I'm Arthur Job, from MMA-Night and we're here today, in New York, Kimmy McRiddle. Outside the headquarters of the newest Org in New York. V.F.C.

Arthur: Kimmy, tell me, what made you decide to open an Org?

Kimmy: Well, Arthur, I've managed a few fighters, y'know? I know what it's like to be on the receiving end of terrible contracts, bad matchmaking, or an Org owner who doesn't listen.

Kimmy: I've saved up some money, over the years, and I thought one day. Kimmy, you can make an Org, you can make an Org as good as the ones your fighters are currently in. Only.. you can do it in New York!

Arthur: Which leads us to where we are now. Tell me, Kimmy, Why New York?

Kimmy: Well, Arthur. I scouted around, y'know? I asked the local fighter population, I even paid some pimps, to give me the lowdown on where an Org, for the newer managers, is needed. The general consensus was, New York.

Kimmy: I mean, I'm not looking to be the greatest Org in the world, man, all I want, is a place for fighters to fight, y'know? Fight fair fights. That's all.

Kimmy: I'm living sparse, man, devoted everything I have, y'know? The headquarters, man, they're nothing special. They'll have to do man, they'll have to do.

Arthur: It's a little on the derelict side, Kimmy.

Kimmy: *laughing*: It is, man, it is. The money I save on this place, goes back to my fighters though, man, y'know? The Org owners, in Bentleys and shit, man. Me, i'm riding around in a beat up Volkswagen. You can't beat that shit, man. It has character!

Arthur: Character... absolutely!

Kimmy: So, we're hoping to have our first event, pretty damn fast. Man, y'know? Get those fighters involved quickly, get everybody some extra spends for training *laughs*.

Arthur: You'd say, within the next two weeks then?

Kimmy: Man, i'd hope within the next week, i'm flat broke here, and I need me some smokes!

Arthur: Anything to say to your prospective audience?

Kimmy: Yeah, man, we're recruiting in all weight brackets, currently. Though for some reason man, i've got lots of 265lbs. Who'd have thought i'd come to America and be surrounded by the stereotypical Wal-Mart shopper? *laughs*

Arthur: *nervously laughing*. That's great, Kimmy. We here at MMA-Night would like to wish your the best of luck, in your endeavours.

Kimmy: Thanks man.. got a smoke? I'm dieing here.

This is Arthur Job, for MMA-Night, here at V.F.C's headquarters, to discuss the upcoming opening card, Inception.

Without further ado, let's get started.

Marco Reyes v Corey Hawkins

Tonights main event features a young, but talented Reyes, versus the experienced veteran, Hawkins.

Reyes, renowned for his aggressive ground and pound, will be looking to take this fight to the mat. The only thing that stands in his way? Hawkins, and his superb wrestling, matched well, with a purple belt in BJJ.

This, will be the first real test of Reyes' ground game, against a superior grappler. Will he be able to use those charged hammerfists to break the spirit of Hawkins? Or will Hawkins utilise that superior grappling, and pull off the upset of the night?

James Martin v James Cornegy

Our co-main event this evening, presumably, happened, to settle the issue of who holds the right to use the name 'James', and if that wasn't the case. It should have been!

Martin, a 25 year old veteran, with one win under his belt, comes into this fight, both confident of his victory, and cautious of his opponent. Afterall, Cornegy may be the inferior grappler, but when it comes to the stand up game, he's ahead, by an arm, and a leg (no pun intended)

I imagine the gameplan will be fairly simple, from Martin' corner. Take Cornegy down, at all costs. If Cornegy remains standing, then Martin will likely be taking a trip to KO'ville, courtesy of a winging haymaker. Saying that, though. If that winging haymaker, should miss, I can see a cleanly executed counter takedown, in Cornegys future, the result of which, really won't be to his liking.

Curtis Dodson v Lauren Rabrasandratana

Dodson a 25 year old native, of NYC. Is feeling the pressure, as he faces off against Rabrasandratana (I've had to copy / paste this name throughout the entire preview!) in front of his home town crowd.

Rabrasandratana, hailing from Brooklyn, in France. Is the more inexperienced of the two, in MMA, however, he comes into this bout after multiple impressive victories, in local Wrestling tournaments. Dodson, having the superior BJJ game, should be confident here, but overconfidence, I feel, will lead to a potentially large upset, as Rabrasandratana, is not to be taken lightly, on the ground.

