored takedowns at will and smothered Bafana with his top game. "Surfer Bomb" was battered on the bottom with strikes and wasn't able to muster much offense from his position. Big Boss has stated that Johnson could be one of the contenders for the Light Heavyweight title. "For sure with another victory I will be confident enough to give Johnson a shot," said Big Boss.

The Co-Main Event also featured a set of light heavyweights. Ikky Tevez and Pit Lord both made their ROF debut and they did not disapoint. Ikky's chin was put to the test as he took many solid shots from Pit Lord but unfortunatly taking blows to the chin doesn't win you the bout. Pit Lord took 30-25, 30-25, and 30-24 on the judges scorecards by using Ikky's head as a punching bag. Pit Lord's dominance and Ikky Tevez's grittyness earned themselves Fight of the Night Honors from Big Boss himself.

Another exciting bout was between Nelson Palau and B "D" A. It was a ground clinic that had both fighters actively looking for a finish. Early in the first round Palau scored a takedown and B A quickly swept him. He then threatened with a RNC and then got to mount, but Nelson Palau was able to defend the attacks. Working off his back Palau was able to find a Guillotine at 3:28 into the first round.

Lebron Stankovic earned himself Submission of the Night Honors wit his armbar victory over Andrea Singlaterry at :42 of the second round. Rafael Villa also got an armbar submission with his victory over former training partner, Pedro Arroyo. Villa had a sound gameplan as he avoided wild combinations from Arroyo and fired back with counter punches. Early in the 3rd, Villa scored a takedown and as Arroyo desperately tried to scramble back to his feet Villa clutched his arm and found the submission.

Dickie Taint scored the lone knockout of the event thus earning him Knockout of the Night honors. Bobby Malone was no match for Taint as he was knocked out in just 37 seconds into the first round. Dicky Taint displayed his hands as he found two successful combos in a row that had Malone out cold on his feet.

The rest of the card was filled with interesting bouts that went to the judges table. Otto Kealoha earned a unanimous decision after scoring countless takedowns in their 3 round bout. Global Warning was upset by the Nerubian Assassin. Global Warning wasn't able to submit the white belt and was brutalized on the feet by Assassin who earned 30-26 victory on all the judges score cards. Basje Schrauwen utilized great clinch control to earn his victory over JB Kingston. DJ Denn bounced back from a recent loss with his unanimous decision victory over ROF newcommer, Captain Morgan.

All in all it was an exciting night for fight fans as the Ring of Fire fighters always put on a great show. Be on the look out for next weeks event as Ring of Fire presents ROF 5 - Lanakila.

ROF 5 - Lanakila

MAIN EVENT

Lightweight Division

Kolo Salita v marlo froch

This bout has be marked as a possible number one contender bout for the Lightweight title. Kola Salita, a BJJ brown belt, takes on the dangerous striker, Marlo Froch. A win for either fighter will definitly put them atop of the division.

Kolo Salita is a pure grappler at heart and has been dabbling with the stand up game. But, in this bout Salita should stick with his bread and butter and take this fight to the ground. He doesn't yet have the wrestling ability to take it their at will so he will have to resort pulling guard or lucking out with a sneaky double or single leg. Once he's there it shouldn't take long for Salita to find a limb or artery to mangle.

Marlo Froch has be pegged as the underdog in this bout but that doesn't bother him at all. He finished off his last opponent with strikes in just 8 seconds and he will look to make quick work of his Salita. This powerful striker has the KO power to end anyones night and will need to seize his first opportunity to get the victory. Froch has been dilligently working on his wrestler and his takedown defense will be tested in this bout.

This striker vs grappler affair is to decide who will come out with the victory. This bout means a lot to each fighter and whoever is hungries for that belt will impose their will. But, experts predict that Froch will pull off the upset. He will either blitz Kolo early in the first or find the homerun later in the second round via TKO.

CO-MAIN EVENT

WELTERWEIGHT DIVISION

marka im a get ya v Popeye Orion

This welterweight affair pits two BJJ purple belts making their debut with Ring of Fire. Marka Im A Get Ya (2-0) has both victories via submission and Popeye Orion has submission 3 of his opponents and suffered no losses. A win for either fighter can set them apart from the rest of the welterweight division.

Marka "Nakamura" is the young purple belt transplant from South Korea and Popeye hails from the USA. These two fighters face their toughest opponents to date as they both had had the luxery of fighters who had little to no wrestling training. They were both able to use their limited wrestling experience to will their way into takedowns.

We will see brilliant display of BJJ in this bout. This bout is also hard to predict as both fighters have solid BJJ skills. The experts are split between both fighters and cannot decide who will come away with the victory. Whoever wins will most likely take a unanimous or even split decision as nobody predicts a submission for either fighter.

HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION

Miguel Barricho v JJ Zola

This is another of many Heavyweight bouts on this card. It's another bout that can easily propel either fighter near the top of the 265 division. Miguel Barricho (1-1) hails from Trinidad & Tobago and won his last bout via decision. JJ Zola (0-1) comes from Scotland and is making his Ring of Fire debut.

Miguel Barricho is a well rounded fighter who has decent Muay Thai Skills along with a BJJ Blue Belt. In his last bout he dominated an overmatched opponent for 3 rounds to win a unanimous decision. In this bout he must use his edge in boxing to keep JJ Zola at arms reach and avoid the clinch of his opponent. From their he can pick his opponent apart with Jabs and simple combos enroute to a possible decision victory. He can also take advantage of Zola's lack of takedown defense and he can have his way with the BJJ White belt.

JJ Zola is a young punishing Muay Thai Striker. He has displayed tons of strength and has an awesome clinch. Once he has you in that thai plum it will be hard to break free. What he lacks is cardio and it will interesting to see if he developed some cardio since his last apperance in the cage. He only has one thing in mind and that is to get his hands around Barricho's neck and unleash an ample amount of knees and elbows.

Migues Barricho is expected to take another victory in this bout. If he plays this bout smart he will able to outpoint Zola who only has one way to win this bout. Barricho will look to play it safe on the feet and possibly score takedowns to keep Zola off guard. Either way he plays this fight Barricho will be the victor.

HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION

Tyler Hendrix v Dog Shagger

In another heavyweight bout the noobie, Tyler Hendrix takes on 1-0 Dog Shagger. These two fighters are making their promotional debut and look to showcase their talent to the head of Ring of Fire, Big Boss.

Tyler Hendrix is the standout striker hailing from Orlando, Florida. He's primarily a Boxer who has some decent Muay Thai skills. He is a relative new commer to MMA as he showed lack of well roundedness in the gym. Hendrix will look to keep end this early or he will end up on his back constantly and at the will of his opponent.

Dog Shagger is the undefeated fighter hailing from Benderville, Botswana. He is a well rounded fighter who can take the fight anywhere. In this bout he will look to take this the ground early and often. Shagger does not want to test his chin against the more explosive striker as he can have an easier time exposing the wrestling and white belt of Hendrix.

The conensus among experts is that Dog Shagger takes the victory. Hendrix has the chance to end the night quick, but if Shagger plays it smarts and sneaks a takedown then it will be all over. Shagger has the edge on the ground and can find a submission or take a decision for the victory.

MIDDLEWEIGHT DIVISION

Bill Natua v Mark Lang

This middleweight match up pits two fighters looking to rebound from losses in their last fights. Bill Natua (1-1) last fought on ROF's first event and ended up losing a unanimous decision. Mark Lang (0-1) is making his promotional debut and lost his MMA debut match via submission. This bout pits striker vs striker so we should see a knockout one way or the other.

Bill Natua is primarily a Muay Thai fighter who has some decent skills in Boxing. In his last bout his lack of wrestling was exposed as he was taken down at will. In this matchup he will not have to worry about the ground and can focus on his striking. Natua who is more than able to strike at a distance will look to win this fight in the clinch. He has the big advantage in that department and can tear up his opponent with knees to the head and body.

Mark Lang is a solid Boxer who also has a blue belt in BJJ. But, he lacks the wrestlin skills to take it to the ground so this fight will primarily stay on the feet. Lang must avoid the clinch and use his jabs to set up his combinations which he can land effectively.

The experts pick Bill Natua to get his first victory under the Ring of Fire banner. Although Lang is the slightly better boxer, Natua has the skills to compete in the boxing area. What Lang lacks is a sound Muay Thai game and that is where Natua should flourish. He will probably batter Lang in the clinch and finish late in the first or early in the second via TKO.

