Robnaldo
Heatseeker your latest posters are sick! thats a great site for fonts ,thank you chris its bookmarked At scotty you may be right , i try not to do it but damm i just slip back into it I dunno I disagree, I think a little bit of animation is good but I don't think it should be the main focus of the poster. Here's an older one with small animation: http://i.imgur.com/flc9e.gif Here's a bunch of recent ones: http://i.imgur.com/2oE9i.png http://i.imgur.com/7Mjg0.png http://i.imgur.com/KIlHi.png http://i.imgur.com/j5oc0.png My style is pretty consistent, but I do break out of it every once in while....the Malevolent posters for example. Thanks man. And I agree, a little animation can really take a poster over the top when done right. Really clean designs you have there. WarMachine
All the photoshop posters put my ms paint ones to shame, still I have lots of fun doing them and will continue to do so. I haven't had much time to do any more, but I've got the ideas and images just need to put them on the canvas.
Guest
All the photoshop posters put my ms paint ones to shame, still I have lots of fun doing them and will continue to do so. I haven't had much time to do any more, but I've got the ideas and images just need to put them on the canvas. I am not sure about photoshop i find it to overpowering to be honest. I only started doing this type of stuff after i started playing mmatycoon , i remember paying for my own company logo (supps then) and also for the product pictures. also paying for skins etc. I have photoshop somewhere i loaded it up looked at it and cried lol , so uninstalled it again , to be honest it was far to complex for me. so then i downloaded GIMP and paint.net , paint is easier to use but a bit more limmited than gimp , gimp with additional plugins is a realy powerfull easy to use package. so chris start with paint.net if you can use ms paint you will be able to use this , and its got an easy to use layers tool , once you are happy with paint , then download gimp they may look the same on the surface but under the bonnet gimp is far more powerfull. also trawl yourtube using gimp as search phrase , you will find lots of effects tutorial. haystax
holy mother of the falsegod, that is awesome. Thanks. I still see tons of issues with it, especially in the location/date text. Chris, we all start somewhere. I chose the hard route. You are doing things in mspaint that I could never do. I couldn't use paint to save my life honestly. Same with Gimp. I have been self-taught on Photoshop and have really wedged myself into a corner with it.

Guest
http://i175.photobucket.com/albums/w121/soulcrew_2007/demo.gif ok this example above is animated but it comes in at 51 kb so doesnt break any rules i am simply pushing it to the boundaries of what we can do for info this took about 3 mins to put together no fancy flash involved just paint.net and a gif animator what i am trying to say is anyone can do this , it just takes a leap of faith
garycoffey15
Any interest in doing a logo and belt for me?? and how much?
haystax
I can't speak for everyone .... but mostly, I haven't asked because I mostly don't have the interest in doing anything animated. My creativity doesn't flow in that way. But if I do have the want do it, the tools to do basic animation is built into CS3, so I won't rule it out. As long as somebody is pushing that envelope, it's good. The same way Roger pushes the retro/propaganda style and Pepsi does uber-clean non-fight orientated art. I kind of bounce all over the place. As long as we all keep pushing ourselves, then it's good for everyone. As long as you are pushing the animated envelope, then the tool and knowledge is there if and when we need it. verbalkint
I played around with making a GIF-poster for the Ascension anniversary event, but as much as i first loved the idea, i'm now really not sure anymore. I wanted to make a kind of fast-forward trough some of the Ascension posters i made which finally blends into a "calm" and minimalistic b/w event-poster (i have a template i kept for month now for something special lol, love the motive). On paper it sounds good, but i think the effect is too restless and just too much. What i really hate about my stuff that i am miles away from the clean look like Rob or Joe have (most of my motives aren't very big though in original size), especially with my fonts. Always a struggle. I also really should watch some tutorials on youtube, but i am lazy lol. Here is a great site Rob once gave me, tons of motives there: deviantART My favourite font is called "House Gothic 23", i use it for all the dates... but always a struggle, it is not really clean in all sizes somehow. Coalition - maybe the most used free font there is... and ofc a really great one, bet most of you guys have it already. I now start to see it everywhere lol, just yesterday at the Legacy MMA event. There is a US tv-show which has it in its logo, too. ______________ What should be on our to-do-list: we need a constant (maybe pinned) thread where all designers are mentioned. Everyone can update his post there and all are linked in the starting post... so that people have one contact point when they need something to be done and it is not all about word-of-mouth recommendation or new search threads in forum. Like: - Current activity: taking orders/not taking orders - Areas: Poster, logos, belts, banners - Examples - Costs (?)
Dee
Im a self taught graphics guy too. Dunno how to use any other software than photoshop heh.