This fight has only one reliable conclusion, and that is the fact that the fight will go to the mat. What happens on the mat, will decide who leaves the ring victorious, and who leaves, well, not victorious.

Cameron Speed v Monk Eastman

This is a potentially interesting match. Young upstart Cameron Speed, is coming into this bout, with two solid wins under his belt. This, has given him enough confidence to threaten Eastmans wife, kids, dog, pretty much anybody related to him, and the entire HW division.

Speed, is without a doubt the more rounded of the fighters here, with an ability to finish this fight anywhere on the mat. Eastman, conversely, relies entirely on his standup, but, that poses its own problems for Speed. If this fight stays standing, can he hang with the big boys, and duke it out, fists a' flying?

Eastman, has had a bad run as of late, with 8 straight losses. Surely, though, chance is now saying that he's due a win? Could this be that chance? Could Speed become overconfident, and overzealous with all the tricks he has available to him?

That's where, truely, this fight can excel, and due to this, is my pick for fight of the night.

Dutch Schultz v CJ Miller

Another fighter, from the camp of Meyer Lansky. Schultz is suffering from the same affliction of 'losing streakitis' as Eastman. Again, though, this just makes Schultz, all the more dangerous. A skilled practitioner of Muay Thai, Schultz will be looking to utilise his clinchwork, against the more rounded stand up game, of Miller.

Miller, however, has the advantage of having the much better boxing game, which says to me, that if this fight can remain out of the clinch, Schultz, will have real issues keeping that big right hand of Miller, at bay.

This was shown in Millers previous fight, where that brutal, big right hand connected, and dropped his opponent in a staggering 29 seconds.

A big right hand, is nothing, though, if you're being clinched and subsequently, not able to use it.

Vladimir Van Kirkland v Shane Wellman Junior

An unknown young MMA fighter, hailing from Moscow, in Russia. Van Kirkland burst onto the MMA scene, with an explosive series of callouts, aimed at his, equally young, and presumably inexperienced opponent, Shane Wellman Junior.

Van Kirkland, stipulated that Wellman, was afraid to fight him. "Why are you afraid?" he asked, in his Russian influenced, broken English. The response, was short, swift, and brutal. With Wellman threatening to KO, Kirkland, with a side order of sending his body, to the morgue. Presumably, after causing death by broken arm, from a finely executed Kimura. (It'll be an MMA first, when this happens)

Van Kirkland, is an accomplished Muay Thai practicioner, whereas Wellman Junior, who favours the more rounded fighting style, excels in nothing, but is competant in all. Whether this gives Wellman the edge, remains to be seen.

Matt Youngblood v Karl Chavez

Matt Youngblood, announced his arrival onto the MMA scene, after a completely unrelated callout, from V.F.C mouthpiece, Jaroslav Jez.

With his first statement to the MMA press, being the threat to 'knock Chavez out'. Chavez, we can only assume, is completely unfaltered by this, as he has yet to respond.

However! Back to the fighters themselves. Youngblood, hailing from Jersey, is a skilled, golden gloves winning, Boxer. Which is in stark contrast, to the local boy, Chavez. Who holds no awards, but is rumoured to hold brutal KO power. Will that KO power do anything without the experience behind it? Possibly, it depends on which game face Youngblood brings to the ring.

If Youngblood is in any way complacent, this fight, could end quicker than he could conceivably imagine. Conversely, if Chavez doesn't bring out his A game, then the golden gloves may just be the last thing he see's, before he hits the mat.

Celso Neto v Bill Goldberg

The relatively young, and certainly inexperienced Neto, goes up against the experienced Bill Goldberg. In this bout. Although the experience, will count for something, make no mistake, Neto is not to be taken lightly.

A skilled BJJ artist, Neto, will be looking to utilise his superior clinchwork, and much superior ground game, to take this bout. Goldberg, however, is not to be taken lightly, with 3 wins, one of which was a submission. Taking him down, may be like Neto sticking his hand into a jar of scorpions, whether he gets stung or not, will be down to the luck of the irish.