BANTAMWEIGHT DIVISION

pili pangi v Minch Yoda

In this bantamweight bout, Pili Pangi takes on Minch Yoda. Both fighters are looking to rebound their lackluster careers. Pili Pangi (3-2) is a primarily ground fighter with solid wrestling and a Brown belt in BJJ. Minch Yoda (0-2), a slightly better wrestler and Purple belt in BJJ, finally catches a slight break as he fights a fellow ground fighter.

Pili Pangi who rattled off 3 consecutive wins to only lose once again to the same Purple belt is at a crossroads at his career. Pangi has the better ground on paper but losing to a purple belt twice makes people think twice about his ground game. Pangi will most likely be fighting this bout off his back and must find a submission to turn his career around.

Minch Yoda has had the bad luck of facing monsters of strikers. Big Boss has given him a slight break in the form of a better ground fighter. Yoda will look to score takedowns and cautiously work top control. He might be better off scoring points with strikes and avoiding sweeps and submissions from Pangi for the victory.

The experets pick Pangi to grab another submission victory. He will look to Nelson Jodoin behind him and continue on with his career.

WELTERWEIGHT DIVISION

Ben Riggs v David Ogden

This welterweight bout pits Ben Riggs (1-2) against David Ogden (0-1). This bout serves as a turnaround bout as a win for either fighter will help them gain a footing in the welterweight division. This is a pretty evenly matched bout as both men share similar experience and qualities.

Both Riggs and Ogden have their blue belt in BJJ and excell the most in Muay Thai. This bout can do one of two things, showcase the fighters skills or turn into a boring bout as the fighters skills cancel eachothers out. Ogden seems to have the better chin and can afford to stay in the pocket longer and dish out more punishment to his opponent.

It's a hard sell to call the winner of this bout. Both men are hungry for a win and after suffering two consecutive losses, Riggs must be desperate for a win. Look for both men to tussel around in the clinch with both fighters getting the upperhand at somepoint. David Ogden's chin might pay off and get him the victory with a unanimous decision.

LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION

Captain Morgan vs Omni Knight

In a lightweight affair, Captain Morgan (2-3) takes on Omni Knight (1-0). Captain Morgan is a decent striker who holds a brown belt in BJJ and Omni Knight is the a relative youngster with a strong wrestling background and blue belt in BJJ. Morgan suffered a unamious decision loss to DJ Denn and Omni Knight is looking to show his worth with his promotional debut.

Morgan is at a cross roads in his career where a loss or even a win can spell the end of his career. He is fighting at a weeks rest and has a chip on his shoulder. He is hellbent on proving his worth in the company and even decided to stay at 155. He has an improved boxing game but he will most likely spend the majority of this bout on this back. He must utilize his excellent ground game to find an opening and submit his opponent.

Omni Knight is a collegiate wrestling stud. He has a solid wrestling base and will definitly find takedowns at will in this bout. His chin will be tested in the opening moments, but his defensive grappling will definitly be strained in this bout. He must smother Morgan on top and leave no openings for submissions. Getting the unanimous decision is the smart route for Knight.

Not much is known about Knight's ability to avoid submissions from a savy bjj player. Knight will definitly score points via takedowns and we will see how cautious he is on top. The experts predict that Morgan will snatch the arm for a career saving submission victory.

HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION

John Tekakiri v frank hansen

Another showcase bout for two struggling heavyweights. John Tekakiri (0-2) takes on Frank Hansen (1-2). Tekakiri lost his last bout via unanimous decision and desperately needs a victory to turn his career around. Frank Hansen has had an up and down career and was seen in action suffereing an embarrassing KO loss early in the bout.

These two fighters share similar skillsets and experience, but Hansen has the slight edge in Muay Thai and Wrestling. Look for both fighters to let it go on the feet, but Hansen has the skills to take it to the ground. Experts predict that Hansen edges Tekakiri for a unanimous deicision.

HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION

KO King v Jet Black

The opening bout is a heavyweight affair that pits KO King (0-2) against Jet Black (0-2). This has fireworks written all over it as Big Boss set up two huge sluggers against eachother. Both fighters are excellent boxers who has had their chins put to the test. What sets them apart is KO King's quickness. He has scary handspeed that can put a lot of fighters lights out. Experts predict that this bout will end in KO with KO King taking the victory.

ROF 5 - Lanakila: Froch Punches His Way to the Top

Hilo, HI (TAP) - Hawaiian fight fans have just enjoyed another great night of action provided by the ICON Ring of Fire organization here at The Underground - Hilo. Fans filled the arena and enjoyed a full 10 fights of exciting action. "I'm real proud with this event. I got to see a ton of fighters show their true potential," stated Big Boss. In the aftermath of the event potential title contenders were established.

One of those contenders was established in the main event as Marlo Froch took on a top ten Hilo lightweight, Kolo Salita. It was a fair short affair as Marlo Froch earned the knock out victory in just 0:35 of the first round. Salita knew where he had to take the bout as he shot in for a takedown to start the fight and after a failed attempt he was quickly stunned from one of Froch's punch. From their the bout hit the ground and Salita looked for a triangle even while being rocked, but Froch played it smart and stood back up. It was all over as it was stood back up as Marlo Froch landed a clean 1-2 combination that had Salita flat on his back. With this victory Marlo has earned himself a shot at the title and Salita is sent back to the drawing board.

The Co-Main event of the evening featured two excellent welterweights making their promotional debut. Popeye Orion decisioned Marka Im A Get Ya in a somewhat lackluster bout. Orion scored takedowns at will but once it hit the ground it seemed as their BJJ canceled eachother out. Their were plenty of referee standups, but Orion did just enough to take the 30-27 decision. From here Orion must put on an exciting fight against one of the other top fighters in the Welterweight division to get a shot at the title.

In other exciting bouts of the night, Tyler Hendrix blasted Dog Shagger with a left hook that earned him his first victory of his career. Captain Morgan bounced back on a weeks rest and submitted the always tough Omni Knight via triangle. He survived a heavy onslaught of ground and pound and snuck the submission in desperation earning him a much needed victory. Also, John Tekakiri earned a guillotine submission victory after successfully pulling guard and forcing the tapout in the second round. Jet Black turned his career around with his first victory as he made quick work of KO King putting him away with a punch in just 0:44 of the first round.

Other winners of the night include JJ Zola, Pili Pangi, and Dave Ogden who all earned tough decision victories in their respective bouts. Ring of Fire provided another great night of fights for Hawaiian fans and looks to do the same next week with ROF 6- Koa.

His next bout is against another great striker in Pit Lord and a win for Shogun will definitly put him in line for the title shot. MAIN EVENT

MIDDLEWEIGHT DIVISION

Jimmy Lange Jnr v Teddy Payne

For the main event of the evening, Jimmy Lange Jnr (3-0) takes on organization newcommer Teddy Payne (2-0). Lange Jnr is a young ground fighter who has OK wrestling ability and a purple belt in BJJ. He is up against Teddy Payne, who is 4 years his elder, and a tough sprawl and brawler from the U.K. This fight is your interesting striker vs grappler contest and should determine one of the top fighters in the middleweight division. A win for either fighter here will definitly put them on the radar of Big Boss.

Jimmy Lange Jnr will want to get this one to the ground as soon as possible. His three wins have all come from submission. He has been dilligently working on his takedowns but we will see come fight time how much they have improved when he goes up against the better wrestler in Payne. In all his fights, Jimmy ended it later in the bout after he worked over his opponent with ground and pound and finally found an opening late in the fight for the submission victory. We will most likely see the same gameplan here where he will have to bob and weave on the feet and bully his way to the ground. Lange Jnr will definitly get hit in the process and we will see his will tested after a couple failed takedowns.

Teddy Payne is looking to make a statement with his recent signing into ICON Ring of Fire. He is deadly sprawl and brawler with the emphasis on wrestling. Hopefully, he sured up his takedown defense from his last fight. He finished his last opponent via strikes and looks to do the same to Lange. If he plays it a little more safe in the striking department he can have his way in this fight.

As good as Payne looks on paper, the underdog, Jimmy Lange Jnr is expected to take this bout. The experts see Lange Jnr. getting this fight to the ground early and getting a limb to mangle late in the 1st round. As good as Payne's wrestling is he hasn't showed much takedown defense and Lange Jnr will capitalize on that.

