XxxtremeT13
So, I was just curious....if I had a wonderful boxer with useless MT and wonderful punches vs a useless boxer with wonderful MT and wonderful punches....would there be a huge difference in punching effectiveness between the 2 types of builds?
Ikkitakeda
Huge? No. Would there be a difference? YES. I would say about 20% or around there but that is just an estimate. IMO though you would want higher muay thai than you would boxing to start. Not sure if it has changed or not but found a couple of articles from around 3 years ago that striking defense is related to primaries as well. So your boxer with useless muay thai even if he has great striking defense is going to be vulnerable to kicks, knees, and elbows compared to the muay thai fighter who would have defense to those as well as punches. 1

Guest
I notice that MT raises boxing sparring worth, but not vice versa. What is the disadvantage to building a MT fighter, even if my primary attack is punches? It seems like it would make boxing a worthless skill, but I'm sure this isn't the case. It is the secondaries raising the sparring worth of boxing. The disadvantage is that punches are getting lesser bonus from MT.