Ethan Meeks Jr v Derric Styles

Both fighters here, fresh into the MMA business. With both being young and inexperienced. Meeks, favouring the sprawl and brawl style, faces off against the pure standup, of Styles. The question is, who has the superior standup? Although on paper, Styles takes that award,

Meeks is not to be taken lightly. Especially if he decides to take this fight to the ground, where Styles stands little chance. Conversely, if this fight stays standing, will Meeks be able to hold out against the inevitable onslaught of punches, from a skilled Boxer?

Donald Stewart v Panos Kirifidis

Out last bout of the night, features the locally renowned wrestler, Donald Stewart, versus the rounded gamestyle of Kirifidis.

Kirifidis has the age advantage, in this bout, with over 3 years, on Stewart. While Stewart, has arguably, the advantage of having a brutal ground and pound game.

The question is, can Kirifidis' blue belt, in BJJ, offset the predictably brutal ground game, of Stewart? Would Kirifidis show more intelligence, by keeping this fight standing? Can he keep this fight standing, against a much, much, superior Wrestler?

The ground game, will settle this fight. Whether it swings one way, or the other. Will depend how complacent Stewart is, about the ground game of Kirifidis.

That's it, for the preview of our first event. I hope everybody enjoys reading this preview, as much as I have, writing it.

This is Arthur Job, signing out. For MMA-Night.

I'd just like to pass on my thanks, to all managers and fighters, attending our inaugral event, at the Micro Arena, in New York. The event was a runaway success, with over 330 people attending, and an event rating of 60. Overall, for a first event. It was killer.

Swifty moving on to the review for this card.

Hawkins vs Reyes:

This was always going to be a tough for Reyes. He came into this bout at the BJJ disadvantage, but his previous history of GNP wins, showed that he has no issue mixing it up with the ground boys, where needed.

Reyes seemed extra confident coming into this bout, almost immediately taking the fight to the ground, and delivering some of that trademark GNP of his, however, what he didn't bank on, was Hawkins being somewhat competant in submissions, and after 1 minute gone in the round, Hawkins found his hands, and started cranking on some arms and legs.

Reyes, being a BJJ white belt, really had no answer to these submissions. Eventually falling to a textbook Kimura, 3 minutes into the first round.

Is this the last we'll hear of Reyes? Not likely. We'll be seeing him again, in a months time, going against the now infamous, Shane Wellman Jr. At VFC 5.

I have a lot of confidence in Reyes as a fighter, this one hiccup, won't change that, and as for Hawkins. He'll move on up the ladder, in perhaps the most highly contested division within VFC. Let's see how his submissions can do, against the upper eschelons of the division.

Cornegy vs Martin:

This bout saw Cornegy, determined to beat the living snot out of Martin, and beat it, he did. On his feet, Martin was absolutely dominated, he faced endless waves of punches, kicks, combo's. Absolutely brutal. His only answer to this, and seemingly, the only way to stop this onslaught, was to take the fight to the ground, but alas, he could only do it twice, and neither time saw him capitalise on the opportunity. Including one takedown where Martin seemingly just took Cornegy down, to lie on him.

Perhaps he needed a rest, after the beating he had been taking on his feet. Who knows? What I do know is, Cornegy has some heavy hands, and I look forward to seeing him against a similiar level striker, in the future. Cornegy takes the bout by decision, and a decision that nobody could disagree with.

Dodson vs Rabrasandratana:

Dodson, another fighter from the Bitonti stable, signalled his intentions in coming into this fight, with a previous submission victory, in the QFC league. Making him the more experienced of the two. Rabrasandratana, however, like Reyes, was a GNP specialist.

Immediately, this poses a problem, for Rabrasandratana. If Dodson takes him down, he'll be on his back, and Wrestlers, just like turtles, hate being on their back. Unfortunately, after 5 failed takedown attempts from Rabrasandratana, that's exactly where he was destined to go, and within 1 minute, he was tapping out to a beautifully executed Armbar.

It seems the Bitonti camp were on a roll, in this first event. Dodsons manager, is perhaps looking to set himself up, as a submission specialist, in the 155lb division. Time will tell, how successful he is, at it.

Speed vs Eastman:

Eastman came into this bout, with a Kimmy challenge issued, telling him to 'Knock Speed out, within the first round, and gain a $3000 bonus, however, you'll lose $1000 per round, you fail to knock Speed out'. This, I hoped, would spur Eastman into breaking his 8 (now 9), fight losing streak.

It didn't, however. Speed was brutal, in his domination of Eastman. Ending the bout in only 46 seconds, with a brutally executed Head Kick. Earning him $2500, for the fastest KO of the night.

What did Eastman earn? A trip to the hospital, concussion, and a visit to a sports psychologist.

Miller vs Schultz:

The theme of V.F.C 1: Inception. Seemed to be "Brutal, fast, but entertaining", when it came to the majority of the bouts. This, was no exception.

Miller and Schultz are both excellent, and experienced standup artists. Miller, coming from the Bitonti camp, and Schultz, the aforementioned Lansky camp.

The bell rung, and Schultz came out swinging, and somehow, he managed to miss 62 of his 63 head punch attempts. (Note to Schultz: You're going to want to cut back on the damage slider, if you don't have the agility to back it up). Miller, however, was much more composed, taking advantage of those missed, heavy, Schultz bombs, and throwing his own well executed collection of fists, and kicks, whenever the opportunity presented itself.

Just after one minute gone, in round two. A beautiful collection of combo's, followed by an exquisitely executed head kick, saw Miller, take this fight, and the fight of the night award. Purely for the effort (although wasted), put forth by Schultz.

Youngblood vs Chavez:

This was always going to be an interesting one. Both fighters were roughly acquired by their managers on the same date, both have the same love for good boxing, and both, were equally as dangerous on their feet.

Youngblood came out all guns blazing, in round one. With an absolutely dominating performance over Chavez, that remained unanswered. Punches were thrown, shots were connected, and absolutely thrilling performance was seen. This, however, is where it gets interesting.

Something was said to Chavez during the end of round one, because he came out, a completely changed fighter. For the next two rounds, he absolutely dominated Youngblood, who had no answer to the brutal clinchwork, of Chavez. Being entirely tied up in a clinch, during round two, and most of round three.

The announcers awarded round two and three to Chavez. I myself, awarded round two and three to Chavez. The judges, however? Awarded the fight to Youngblood.

Own up, Youngblood, how much did you pay?

I can see a rematch occuring in the very near future, between these two.

Wellman JR vs Van Kirkland.

This was always going to be my favourite fight, of this event. Both of these guys had been smack talking each other pretty much since VFC's inception. Wellman confidently stating he'd sub Van Kirkland in the first. Kirkland, threatening to bash Wellmans skull in. Glorious, glorious smack talk.

The fight started, Kirkland came out swinging, with a couple of exceptionally meaty leg kicks, which dampened Wellmans attitude when it came to takedowns, and then... then he made a vital mistake. He went for the dreaded head kick (note for readers: never do head kicks, against an opponent looking to take you down), and he was countered, into a beautifully executed takedown.

Once on the floor, the fight was over for Kirkland. He had no ground game, and Wellman was brimming with submission based confidence. The match ended in the first minute, with an Armbar.

For the record, Kirkland claimed he slipped on the mat, in the smack talk thread. Perhaps we'll see, when / if, Van Kirkland can work his way up to fighting Wellman, again.

Neto vs Goldberg:

Another fighter from the Lansky, camp. Goldberg, perhaps the most promising of his fighters. Looked to have the advantage, in this bout. What nobody could see happening, though, was Goldberg deciding that taking down a more advanced BJJ artist, was a great idea.

So he did. and his reward? A submission, 3 minutes into the first round.

Impressive performance by Neto, with his ground game dominance showing.

Meeks Jr vs Styles

Holy moly, did Styles come out swinging, in this one. From the very first moment the bell rang, Styles just came out, and gave it his all. Meeks really had no answer for the constant barrage of fists, in his face and even that Granite Chin couldn't stop the inevitable, and brutal, knockout.

I think Styles is one to watch, for the future, but I doubt it's the last we'll hear of Meeks Jr. Who knows, a rematch may be in order, at some point.

Styles by KO.

Stewart vs Kirifidis.