CO-MAIN EVENT

BANTAMWEIGHT DIVISION

Nelson Jodoin v Tommy Thompson

In the Co-Main Event of the evening, Nelson Jodoin (2-0) will look to continue his hotstreak against "Potato" Tommy Thompson (2-1), who needs to rebound from his last loss at CPP 1. Nelson Jodoin incredibly great grappler with a purple belt in BJJ who has subbed a brown belt twice in his career. His opponent, Tommy Thompson is a well rounded bruiser who fancies the ground as well.

Jodoin has shown better than normal grappling for a purple belt and looks to color up after his two submission victories over a brown belt. He will want this fight on the ground and it doesn't matter to him if ends up on his back or if he gets a takedown of his own. From there it will only take a matter of moments before he grabs his third submission victory to set himself apart from the rest in the bantamweight division.

Tommy Thompson is in for a tough test in this bout. Tommy Thompson is primarily a wrestler who enjoys dishing out a brutal serving of ground and pound, but he might want to rethink his strategy against Jodoin. He should avoid going for takedowns and try to keep this one standing at any cost. His stand-up game is still in development but on the feet it should be an even bout and he may be able to get a decision victory.

The crafty Jodoin is expected to rack up another win. Thompson's ground and pound base will be to hard to change. This fight will end up on the ground eventually and no amount of strikes frop the top will detur Jodoin from getting his submission. Look for Jodoin to get the victory late in the second.

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION

Tommy Fuller v Trace Bradley

In this light heavyweight bout two great athletes are set to face off in the cage. Tommy "Tommy Boy" Fuller (2-1) takes on Trace "The Grinder" Bradley (2-0). Fuller is looking to rebound from a devasting TKO loss suffered against division leader, Brad Johnson, and Bradley's last appearance was a TKO victory early in the first round of his bout. A win for either fighter can help them gain some footing in the increasingly tough 205 division.

Tommy Fuller is a well rounded fighter who can fight anywhere his opponent wants to take the fight. In this bout he more use his decent wrestling ability and power his way to the ground. From their he can take advantage of the lesser experience ground fighter, Trace Bradley. He can expose his opponents white belt and possibly find his 3 submission victory of his career. Fuller has been working his stand up game but does not want to test his chin against a guy like "The Grinder".

Trace Bradley is the always exciting boxer, who has hands of dynamite and a chin of granite. His two (T)KO victories have not gone into the second round and has a total fight time of 1:29. He likes to make quick work of his opponents and once he lays a hand on you it won't be long until it's over. His wrestling and ground game will be tested in this bout and hopefully he sures up his takedown defense to keep this fight standing. If he is lucky it will only take just a few strikes and he can notch another quick victory under his belt.

The always explosive Trace Bradley has the consensus among experts. This bout should be over quickly. Bradley will have another exciting victory. His potential victory will have the rest of the 205 division set their sights on him.

WELTERWEIGHT DIVISION

Chong Li v Manny Diaz

Two organizational newcommers square off in this welterweight bout. Chong Li (3-0), a decent striker with his brown belt in BJJ, takes on Manny Diaz (1-0), a very dangerous boxer from TonBhoy's Gym in Hilo. The ROF's welterweight division is still developing so a win for either fighter will help set them apart from the rest of the field.

Chong Li has a perfect record and has put away those three opponents away with a submission. He has the striking ability to take on a great striker and the very dangerous ground game to submit most fighters. What he lacks is the wrestling to get it to the ground quickly and the muay thai to defend against kicks and knees. Li has a tough chin and it will be on display in this fight. He will look to dabble in the standup department in this fight then somehow find a way to the ground. Whether it's pulling guard or getting a single, Li will eventually need to get it to the ground.

Manny Diaz is an excellent boxer with one win via TKO. He has tremendous striking ability and hands of stone. He also has a blue belt in BJJ, but if he plays it smart he will easily avoid Li's attempts to get it to the ground. Li has a tough chin, but Diaz will see how many of his punches Li can take.

This one is tough to call as it can go either way. Some experts peg Diaz as the potential victor since all fights start standing and Li lacks the wrestling to get it to the ground. Diaz will look to batter Chong Li on the feet and hopefully stuff the many takedown attempts from Li.

LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION

Casey Silk v Kenneth Noisewater

This lightweight bout pits Casey Silk (2-0), who jumps up in divisions, against Kenneth Noisewater (1-1). Silk last saw action against Romano Schoots in the Featherweight Division winning a unanimous decision. Noisewater last fought on CPP 2 and won his fight by submission. Casey Silk may be moving back down in weight is in a showcase fight against Noisewater. A win in this weightclass will help bolster his stock if and when he moves back down to the featherweight division. Noisewater is looking to continue his winning ways against the undersized Silk.

Casey "Super Smooth" Silk is a strong wreslter with a blue belt in BJJ. He is primarily a ground and pound fighter and will most likely score takedowns against his bigger opponent. Silk hasn't shown much power from the top and will probably have a hard time controlling from the top. He must look to score points with takedowns and ground and pound to secure another decision victory.

Kenneth Noisewater has decent wrestling abilities and a blue belt in BJJ. He has a more well rounded ground game than his opponent but against Silk will spend the majority of this bout on his back. From there he will look to bully the smaller fighter and look for sweeps to control the bout. Either way he must find a submission to secure the victory.

The experts really like Casey Silk in this bout. Being the smaller fighter will not hurt his abilities to take it to the ground. From their he will soften up his opponent enroute to a unanimous decision. His potential win will definitly get him atop the featherweight division.

HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION

Lance Rookfield v Luke Skywalker

This heavyweight bout pits Lance Rookfield (0-1) against Luke Skywalker (1-1). This showcase bout will help bring life to the careers of these heavyweight fighters. Lance Rookfield last apperance in the cage ended badly and quickly after 0:12 in the first. Skywalker on the otherhand grinded out a decision victory against Levi Roots at CPP 2.

Lance Rookfield is a strong wrestler with a blue belt in BJJ. He has shown in the gym to be primarily a ground fighter and has the chance to showcase his skills in his upcomming bout. Luke Skywalker is a sprawl and brawler and has a tough test against Rookfield. With a white belt in BJJ, Skywalker wants no part on the ground against Rookfield.

The experets predict another win for Luke Skywalker. His heavy hands combined with Rookfield's shakey chin will earn him another victory under the Ring of Fire banner. The may come quick against Rookfield as he was not able to generate any offense in his lone MMA bout.

WELTERWEIGHT DIVISION

Johnny Hilo v Sang Ju Ko

This welterweight bout showcases the skills of promotion newcommers Johnny Hilo (1-0) and Sang Ju Ko (0-1). These two fighters have the opportunity to impress the ROF executives and also put their names on blast against the rest of the division.

Johnny Hilo is a Hilo native who is primarily a ground fighter. He has a solid wrestling background with a blue belt in BJJ. In his MMA debut he displayed a stifling top game with bruising GNP enroute to a unanimous decision victory. His opponent, Sang Ju Ko has a solid boxing background with a blue blet in BJJ. In his lone MMA bout he lost a decision in a fight he failed to keep standing.

This bout looks tailor made for Johnny Hilo to win. Sang Ju Ko doesn't have the wrestling to keep this standing and only has a brief moment to showcase his stand up skills. If he can't get the job done quickly he will be in a troublesome night mainly spent on his back. Hilo will most likely get the TKO victory or another unanimous decision victory under his belt.

BANTAMWEIGHT DIVISIOn

wesley white v Kiyoshi Tanabe

This bantamweight bout has fire works written all over it as Wesley White (2-0) takes on Kiyoshi Tanabe (0-1). Someone will be getting knocked out in this bout as Big Boss pit two excellent strikers against eachother. White has impressed many with two quick :05 TKO's and Tanabe suffered a stunning defeat in his last bout.

Wesley White and Kiyoshi Tanabe have the opportunity to put their excellent boxing on display. This fight is all about who can get their strikes off first as they both have the ability to end the night quickly.

Wesley White has been picked by experts to add another knock out to his resume. White will not be gunshy to let his hands go and end the night quickly for Tanabe.

