markyosullivan
Have to agree with you, also think Luke Barnatt could be a contender to win given his reach advantage.

Guest
The seem to have changed up the production quite a bit. It feels more like a documentary than a reality show now. The close-up interviews were a little weird. I could see the pores in their skin. Still, that was probably the most impressive premiere I've seen in a while. Chael and Bones will probably be excellent coaches. Chael said in an interview that there isn't a lot of back and forth drama between the two which will be a breath of fresh air. Both guys were pretty funny, especially Chael saying that Bones has to pick Bubba first. Looking forward to this season. I don't have a particular guy who I think will go all the way. The fights to get into the house tend to be misleading.
markyosullivan
Don't really like the way Josh Samman was trying to tell Jon Jones who to pick for each fight, apparently it was Samman's 4th time trying to get into TUF iirc? Guest
Yea that was a little strange, but at least Jones didn't go for it. I always scratch my head when someone picks the first fighter over the first fight too.

Guest
The UFC has always had the option to put good fighters on the show but they just didnt want to do it. Which i understand their reasoning. BUt this year they had to pull out all the stops. You can tell this crop over all is much more talented. All these big names now in the UFC didnt go through TUF. The UFC knew they were good but always opted not to put them in the show. Like Santos, Cain, Jones, Weidman, Gustafsson, and the list goes on. They knew these guys were special. You can tell by how they were handled and the match ups they got. Hell they had been hearing how big a beast Cain is from AKA for years. I think the UFC believes that guys who come from TUF have a limit to how big a star they can be. People seem to not look at you as much awe when they see you so much and behidn the scenes every week and your fights for free. Also the TUF fights are not shows with the glits and glamor of a UFC event. Also it is hard to predict how the match ups go on the show. So even a top level fighter can get a bad match ups so they dont want to leave a top prospect to chance by putting him on the show. But TUF was hanging in the balance and it appears the UFC delivered this season. Fingers crossed!

But TUF was hanging in the balance and it appears the UFC delivered this season. Fingers crossed! Honestly, TUF could still be in trouble. They are apparently splitting FX into two different channels, one for drama and one for everything else. Speed will become the sports channel. It's hard to say if TUF will even stay on FX. The glitz and glamor is more apparent this season though, they have seriously stepped up the production values. It looks amazing. I do agree that they didn't want a lot of guys going through TUF but I disagree about these guys having limits on how far they can go. Granted, the very first season probably had the most successful batch of fighters. While Forrest is a shadow of his former self, he was the champ. Kos had two title shots. Diego had a title shot, Kenny had three. A lot of those names will be remembered as long as the UFC is around.

Diego had a title shot, Kenny had three. A lot of those names will be remembered as long as the UFC is around. I meant there is a limit on their popularity. Sometimes its not good to see a fighter with his "make up". UFC PPVs make the fighters larger than life. Thats how they make stars. Its hard to come off TUF that way because all the behidn the scenes stuff. The drinking, arguing, not always looking their best, and fights in a small room that come off as Amatuer fights(they basically are). That is peoples first impression and i doubt anyone can come off that show with the grace of a GSP for example. You can become popular for other reasons like your sense of Humor like Forrest, or being weird like Diego, and looking like Zoolander like Florian lol. But notice who become the biggest star of TUF 1 wasnt a contestant. It was Chuck Liddell. He wasnt put in the same compromising positions as the fighters were. I think its better to not go on TUF if you are going to be champ one day as you keep a level of mystic about you.Something you dont have after having a camera on you for 6 weeks. The Santos and Cains of the world have that. They become champ and people know little about them and want to know more. They only see them in a good light and in moderation. Erik
This is going to be another stupid TUF series where the UFC keeps talking up the guys as being "able to make waves" until the show ends and they lose to some gatekeepers. Guest
If I was to just go by what I saw in the first episode I would say Uriah Hall, Clint Hester or Tor Troeng are my top 3 to win it.
Guest
This is going to be another stupid TUF series where the UFC keeps talking up the guys as being "able to make waves" until the show ends and they lose to some gatekeepers. The UFC is a promotion. Their job is to promote. Of course they will hype them up. But the difference here is everyone who has watched the fighters have been able to see first hand they are clearly better than any TUF save for the first couple. Now they could go on to lose to gate keepers. But the UFC cant get anyone beat they choose to. But these guys are clealry more talented. Basically the biggest difference is athletic ability. THis group is far more athletic.
markyosullivan
If I was to just go by what I saw in the first episode I would say Uriah Hall, Clint Hester or Tor Troeng are my top 3 to win it. Have to say Uriah Hall really impressed me in his fight, along with Clint Hester. UFC President Dana White has seen a fair share of exceptional talent while observing the contestants on The Ultimate Fighter. He has witnessed a number of athletes impress him with their dedication, skill level, and will to finish the fight. There happens to be one particular fighter from this upcoming season, however, that seems to have garnered a significant amount of attention from White and the other contestants for a much different reason. According to White via MMAFighting.com, there is one fighter living in that house that has struck an abnormal amount of fear in the other contestants because he has a reputation for sending his opponents to the hospital upon victory. "We have a guy on this season of The Ultimate Fighter, every fight he's in, someone goes to the hospital." The way White talks about this individual makes him sound truly dangerous, wielding a violent style we may not have seen before on The Ultimate Fighter. White went on to describe the fear this unnamed fighter strikes in the hearts of his fellow contestants. "The whole house is terrified of this guy. F-- terrified. Everybody. I picked this fight, and this guy is lined up with the guy I'm telling you about, and the guy has a nervous breakdown in the house over the weekend. Has a f-- nervous breakdown. Freaks out and has a nervous breakdown. This guy scared the living s--- out of everyone. It's awesome." Wonder who's the guy everyone is scared of. Heard rumours it's Clint Hester but I'm not 100% sure who it is.
Guest
im picking Sammon to win it. he seemed like he had good skills. but honestly the thing that tipped me off that he's probly pretty good is when his girlfriend was talking about how initially she was nervous when he would fight. but now she cheers as loud as anybody. that tells me that he's probly pretty dominant when he fights and most likely wins convincingly, or else she would still be nervous of him getting beat or getting hurt. i may be wrong but i just kinda picked up on that. AK47
weight class is 185 . and i think it was clint hester putting people in the hospital based on his pro boxing and his really fucking aggressive fighting style. When i saw him throw that body kick i was like he is my favorite to win