Stewart, a focused GNP wrestler, had the disadvantage in this bout, going up against the superior grappling skills, in the forum of Kirifidis' blue belt. However, blue belt or not. Kirifidis was due to suffer some GNP pain tonight, and suffer he did. Wild hammerfists were launched, swinging lefts, some elbows, a few knee's, even a kitchen sink. With Kirifidis, to his credit, refusing to tap and actually putting Stewart in a compromised position for a sub, quite a few times.

Alas, it wasn't enough. Kirifidis couldn't sub Stewart, and Stewart couldn't KO Kirifidis. So this match went to the judges, who awarded it with a unanimous decision, to Stewart. He was certainly deserving of the win, but Kirifidis wasn't slacking, and did his best, against a nasty GNP beasty.

Well, that's it for our first event. Join us next week, for the undercard "Rookie Rage". Where we'll get to see the rising stars, in the VFC world, battle it out for glory, and a spot at the coveted VFC 5: Reyes vs Wellman.

V.F.C 4: Cowboys from Hell.

http://www.mmatycoon.com/images/posters/1315721491vfc4.jpg

Preview brought to you by Peel Steel. Poster by PR1ME. Org by... me.

Its Richie Ciapelli here reporting for MMA USofA. I’m outside Wild Bobs bar in the big apple, where I am here to check out the hottest new fight organisation on the planet – the rapidly emerging VFC. This is the fourth show by the VFC who are already attracting the brightest young fighters from around the globe to New York.

The pre-fight press conference has just finished, with most VFC fighters showing real class, but there sure were some fireworks, and we can expect more tonight.

VFC CEO Kimmi McRiddle has vowed to offer only well matched fights, and tonight’s card is stacked with stand and bang specialists in a host of pick-em fights.

Here’s a break down of what we can expect in tonight’s show.

Cornegy vs Architect

Two undefeated bangers meet at 170, with the rangy Architect stopping both his opponents before the 3rd round. Architect is huge for this division, and it will be interesting to see if Cornegy can use his Muay Thai kicks to chop down this giant. Both these guys are good boxers, but all will depend whether Cornegy can deal with a decided reach disadvantage.

Cornegy is up against it here, he could get knocked out if he stays on the outside, but he can’t go to the ground either because his ground game isn’t sharp enough.

Winner: Architect (by whichever way he chooses)

Karimi vs Wtorek

Another fight in the stacked 170lb VFC division sees 1-0 Karimi take on debutant Wtorek.

This is an intriguing match up between a Muay Thai specialist and a young all rounder.

Karimi is an absolute beast with his knees and elbows as his previous opponent Amebi who had capable stand up himself can testify. Karimi will look to slice open Wtorek, who has to avoid the clinch and box at range. If Wtorek can stay patient, box and move and look to avoid the knee on a takedown, he can finish this on the ground where there is only one winner.

Winner: Wtorek (submission – if he sticks to his game plan).

Dos Santos vs Nanda

Dos Santos fancies himself going all the way in VFC 155lb division and although he starts the favourite against Nanda, he can’t afford to be complacent as although Dos Santos holds a brown belt, Nanda is no slouch with his purple belt. In fact it’s only BJJ where you can tell these guys apart, and its here Dos Santos should prevail.

The question is Dos Santos, is he looking for a title shot too soon and not got himself into shape to fight someone he considers inferior?

Let’s hope Nanda has had a good camp, is in excellent condition and gives the BJJ purists a treat.

Winner: Dos Santos (decision)

Anderson vs Machio

We now move into the VFC Middleweight Division, for what could be a fight of the night, stand up slugfest between two guys who wouldn’t be out of place in K1. Neither have a ground game so its stand and bang! Anderson will look to utilise his Muay Thai using kicks to keep local boy Machio off balance and pull Machio into his clinch for some slice and dice. Machio must check the kicks and use his reach and boxing skills to test the chin of his smaller foe.

Winner: a pick-em fight, with the edge to Machio, as a week before the fight it was rumoured Anderson was burning the candle at both ends. Looking at Machio he’ll be getting a lot of early nights.

Mezger vs Shekawa

The big Aussie Mezger makes his debut in the VFC Light Heavyweight division and he will look to move to 2-0 by teaching talented boxer Shekawa that MMA is just that - mixed! Shekawa has to get in range to use his boxing skills, or I can see Mezger inside leg kicking the life out of Shekawa before taking him down for the submission.