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION

Albert Rodriguez v Readen Bugle

This light heavyweight bout pits Albert Rodriguez (1-1) against Readen Bugle (0-1) both looking to rebound from losses. This bout will most likely stay on the feet as both fighters excel in Muay Thai. However, Bugle has a purple belt in BJJ but does not have the wrestling to take it to the ground. If it does hit the ground his BJJ will come in handy against the white belt, Rodriguez.

This bout will most likely take place in the clinch. Bugle has dangerous knees and can brutalize Rodriguez with them. On the otherhand, Rodriguez has displayed amazing kicks and can end the night before it ever reaches the clinch.

This bout is hard to call but has potential to be the fight of the night. Look for amazing display of stand up, devastating clinch work, and a possible knock out victory for someone. Rodriguez has the edge with many experts and is predicted to get the TKO victory in the clinch.

BANTAMWEIGHT DIVISION

dave blackfoot v Joe Little

This bantamweight bout pits Dave Blackfoot (0-2) against fan favorite, Joe Little (1-3). In another showcase bout, these two fighters will look to climb their way from the bottom of the ladder to possibly reach the top of the division. Dave Blackfoot last appearance in the cage ended in a unanimous decision defeat and Joe Little shocked all as he defeated the better striker to earn his first victory in 4 fights.

Dave Blackfoot has the wrestling to get it to the ground, but he has showed a tendancy to keep it standing. If he wants to play it smart he will take Joe Little down and abuse his white belt in BJJ. If Blackfoot wants to keep it standing he is giving Joe Little an even playing field and a chance to win. Joe Little on the other hand is a fighter struggling to keep his MMA career afloat. He's a fighter who never quicks and loves to be the underdog.

Blackfoot is the favorite among experts. He has the wrestling ability and BJJ to win this fight easily on the ground but never count out Joe Little. This scrappy fighter always puts up a great fight and this match won't be any different. Dave Blackfoot will have a tough time putting Little away but he will be able to get the unanimous decision.

ROF 6 - Koa: Teddy Brings the Pain... Jodoin submits another victom

Hilo, HI (TAP) - ROF 6 marked another event down for the Ring Of Fire organization and another exciting night of action for hawaiian MMA fans. Fans piled into the Underground in Hilo and jam packed the venue to it's capacity. The fans enjoyed 10 full fights and witnessed several potential title contenders stake their claim.

One of those potential contenders came through in the Main Event. Teddy Payne edged Jimmy Lange Jnr in hard fought decision. The purple belt, Lange Jnr., got off to an early start as he found a nice takedown into mount early in the first. From there Teddy Payne was able to fight off numerous submission attempts and found his way back to his feet. The rest of the fight was all Teddy Payne as he scored throughout the second round with punch combinations. The final round even saw Teddy Payne, a blue belt, take top control and finish out fight on top scoring with ground and pound. In the eyes of the judges, Teddy Payne did just enough to get his 30-27 victory. "It wasn't the most exciting bout but Payne impressed me in this bout. A win or two that are impressive will definitly have me consider him for title contention," said Big Boss after reflecting about the fight.

The Co-Main Event of the evening saw Nelson Jodoin once again show off his ground wizardy as he finished off Tommy Thompson with a guillotine choke in just 0:37 in the first round. It was Thompson who initiated the ground game as he scored with a nice double leg takedown which landed him into Jodoin's guard. From there Jodoin quickly capitalized on Thompson's movement and cinched a Guillotine submission for the win. The submission was so impressive that ROF sponsors, Hell's Balls Fightwear and CROWN, have decided to award $500 to Nelson Jodoin for ths Submission of the Night.

The young, Trace Bradley, was also another recipient of a nice bonus from Hell's Balls Fightwear and Crown as he secured the Knockout of the Night award. He earned this award after knocking out Tommy Fuller with a wicked straight right that ended the bout at 2:20 of the first round. Lance Rookfield and Luke Skywalker put one hell of a show that earned them Fight of the Night honors. In the bout, Rookfield dominated Skywalker with vicious ground and pound to earn the 30-25 decision victory. Both fighters will enjoy a nice bonus from ROF sponsors.

In other exciting action of the night, Chong Li found a triangle submission on his opponent Manny Diaz. In what was expected to be a stand up war ended quickly as Li found the takedown and gave up position to find the submission victory. Johnny Hilo stayed true to his pre-fight words as he finished Sang Ju Ko in just 2:23 of the first round. Johnny found the takedown early and advanced all the way to mount. From there he used his vicious ground and pound to get the TKO victory.

Albert Rodriguez destroyed Readen Bugle in their bout. Rodriguez rocked Bugle early from the clinch and tried to finish it on the ground. It was not till the second round where Rodriguez toyed with Bugle on the ground and let him up to deliver a head kick that crumpled Bugle to end the fight. Also, Dave Blackfoot finally secured his first win of his career as he finished the scrappy fighter, Joe Little, with a Rear Naked Choke.

The card also featured several hard fought and exciting decision wins. Casey Silk edged the much bigger Kenneth Noisewater getting the victory with the scores of 29-28, 29-28, 30-27. In a fight that was spent mainly on the ground, Silk was able to do more damage with ground and pound and held more dominant positions to secure himself the victory. The other bout saw Wesley White sweep Kiyoshi Tanabe on the judges scorecard. White was the more precise fighter as he scored more points compared to the wildly swining Tanabe.

It was another exciting night for Hilo fight fans as every card saw hard fought battles on display. The fans will have enjoy another great of action as ROF 7 - Kahuna takes place next week. So fight fans be prepared for a night full of action as Xaiver Gracie takes on Mason Storm and Alamimo Hoku battles Freddy Lee in the headlining bouts of the card. Big Boss would like to thank ROF sponsors Hell's Balls Fightwear and CROWN for all their support.

ROF 7 - Kahuna Preview

MAIN EVENT

HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT

Xavier Gracie v Mason Storm

This has Fight of the Night written all over it. Heavyweights, Xaiver Gracie (3-1) and Mason Storm (2-0), are set to headline ROF 7 - Kahuna. Gracie last appeared at CPP 3 and destroyed his opponent, Eric Sanders, in just 0:34 seconds. While Mason Storm hasn't fought since CPP 3 where he survived an early onslaught to secure a RNC submission victory. A win for either fighter will definitly put them one win away from a shot at the heavyweight strap.

"X" as he is nicknamed trains out of Dream Fitness in Montreal. He is comming into this bout with a strong BJJ background and has great stand up skills as he diplayed in his last bout. He is primarily a boxer and must avoid the clinch in this bout. Xavier must pick his shots from afar and use his heavy hands to connect with the chin of Storm. If this bout ever hits the ground then Xaiver has the big advantage. He currently has a Purple belt in BJJ and can make quick work of Storm on the ground.

Mason Storm is in for quite a fight in this bout. He is the always dangerous Muay Thai Fighter and can hold his own on the ground. He might not have to worry too much about the ground as neither fighter has much experience in the wrestling department. So in this bout Mason Storm must bully Xaiver in the clinch. From their he can pepper his opponent with knees and elbows and look for a stoppage. If he can't get to the clinch then his kicks will be a huge factor in this fight. Storm must use them to take the spring of out Xaiver's step and from their he can implement his clinch work.

The deciding factor in this bout will be who can take the harder shot. Xaiver has a chin of granite while Storm's chin was exposed in his last bout. So experts have picked Xaiver to come away the victor in this potentially dramatic bout. Expect early flurries from both men and Xaiver getting the upper hand in the exchanges. Xaiver by KO early in the first round.

CO MAIN EVENT

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT

Alamimo Hoku v Freddy Lee

This bout has been declared a number 1 contenders bout for the Light Heavyweight title. The winner of this bout will meet Brad Johnson at the big New Years event for the title. Both Alamimo Hoku (4-1) and Freddy Lee (2-0) are big recent signings to Ring of Fire that have added depth to the Light heavyweight division. This is your classic striker vs grappler bout with huge reward to the winner.

Alamimo Hoku has torn through his competition with his only hiccup against Henry Bafana losing by submission. However, Hoku has put away each of his 4 opponents by knock out with 4 different type of strikes. He has shown incredible punching power and ability that should have Freddy Lee worried. In this bout Hoku has one plan and that is to land strike at will and hope they put Lee out on his feet. He must avoid the ground at all cost and it helps that Lee has little wrestling experience. Hoku is riding so high in confidence that he can taste the championship belt already.

