Captain "Can" Crunch

"Attention! About face! The cap'ns here boys to show how to crush cans like a professional. I didn't spend 8 years in the Navy to fight a grown man, I spent 8 years in the backroom of Walmart learning how to crush cans. Do you have what it takes? If ya do then keep on walking I don't wanna take on those stakes. I'm a beast fighting the least, the mean fighting the lean, when the most step out, I ghost and pout! Yall know how the saying goes! The cans roar "crunchitize me cap'n!"

Solitude

Welcome to Solitude
The Island, Micro Arena (400)
May 9th

Ladies and Gentlemen (mainly gentlemen) welcome the The Island, and welcome to Solitude, the only org worth a damn on this god forsaken rock. The fighters are training, for come May 9th Solitude will open its doors and give the Island savages a taste of MMA. Most fighters are making their MMA debuts so there is not a lot to go from, but you may be witnessing the debut of the greatest fighter to ever come off the Island, I wouldn’t miss it if I were you. Stay tuned for the preview of the 1st card.

"The Sheriff" Lucas Hood vs. Victor The Flash – 185lbs

The main event sees both men in their second fight of their careers. Hood is primarily a dirty boxer, preferring to do his damage in the ‘phone booth.’ He has great stopping power and will look to use it against The Flash. Victor is a great boxer, with killer combinations. He doesn’t possess any wrestling to speak of but his BJJ is legit and he can submit if his opponent’s decide to take him down.

I predict that Hood won’t give Victor any space to work in, he will clinch up and unleash hellfire until the ref pulls him off.

Prediction: Hood via TKO

Jimmy Jr "Jimbo " McDonald vs. "Father" Pierce Hart – 145lbs

Both making their professional debuts. McDonald hails from Canada and has excellent boxing technique and serviceable wrestling, he epitomises the sprawl and brawl type of fighting. Hart is primarily a BJJ practitioner, his wrestling is good as is his boxing but against McDonald he needs to get the fight to the floor to win.

I think that McDonald is made for this type of fight, his boxing will beat Hart and his wrestling should suffice to keep Hart off him.

Prediction: McDonald via KO

Paddy "Monster" McGuiness vs. "The" Jester Kiwi – 265lbs

McGuiness is more famous for his family than his fighting skills, but he looks to change that. Being a relative to the Sully’s can’t be easy for the lumbering Paddy, but he brings the fighting Irish spirit to the fight (as well as pretty decent boxing). Kiwi is a weird dude, speaking in a cryptic tone but he brings a good sprawl and brawl skillset to this fight.

Both men being good boxers it’s really a coin toss to decide the winner. Heads it is.

Prediction: McGuiness via TKO

Johnny Sitko vs. Willy Fistur – 185lbs

The larger Sitko is a Muay Thai specialist with functional defensive wrestling. Expect his kicks to be a fundamental part of his game plan. Fistur fights the Brazilian way, with great BJJ skills and his Muay Thai is nothing to laugh at.

I expect Sitko to win the striking battle but Fistur I believe will eventually find a way to get this to the floor, from there he will pounce.

Prediction: Fistur via submission

Johnny "Fucking" Chan vs. War Dog – 265lbs

Time for everyone to have some fun. Who doesn’t like watching heavyweights fight? Chan has good Muay Thai and his wrestling is great, I expect him to look for the clinch and use knees or elbows to cause damage. Dog is a wrestler, whether he opts to use it offensively or defensively remains to be seen.

I believe that Chan has the better striking tool set and he will use it to the fullest advantage against Dog.

Prediction: Chan via TKO

Arthur Schopenhauer vs. Richard "Dick" Winters – 185lbs

Arthur, whose last name is too long for me to type so will be referred to as Arthur, is a BJJ expert, holding a brown belt. His wrestling may not be elite, but it is good enough for him to drag fights to the floor. Winters is another sprawl and brawl fighter, with excellent boxing and defensive wrestling.

Will Winters’ wrestling be enough to fend off the takedowns of Arthur? I vote yes.