I expect both guys to be in great condition, and this could be a war, the head says Mezger but don’t be surprised if Shekawa gets him out of there early!

Winner: going out on a limb Shekawa 1st round KO.

Bryson vs UooJ

Have you seen the size of Brooklyn native Bryson. The guy is a tower or as New Yorker Uooj said in the press conference earlier ‘a lanky streak of p*ss’. This caused ructions in crowd with Bryson bitch slapping Uooj’s cut man and security holding back Uooj. Once everyone had calmed down Uooj was asked how he was going to deal with such a size disadvantage. Uooj made reference to Bryons thin legs and callipers and it kicked off again, with the VFC deciding to boot both fighters and their entourages out the building. Experts question how strong Bryson will be at the weight, if he is strong his reach and his advantage in stand up could be crucial. Bryson has the better Muay Thai and his kicks could be a key weapon in keeping Uooj at range. Uooj must get inside and test Bryson’s chin, and then take him down where his wrestling might just get him the decision.

Winner: Bryson by cheese grater (cuts)

Callahad vs Martin

At 170lb we have an All American affair between the heavily favoured and distinctly mean looking SOB James Martin. Martin has a BJJ Brown belt but I have favour him to keep it standing against the stand out wrestling skills of Callahad.

Callahad must get it to the ground as soon as possible as Martin has good hands and a mean disposition! On the ground its a war, so if you appreciate mat skills then this could be one to watch.

Experts are backing Martin to soften up Callahad, and neutralise his ground game with BJJ to take a hard fought decision.

Winner: Martin – decision

Kazmins vs Guzman

The London based Latvian looks one dimensional with only wonderful Muay Thai skills to offer against Guzman, but when you hear Kazmins flew in from London on his managers private jet after receiving specialist elite one to one coaching in London you start to wonder whether this guy is going places. Guzman on the other hand is still in the Cozad gym.

Guzman has to get this to the ground fast or I fear he will bleed out and need a transfusion.

Guzman is the more well rounded, but Kazmins is so well backed you have to feel there is only one winner.

Winner: Kazmins (cuts)

Kopera vs Vincent

VFC fight fans have been looking forward to this heavyweight clash for weeks. These are two big guys. Vincent sat down first after signing autographs and chatting with fans, but the mood changed when Kopera stormed in looking to end matters there and then. VFC CEO Kimmi McRiddle was forced to intervene threatening to terminate Kopera’s contract and ensure every fight org on the planet doesn’t touch him.

The atmosphere remained electric with Kopera struggling to contain himself, while Vincent sat calmly answering questions.

It has been widely rumoured that Kopera is a sociopath that has to be sedated after training, and it was clear that Kopera’s camp struggle to control their charge.

Vincent showed real class, but he is upset that Kopera is looking to Sparks and Hendayko before their fight, but he has acknowledged that Kopera being able to spell respect is highly unlikely.

Vincent readily admitted he needs to box superbly and keep this fight standing against the bigger heavier Kopera, who although a decent boxer himself will want to take this fight to the ground and look to crush Vincent with hammer fists.

This fight will need a hell of a tough referee or there will be mayhem!

The winner: Vincent showed real class in the press conference, let’s hope he Sparks Kopera!

Sluttysam vs Golovchenko

Having seen these two lightweights in the press conference I have to go with Golovchenko here. Despite being VFC Rookie Gym buddies Golovchenko has had a tight camp on the lead up to this fight, whereas Sluttysam goes weeks without communication with his management team.

Golovckenko is a Muay Thai practioner, and it’s his kicking game that I see overcoming Slutty’s superior boxing. Golovchenko will probably shred Slutty with elbows, and break down his legs, and once immobilised take him down where his superior ground game should see Slutty tapping out.

Winner: Golovchenko (whichever way he chooses).

That’s it folks, I’m off for a beer, a steak, then I’m ring side for tonight’s show.

…. And having seen the chicks in the press conference the after party will be hot too!

This pun, is the greatest.

Also, VFC recruitment is mostly closed, right now. Though I will still take on, and help develop, 18 year olds, or any fighter ID greater than 150k.