Freddy Lee is fairly green compared to his opponent but this BJJ Brown belt is prepared for anything. His last showing at CPP 3 has jettisoned him to the big stage and a win here can get him near the top. He needs to get this bout to the ground by any means necessary but he will have a hard time with his limited wrestling experience. Hopefully, Lee has been dilligently training takedowns in preparation for this big fight. Once it's on the ground he will have his way with Hoku and can secure any submission he deems suitable.

This could end early for either fighter. Hoku has the power in his hands and Lee is a wizard on the ground. Look for Hoku to unload early and often putting away Freddy Lee early in the first round earning himself a shot at the belt.

MIDDLEWEIGHT BOUT

John Locke v Jake Hall

This is an interesting matchup to say the least. It is interesting to see Purple belt, Jake Hall (1-1), take on Black Belt, John Locke (3-0). Both are primarily ground fighters but Hall must be confident in his wrestling and defensive grappling to accept this fight.

John Locke is the relative unknown Black Belt training out of SCS in Montreal. He hasn't seen action since 07/04/2009 where he fought as a brown belt and won by Armbar submission. Since his last bout he has been dilligently training his wrestling and striking skills to finally turn himself into a capable mixed martial artist. This looks like an easy bout for Locke as his opponent is a ground fighter and it will take a matter of moments before "Leg" Locke finds any kind of submission he wants.

Jake Hall is in for one hell of a fight against Locke. He has decent wrestling and a purple belt in BJJ, but he should want no part of the ground in thie fight. Hopefully, he has been training his takedown defense as he can even out the fight on the feet.

Experts have Locke as a lock. Wheather he gets taken down or gets one of his own this bout will hit the ground and it will end fast. Locke will continue his winning ways while Hall will pray for a better matchup in his next fight.

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT BOUT

Mario Turk v Mark Kyle

This light heavyweight bout pits two undefeated strikes against eachothere. Mario Turk (2-0) is the dangerous boxer and Mark Kyle (1-0) is the strong Muay Thai fighter. This bout has the potential to be a slug fest as I'm sure neither fight has any intentions to bring this to the ground.

Mario Turk will want to utilize all his skills in the stand up game. He has a strong boxing background and doesn't mind fighting in the clinch. In his last appearance he out pointed his opponent by utilizing his dirty boxing and picking apart his opponent on the outside. Turk will look to utilize the same gameplan against his next opponent to remain undefeated in his career.

Mark "The Killer" Kyle dominated his last opponent in the clinch where he battered his way to a unanimous decision. He is going to want to keep this fight close quarters as he doesn't want to be picked apart from afar. I see Kyle initiating the clinch often to score points with knees and elbows. Kyle must over come a slight height and weight difference in this bout to bully Turk in the clinch. If he can't find the clinch he might be in for a long night.

This is a hard fight to call as both men have the skills to win this fight. However, this bout will be determined in the clinch. So expect a gritty close quarter fight between these two. Mario Turk seems to be the slight favorite in this bout as he has the skills to fight from a distance and the strength to not be overpowered in the clinch. Expect a close fight that goes in Turks favor.

LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT

Mitchell MonRoe v danny kelly

In this lightweight bout, Mitchell MonRoe (3-1) moves up in weight to take on Danny Kelly (1-0). This should be another exiciting stand up bout as both MonRoe and Kelly are proven strikers. MonRoe is a proven kick boxer while the younger fighter, Kelly, is a dangerous boxer.

Mitchell MonRoe has been told he could stay at Lightweight to challenge for the belt if he is successful in this fight. He is a very versatile striker who mixes it up with punches, kicks, and various strikes within the clinch. He is far more experienced than his opponent so he shouldn't be afair to come out aggressive against Danny Kelly. If he is able to blitz Kelly early in the fight then he can secure another TKO victory and set himself up for a title shot.

Danny Kelly wants to play spoiler in this bout. A win for him here will definitly skyrocket him near the top of the lightweight division. He is a very sound striker and has decent wrestling. He may want to get this fight to the ground and utilize his better grappling skills to secure an upset. If he is confident in his standup then he should by all means keep this fight standing. Kelly is much more of a brawler than a refined striker and if he is able to land then he can surprised MonRoe with a knock out.

This match really depends on where Kelly wants to take this bout. He has to wrestling and ground game to dictate this bout and its pretty much his fight to lose. However, Mitchell MonRoe seems to be the favorite in this bout and is expected to score another quick and exciting KO to set him up for a potential title bout.

LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT

Dung Pee v Illacme Plenipes

This lightweight bout is the debut of Illacme Plenipes (0-0) and is a must win bout for Dung Pee (0-0). Both fighters are excellent Muay Thai strikers, but Dung Pee hasn't had the career he has hoped for.

Dung Pee must find a way to turn his career around and he has the chance in an evenly matched fight. In his last bout he suffered a stunning 0:40 KO loss at the hands of Sammy Miller. Hopefully, that knockout has lite a fire under his ass and he will come into this bout like their is no tomorrow. He must ultilize his 8 points of attack to find his first victory in the cage. Although his opponent isn't versed on the ground, he should keep this standing as he doesn't possess the wrestling ability to bring this to the ground at will.

Illacme Plenipes is somewhat of a myster as he is making his MMA debut. He has had a decent Muay Thai career and has been training at BFS to train the rest of his MMA skills. He has proven to be a decent wrestler and has learned just enough to keep this bout standing. He can also ultilize his new found wrestling skills to control the clinch better than his opponent. He does have the height and reach advantage and being a MT fighter it will come in handy as it will be easier for him to land high kicks and Knees.

Look for Illacme Plenipes to come away with the victory in this bout. Little is known about his chin, but Dung Pee has been KO'd before and that is not going to stop Plenipes from finding the finish. Also, being the taller fighter will just work in his favor as he will find his strikes land with ease. After this bout, Dung Pee will be left wondering about his MMA career.

MIDDLEWEIGHT BOUT

Danny O Malley v Paul McIntosh

The young Danny O'Malley (1-0) takes on undefeated Paul McIntosh (2-0) in this middleweight bout. Word has it that their is a little bit of bad blood between the two as O'Malley has been talking a ton of trash about McIntosh. He feels that McIntosh doesn't deserve any of the credit he has been given and wants to prove it in the ring that his wins mean nothing. It will be up to the much older McIntosh to prove him wrong.

Both fighters are evenly matched in this bout. They both have their blue belt in BJJ and have similar experience in Muay thai and wrestling. Danny O'Malley's last appearance in the cage was a TKO victory over "The Giant" Steve Jones while Paul McIntosh destroyed Josh Fuents in a unanimous decision.

The deciding factor in this bout will be the standup. Paul McIntosh has been dilligently training his boxing for preparation for this bout and with his new found skills he can edge Danny O'Malley in this fight. Whereas, Danny O'Malley possesses incredible KO power. O'Malley may need to land only one strike to put an end to McIntosh's win streak. Experts have given the slight edge to McIntosh as he will probably been the smarter fighter by picking his shots and countering the brawling, Danny O'Malley. McIntosh via decision by impressive boxing.

WELTERWEIGHT BOUT

Cain Winner v Blood Seeker

This match is very similar to the Plenipes/Pee matchup as both men are excellent strikers but in the dicipline of boxing. Cain Winner (1-3) in his career and Blood Seeker (0-0) is making his MMA debut.

Cain Winner and Blood Seeker are both proven boxers in the ring and it will come down cage control to determine the winner. It is about who can be more accurate with their punches and score more points with the judges. Cain must rebound from his recent loss to really get his MMA career back on track and Blood Seeker looks to play spoiler.

The experts pick Blood Seeker to pick up his first MMA victory. Inside sources at the Winner camp have told reporters that he has lost his spark. That he doesn't have much fight left in him. Look for Blood Seeker to display his KO power or outpoint Winner in an all out boxing match.

WELTERWEIGHT BOUT

Dennis Turcotte v Chuck Penn

In this undercard bout, Welterweights Dennis Turcotte (0-0) and Chuck Penn (1-0) due battle. This is a showcase bout for these fighters as they look to prove they belong in this organization. It is an evenly matched fight as both men will look to get this to the ground and utilize their blue belts in BJJ.

Turcotte although unproven in the cage is the better wrestler on paper and will look to control this bout on the top. Chuck Penn will look to use his ground savy knowledge to avoid the bottom by scoring sweeps and look to score points with GNP and close submission attempts. This bout will come down ground control as it is known that most of this bout will be spent on the ground.