Prediction: Winters via TKO

Sephiroth Jenova vs. James "Buster" Douglas – 265lbs

More big men fighting, what’s not to like? Jenova is a former wrestler turned MMA fighter, he seems to have abandoned his offensive wrestling for his boxing, preferring to knock men’s head off. Douglas is a great Muay Thai professional with good enough defensive wrestling to keep him upright.

Expect Jenova to attempt to neutralise the kicks of Douglas by taking it into the clinch, where he can use his superior wrestling to control the fight.

Prediction: Jenova via TKO

Charlotte Hardwood vs. Jermaine King – 155lbs

The man (woman?) with a strange first name is a boxer/wrestler and he/she fights against King, who has a great afro going on. King is also a boxer/wrestler but he has the better wrestling skills.

I think King will be able to exploit Hardwood’s wrestling or it could turn into a boxing war, but I think King will prevail.

Prediction: King via (T)KO

Janghong "Cornish" Pasty vs. Dave "The Bomb" Squad – 205lbs

Pasty, mmmmmm, is a boxer with some wrestling, although it isn’t the greatest you’ve ever seen. He will fight Squad who is a BJJ expert with some pretty decent wrestling skills which will enable him to get the fight to the floor on most occasions.

I think as long as Squad avoids the big shots of Pasty, he will be able to secure a takedown and from there he will latch onto a limb or an exposed neck for the win.

Prediction: Squad via submission

Saverio Fabbri vs. Pepito "The Original" Sangria – 205lbs

Fabbri is an Italian wrestler with little striking skills so expect him to seek takedowns often and look to land ground and pound. He faces fellow European Sangria who hails from Spain, he is a very young fighter (only 20yo) but he has massive balls on him, he asked for this fight even though he is younger and lacks the wrestling to hold off Fabbri. His boxing is good as is his BJJ.

Sound the alarms, I’m calling an upset. Sangria has the better striking and I think Fabbri will find more than he bargains for on the ground against Sangria.

Prediction: Sangria via submission

That about wraps it up folks, remember to tune in to catch the fights as one of these 20 men may very well be the Island champion in 6 months time.

Arthur Schopenhauer

"Oh, I see I'm the underdog in my upcomming fight. Such doubt in my performance is clearly unsubstantiated, as is any doubt for that matter. But, oh well... Desipere est iuris gentium. I'll see what I can do to dispell such doubt, however painfull that may be... for my opponent of course."

OOC: Very good writeup and amazing poster. Point me towards the author, as he has my vote in of the year awards. Beautiful work.

Saverio Fabbri

"Quindi io non sono il favorito, che va bene, mi libra il mio avversario nella sabbia sulla spiaggia. Io sono fatto di cemento italiano, io sono indistruttibile"

"So I'm not the favorite, which is fine, I pound my opponent in the sand on the beach. I am made of concrete Italian, I am indestructible"

Johnny 'The Money' Hetfield

"Crime, life, bitches, money"

"Shiiiit, The Island? Maaan, I just wanted to have some fun here but seems i'ma be beating up some bitch ass punks.

One things fo' sho, I ain't gon' be in solidary confinement, ah hell no. I'll be poppin' joints inside the cage, and cherries outside it. I'ma have a ball, party every day and then fight in the weekends. I'm untouchable, ain't nobody gon' stop me. Especially not this drunk of a Captain that I'll be facing, I'll throw a barrel of rum at 'em, then take all the ho's for my quest for booty. If he think he'll stop me, he be thinkin' wrong, ya hear? Finish him in the first, then take the money, a couple of honeys, and call it a night at the break of dawn. Party and fightin', The Money lifestyle. "

Pista "The Yolk" Isvan

Hey, yo. What's up ? I finally woke up from the party I threw the day I landed on the island. My cardio looks pretty good for a drunk f**K like me. But don't take me too serious. I will bend like Yuri and strike like Tyson, so worry or not I know I will give you some problems. Going to search for the chicas now so I can train my cardio and strenght with them :guitar:
