It gives the coach a skill at teaching each type of training, depending on his bjj/wrestling/mt/boxing/conditioning skills, then it uses that one skill rating for all improvements. I agree your way would be more comprehensive but also very complex and we have to train 10,000 fighters twice a day (a number that will grow to maybe 100,000) so that's a bit too complex. To answer the original question, it looks more at the BJJ rating of the coach. Maybe 80% BJJ and 20% wrestling. I can't remember off the top of my head but something like that.