It is litterally a toss up as to who will come out with the victory. Although Penn has the edge in experience it will be tough fighting out from the bottom against the more proved wrestler. Look for Turcotte to impress in his MMA debut has he grinds out a tough decision victory over Chuck Penn.

LIGHTWEIGHT BOUT

Brian Clinger v panco villa

The opening bout of the card pits two down on their luck warriors, Brian Clinger (1-2) and Panco Villa (0-3), against eachother. A win here for either man will make them feel better about their career choice while the loser might be found at the unemlpoyment line.

Brian Clinger is the more well rounded fighter being versatile on the feet and on the ground. He has an up and down career with his last showing in the cage was a quick :08 knockout at the hands of Marlo Froch. Panco Villa's last showing was against Kolo Salita where he lost via armbar submission. Panco is predominatly a striker and has shown decent boxing in each of his 3 losses.

This bout will come down to who wants it more and who has the heart to go about with their game plan. Panco Villa will definitly land shots on the feet and it's known that Clinger will try and get this bout to the ground as soon as possible. The wrestling of each fighter will be a huge part of this bout as neither fighter has a the high caliber of wrestling to keep the fight where they want it. Expects pick Clinger to rebound from his last loss and finish Villa with a submission.

ROF 7 - Kahuna: Gracie blows past Storm... Lee earns his title shot...

Hilo, HI (TAP) - Tonights ROF event lived up to their Kahuna moniker as the big men flourished and title contenders

were named. Fight fans jam packed The Underground in Hilo and witnessed 10 amazing fights. CROWN supplements and Hell's Balls Fightwear proudly sponsored tonights event. Gracie, Storm, Lee, and Hoku headlined the event and they ended the show with a bang.

In the main event of the evening, Xaiver Gracie put away Mason Storm with a crisp combination at just 0:25 into the first round. Gracie took the center of the ring as the bell rang and quickly dropped Storm with a combination. Still rattled, Storm got to his feet and urgently tried to find the clinch but had no success. From there Gracie used a powerful jab to set up the 1-2 combination that ended the night for Mason Storm. "X" has had a nice resurgence ever since migrating to Hilo and has taken control of the Heavyweight division. Manny from HBF and Jason Smith from CROWN have awarded Xaiver Gracie with the KOTN bonus. Another win will definitly earn him a chance to fight for the Heavyweight Title.

Freddy Lee earned his chance to fight for the Light Heavyweight Title with his win tonight. This was a classic striker vs grappler bout and it was the grappler who prevailed. Freddy Lee scored an easy takedown on Alamimo Hoku to start the match. The brown belt, Lee, avoided a triangle attempt from Hoku then proceeded to pass to half guard. From there Lee snatched Hoku's arm and wrenched it behind his back for the Kimura submission. His impressive ground work earned him a bonus from sponsors, HBF and CROWN.

The undercard also features some very entertaining fights. John "Leg" Locke returned to action and outclasses Jake Hall on the ground. Hall initiated the ground game and it only took 0:32 for the black belt, John Locke, to secure the Triangle submission. Another quick fight was between Mario Turk and Mark Kyle. Turk scored the only offense of the fight as he ended Kyele's night with a big right hand. Illacme Plenipes impressed Big Boss with his 0:05 knockout on Dung Pee via brutal headkick.

In other undercard action, Mitchell MonRoe and Danny Kelly stole the show. Their gritty 3 round war has earned them both a nice bonus from Hell's Balls Fightwear and CROWN for Fight of the Night. MonRoe's diverse striking ability was put on display as he landed nearly 99% of his strikes. Kelly was outclassed but showed true heart as he took every strike with a smile and continued to fight till the very end. In the end, Monroe took the win via decision with 30-27 on all the judges score cards.

The rest of the undercard was filled with hard fought decisions. Rivals, Danny O Malley and Paul McIntosh completely nutralized eachother to the dismay of fightfans. McIntosh earned a split decision victory as he showed more control on the feet and on the ground. Blood Seeker completely battered Cain Winner to earn his decision victory at ROF 7. Dennis Turcotte took an easy victory over Chuck Penn as he scored takedowns at will and controlled the bout with a smothering top game. The opening fight of card of the bout saw Brian Clinger get the submission victory over Panco Villa.

"ROF 7 - Kahuna was a big success," stated Big Boss after the show. "I was impressed with all the fights and how they ended. Every one of these fighters put it all on the line tonight and I'm very happy with the outcomes." ROF 8 - Menehune is up next for the organization which features top ten Hilo bantamweight, Nelson Palau, take on Basje Schrauwen.

MAIN EVENT

BANTAMWEIGHT DIVISION

Nelson Palau v Basje Schrauwen

In the main event of the evening two Bantamweights, Nelson Palau (3-1) and Basje Schrauwen (2-0), are set to due battle over the top of the division. A win for either fighter will make it hard for Big Boss to deny them of a title shot.

Nelson Palau has been on a nice win streak as of late rattling off 3 consecutive wins all by submission. His last figth saw him make quick work of B A as he finished him by guillotine 3:28 in the first round. Palau is the young, cocky, and brash ground specialist who has his purple belt in BJJ. He currently is the 2nd ranked Hilo bantamweight and a win here will most likely get him that top spot. Their is no secret where he wants to get this fight to. Nelson will look to stick and move to avoid the strong striking skills of his opponent and counter his way into a takedown. If Palau can get it to the ground it is more than likely he will have his way with Schrauwen on the ground where he can find an opening for a finish.

Basje Schrauwen has a tough test for him in this bout. The elder, yet less known Muay Thai fight has a lot to gain in this bout. A win here will definitly get him in the top ten rankings of Hilo's Bantamweights and shake up the ROF rankings. Schrauwen was last seen at ROF 4 where he battered JB Kingston in the clinch enroute to a unanimous decision. This sprawl and brawler will look to stuff the takedowns of his opponent and keep this strickly standing. Basje is expected to pummel the legs of Nelson and keep his takedowns at bay. From their he can stick to his bread and butter by going to the clinch and utilizing his dangerous knees.

The hot Nelson Palau is expected to fizzle in this bout. His confidence and spirit will be crushed as Basje Schrauwen will utilize a picture perfect gameplan to pick his opponent apart on the feet. Experts predict that Basje will stuff plenty of Palau's takedowns and burn his energy near the end of the 2nd round. From their it is up to Nelson's willpower to keep upright in this bout as Basje takes a late TKO victory or sweeps the judges scorecards.

CO-MAIN EVENT

LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION

DJ Denn v ryan jones

The co-main event could possibly be a number one contenders bout for the Lightweight title. DJ Denn (4-1) and Ryan Jones (2-0) do battle in a fan favorite Striker vs Grappler matchup. Big Boss has stated that the winner could possibly meet Marlo Froch who is number one in the division at the big New Years event for the ROF Lightweight title.

DJ Denn is a excellent grappler who has his Brown belt in BJJ. He has bounced back from a recent loss after beating fellow brown belt, Captain Morgan, by unanimous decision. He is a savy ground specialist but has yet to learn enough wrestling to bring the fight to where he wants it. His chin will be tested in this bout as he is facing a great striker. DJ Denn must take a beating on the feet and possibly pull guard in the clinch to get this fight on the ground. From their he must use all his will to hold Jones on the ground and use his ground wizardry to work his BJJ magic. Once it hits the ground, Denn can have his way with the BJJ Blue belt.

Ryan Jones is the big recent signing to ROF. He is strictly a Muay Thai fighter and just recently receieved his blue belt in BJJ. He has yet to learn the wrestling to keep this fight standing, but hopes his defensive skills will be enough to keep a Brown belt at bay. Jones will look to soften Denn up with leg kicks and knees in the clinch to make his bid for a shot at the title.

Experts are having a tough time picking a clear cut winner as they think this bout can go either way. But, Denn has the slight edge with experts and in experience. Denn has faced strikers of Jones' caliber before and has put them away decisively. Expect this bout to stay strictly on the feet at first but as the fight wears on Denn will be able to sneak his way into takedowns and find a finish from their, thus earning himself a title bid.

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION

Shogun Silva v Pit Lord

This is an epic light heavyweight fight. These two fighters, Shogun Silva (3-0) and Pit Lord (2-0), are set to take battle to possibly set them up for a future title shot.

Shogun Silva is a big signing from Montreal. He last saw action in Rio where he defeated his opponent by unanimous decision. Shogun is a very well rounded MMA fighter who can stand and bang or out grapple you on the ground. He has yet to develope a wrestling game so he has to contend with the excellent boxing skills of his opponent. If Shogun can somehow find this way to the ground he can easily utilize his purple belt in BJJ to have his way with his opponent. It seems it should be easier for Silva to utilize his advantage in the clinch to soften up his opponent and somehow find his way to the ground to finish him off.

Pit Lord is the one dimensional striker who has battered his last two opponents to stay undefeated in his career. He is a strict boxer who has just made his crossover to MMA. In his last fight, he destroyed his opponent on the feet enroute to a unanimous decision. In that bout he should more than adequate takedown defense. In this bout he will look to utilize his speed and agility to out point his opponent on the feet. If he can keep it out of the clinch he can pelt his opponent from a distance and score enough points to get the nod on the judges scorecard.

This should be an exciting bout for fight fans as this should be strickly a stand up affair. Look for Shogun Silva to utilize his experience in the cage to dabble slightly in the stand up game against Pit Lord but somehow find his way to the ground. From there he can man handle his opponent to get the finish and remain undefeated.

MIDDLEWEIGHT DIVISION

Victor Pelfort v Douglas Adams

This middleweight bout pits two organizational newcommers, Victor Pelfort (1-0) and Douglas Adams (2-1), against eachother. These two youngsters are both 18 years of age and will need a win to get them out of the middle of the pack fo the Middleweight division.

Both fighters are relatively similar in every aspect of the game. This fight will no doubt remain on the feet as both fighters have shown ample ability to duke it out on the feet. What sets them apart is their striking style. Victor Pelfort is more of a traditional MT fighter while Douglas Adams is more of a Kickboxer. This bout will determined by who can impose their gameplan. Pelfort will definitly not be shy trying to clich where he can use his knees to wear out his opponent. On the other hand, Adams will look to pelt his oppenent with leg kicks and stay at a distance. He will also mix it up with simple combos to keep his opponent guessing.

Although Victor Pelfort is a more sound striker on paper, experts predict Douglas Adams to take this fight based off his experience. Douglas will not be afraid to engage as he is expected to swarm Pelfort early and find the KO victory early in the first.

HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION

Rafael Villa v Gay Lets Go

In this heavyweight bout, Rafael Villa (2-0) takes on newcommer Gay Lets Go (1-0). This is a big fight for both fighters as Villa looks to keep his hold on his spot in the top 5 of the division and Lets Go wants to pull off the big upset to get him near the top of the charts.

Rafael VIlla is a well rounded fighter who can hold his own in a stand up battle but would much rather use his brown belt to find his victory. He made his career start at ROF and has finished his two opponents via submission. Villa will have a tough time in this bout as he is up against the better striker and wrestler in Gay Lets Go. Rafael Villa will be forced to keep it standing and just hope he can find a way to the ground. Look for Villa to trade on the feet and counter his way to the ground where he can abuse his opponent and find a submission victory.

Gay Lets Go is your typical sprawl and brawler. In his lone MMA bout Gay Lets Go surprisingly won via submission but don't expect that to happen in this bout unless pigs start flying. Gay Lets Go has to keep this fight on the feet at all cost and he is lucky he has the big advantage in the wrestling department. He has solid hands and if he can land that big punch it could be all over for Villa.

This is a tricky bout to call but experts are picking Rafael Villa to take the win. Rafael Villa will fight a smart fight where he will oblige Lets Go on the feet only to change levels and looks for a takedown. Villa only needs to be successful once as once this bout hits the mat it will be all over.

HEAVYWEIGHT DIVISION

Robert Dyrdek v Pedro Arroyo

This heavyweight bout should be a highly contested and exciting bout. Robert Dyrdek (1-1) takes on Pedro Arroyo (0-1) in what should be mainly a stand up affair. Dyrdek last appearance in the cage saw him winning via punches in the first round and suffered a hard fought submission loss in his debut MMA bout.

These two fighters share the same fighting styles as they are both primarily boxers. Pedro Arroyo is the more sound striker on paper but failed to show his effectiveness in his lone bout. Dyrdek on the other hand as shown his willingness to exchange on the feet and it doesn't look like he will change his strategy for this bout. These two heavy handed fighters will look to knock eachothers block off and it will be a matter of time till one of them is lying flat on their back.

Robert Dyrdek has the slight edge with the experts pick. He has the height and reach advantage and those little differences could determine the winner of this bout. Look for both men to come out and bang right as the bell rings. Each fighter will have the opportunity to get their licks in but Durdek is expected to be the one to come out on top.

WELTERWEIGHT DIVISION

Mike Hock v dony jaa

In this welterweight division bout, MIke Hock (0-1) takes on Dony Jaa (0-0). This opening bout pits two similar fighters against eachother who are looking to put their name on the map in the stacked welterweight division. Let it be noted that Dony Jaa has been strugglin to make weight as of late and has forcused more on his weight cutting rather than focusing on his opponent.

Mike Hock is a solid boxer who has a decent ground game. His only bout saw him on the losing end on a KO finish. He showed his versatility in that loss as he was able to hold his own in every aspect of the game. His opponent, Dony Jaa, is primarily a kickboxer who also has his blue belt in BJJ. He is making his MMA debut and looks to start it off on the right foot.

Hock is the more experienced fighter and he is expected to take this bout and spoil Jaa's debut. Hock has the more well rounded game and if he gets too roughed up on the feet he has the wrestling to get out of trouble and bring the fight to the ground. Experts have Hock taking a unanimous decision, but not winning over many fans for his excitment.

LIGHTWEIGHT DIVISION

Sammy Miller v Wanderlei Silva

Sammy Miller (1-1) and Wanderlei Silva (1-1) are set to due duke it out in this lightweight bout. These two fighters are perfectly matched to put on an exciting bout for fight fans. Miller last fought at CPP 3 where he brutally KO'd Dung Pee and Silva was devastated on the same card by Iron Knuckles via submission.

Sammy Miller last showing proved he had dynamite in his hands and excellent boxing skills. In order for him to win the fight he must keep his distance and pick off his opponent with the jab and score with big combos. Silva is your dangerous MT striker who can batter your legs with kicks and suck the life out of you from within the clinch. He also has a purple belt in BJJ so if he is able to get it othe ground against Miller it should be an easy win from their. Neither fighter has the wrestling to keep this bout to where they want it so it should mostly remain contested on the feet.

Silva is expected to take this bout against Sammy Miller. This primarily stand up affair will see both fighters chins tested but it will come down to who can remain more versatile on the feet. Wanderlei Silva will pick apart Miller mainly in the clinch as he will batter him with Knees. Once soften up Silva can find the finish by TKO.

BANTAMWEIGHT DIVISION

Jesus Chavez v JB Kingston

This bantamweight bout pits Jesus Chavez (1-3) against JB Kingston (1-1) who both are recovering from recent defeats. J.C. was last stopped by Luca Lindholm by strikes at CPP 3 and JB Kingston was on the wrong end of a decision against Basje Schrauwen at ROF 4.

Chavez has the skills to be a great fighter but has been on the wrong end of a couple decisions. A win here will help get him back on the right track. He is decent Muay Thai striker who works mainly out of the clinch. The young JB Kingston is a an average well rounded MMA fighter who should have a tough test agasint J.C.

Experts believe that Jesus Chavez will rebound from his current losing streak. He will abuse JB Kingston in the clinch and hit him with a plethera of knees and elbows. Chavez is expected to show promise in a decision win or find a late TKO victory over Kingston.

FEATHERWEIGHT DIVISION

paul johnson v Marcelo Silva

This opening bout marks the resurgence of the featherweight division. Paul Johnson (2-0) takes on Marcelo Silva (1-1) in what should be an all out ground war.

These two fighters are exact mirror images of eachother as they are both primarily ground fighters. They both have their brown belts in BJJ yet they don't bring much else to the table. Johnson looks to have the better graps on takedowns and will most likely secure top position for much of the duration of the bout. Marcelo Silva will look to play a loose guard where he can open up Johnson for submissions or sweeps. Fans are in for a fine display of BJJ mastery in this bout.

Look for Paul Johnson to continue his success as a one dimensional grappler. He has displayed a more vicious and aggresive bjj game and will force Marcelo Silva to commit a mistake. If Johnson is not able to find a finish he will most likely score enough points to take a unanimous decision.

ROF 8 - Menehune: The Little Guys Shine...

Hili, HI (TAP) - The little guys do it once again tonight here in Hilo. Fight fans flocked the Underground in Hilo and filled the arena for tonights event. The main event fights of the evening featured the lighter weight classes and they were sure to not disapoint.

Nelson Palau and Basje Schrauwen were featured in the main event. It was a three round war that saw Palau take the victory via triangle choke submission. It was a hard fought battle that was spent mainly on the ground. Schrauwen spent the majority of the bout defending takedowns and fighting off his back as he failed to land any significant strikes while standing. The end was near early in the third as Schrauwen managed to squeeze out of a tight arm triangle and secure top position. On top Schrauwen let his guard down and Palau saw the opening to secure the triangle for the finish. The fight not only earned each fighter a Fight of the Night bonus from sponsors Hell's Balls Fightwear and CROWN but has also earned Palau a shot at the Bantamweight title with an yet to be determined opponent.

The Co-Main event also found a fighter worthy of a shot against Marlo Froch for the lightweight title. DJ Denn went up against Ryan Jones in a clash of styles matchup. Denn, the grappler, took a beating from Jones, the striker, before getting the fight to the ground. DJ Denn's chin held up against numerous head kicks from Jones until he finally landed his takedown. From there Denn looked for the finish and capitalized on a mistake from Jones to gain back control and find the rear naked choke just moments later. With his win Denn will meet Froch at ROF 10 - Poni Mo'i for the lightweight belt.

On the undercard, Douglas Adams destroyed Victor Pelfort winning by knockout via head kick. In the bout Pelfort was relentlessly looking for a takedown but was had every attempt thwarted. Adams used those opportunities to land a headkick that rocked Pelfort. Two headkicks later and it was all she wrote for Pelfort earning Douglas Adams the big win.

Also on the card was heavyweights Rafael Villa and Gay Lets Go. It was an easy fight for Villa as Lets Go found the early takedown and decided to test his ground game against the brown belt. That wasn't a smart thing to do as Villa used his superior ground game to secure a beautiful armbar forcing the tap with just seconds to go in the first round. Another heavyweight that impressed was Robert Dyrdek. He made quick work of Pedro Arroyo finishing him with strikes to find the KO victory. His 0:20 1st round victory earned him the Knockout of the Night bonus from tonights sponsors.

Sammy Miller also scored a quick knockout in tonights event. His opponent, Wanderlei Silva, was not prepared for the blitzkrieg as Miller swarmed him and used a body shot to set up the the combination that ended the fight at 0:48 of the first round.

Another exciting bout of the night was the ground war between Paul Johnson and Marcelo Silva. These two brown belts traded submission attempts after submission attempts in the first round to the delight of fans. Then in the second Johnson scored an early takedown caught Silva off guard from the half guard position to sneak a kimura find the finish.

The rest of the card was filled with decisions. In his fight, JB Kingston battered Jesus Chavez for three full rounds to earn the unanimous decision. Although Kingston took the victory he called it quits after his fight. Also on the card Mike Hock edged out Dony Jaa to earn the unanimous decsion victory. Hock controlled the tempo of the bout and played it safe in his victory. The fight between Pit Lord and Shogun Silva was a slugfest. It was a wild and somewhat sloppy afair that went in Pit Lord's favor. Shogun was dejected by his loss and a possible rematch could be held in the future.

All in all it was another successful event for Big Boss and Ring of Fire. "I can't wait to see how things shape up for the big new years event. We got some big fights coming up next and I can't wait to see how that goes. I'm impressed with tonights winners and I got some big things planned for them," said Big Boss. So tune in next week as ROF will be holding its first set of double events for the weekends in ROF's Mokomoko Po 1 and ROF 9 - Kalikamaka Aftermath.

ROF's Mokomoko Po 1 - Title Implications

Hilo, HI (TAP) - This week brings a new installment of action as Ring of Fire introduces it's first Mokomoko Po event, which loosely translate to "Fight Night" in the hawaiian language. With the steady influx of new fighters, Big Boss has decided to host these new bi-weekly events to get them more experience.

"We have boosted our roster by leaps and bounds and I feel it's necessary to throw these bi weekly events to keep our fighters active," said ROF owner, Big Boss. "This event not only gets our newer guys fighting but this event has some title implications. Our main event features Popeye Orion and Chong Li and the winner will receive a shot at the Welterweight title."

The main event features Popeye Orion (4-0) and Chong Li (4-0) who both are eyeing their shot at the welterweight title. It may seem like an easy win for Chong Li as he is the better striker and grappler but don't count out the scrappy Popeye Orion. The younger Orion also has height and weight disadvantage but those things will not faze him. This bout will feature two ground wizards at their best. Li may have the advantage on the ground but one mistake can open up an opportunity for Orion to win. Count on both fighters to go all out for their chance at the gold.

Casey Silk (3-0) takes on Kaila Anne (1-0) in the Co-Main event of the evening. Casey Silk, who had a short stint at Lightweight, moves back down to Featherweight to continue his dominance. The strong wrestler faces a stiff test in Kaila Anne who is an experience Muay Thai striker with a purple belt in BJJ. This fight is expected be mainly a ground affair as Silk possesses the wrestling pedigree to get it to the ground whenever he see's fit. Anne will be more than happy to oblige as he is comfortable fighting off of his back. Fans can expect powerful takedowns from Silk and a punishing GNP, but if he is not careful Anne can upset Silk with a submission.

The lone bantamweight fight of the night features to undefeated and impressive strikers in Luca Lindholm (2-0) and Johnny Quid (2-0). Lindholm last impressed us at CPP3 where he KO'd his opponent with a headkick. Johnny Quid is a recent signee lookin to make a great first impression at ROF. This should be an exciting stand up war as both fighters possess the skills on the feet to end it with clean shot.

Newcommer Joe Frost (2-0) makes his promotional debut against ROF veteran Andrea Singlaterry (1-1). This is your classic striker vs grappler bout where anything can happen. This fight will come down to the wrestling as Andea has the slight edge in that department. Look for many scuffles in the clinch as Andrea will initiate takedowns at will and Frost looking for the KO punch in the mean time.

Undefeated heavyweight prospects, Callum Thomas (2-0) and Frank Brody (1-0), make their promotional debuts at Mokomoko Po 1. These two respected boxers are equally matched on the feet, but Thomas has the edge in the reach department. Callum Thomas' reach advantage will play a huge role in his victory for this fight but when you pair two heavy handed fighers against eachother anything can happen.

Another pair of unbeaten fighters are set to fight in the Welterweight division. Tay Smith (2-0) takes on Sebastian Audi (2-0) in another classic striker vs grappler affair. Tay Smith is a feared boxer with a decent wrestling background and his counterpart, Sebastian Audi, is a pure jiu jitsu brown belt with slick submissions. Audi might be in for a short night as he will have a tough time getting this bout to the ground.

ROF veteran Jet Black (1-2) looks to continue his winning ways against newcommer Patrick Bateman (1-0). These two heavyweight sluggers are not going to hold anything back as they try to gain a footing in the ROF heavyweight division. Both fighters have decent boxing and heavy hands so fans will enjoy an exciting fight in this one.

Hector Veliahos (1-0) and Kevin Jade (2-0) are another pair of sluggers looking to bring fireworks. The two fighters are both very experienced boxers the only difference is that Veliahos has mixed in Kicks to his bag of tricks. Veliahos only fight did not last more than 5 seconds so expect a quick bout between these two fighters.

This middleweight affair features Bob McGrady (1-0) and DJ Williams (2-0) in what is expected to be primarily a stand up affair. Williams is the boxer and McGrady is the Muay Thai Fighter. Neither fighter has a finish under their belts so expect a hard fought 3 round war.

ROF's Mokomoko Po 1 opens up with a competitive welterweight bout between Pete Dillan (1-0) and struggling Steve Henry (0-2). These two fighters are identical on paper and it should be interesting how this one turns out. This will be Henry's swan song as win or lose he is hanging his gloves up so it is up to Dillan to take advantage of that and use Henry as a stepping stone in his career.
