jjsquirrel
I see he got a mentor already, looks like this guy will do just fine When you start up, don't overspend on sponsorships early on. And get started before the end of the month. You can only order new stock once per month. And you are likely to sell out so getting new stock will be important.

TJMitchell
Have good designs that stand out from the rest of the pack. Most people will just buy whatever if its a good price. Give them a reason to buy yours. Have a good base of designs ready to go as soon as you open. Try and match up T-shirt/Shorts combos. A lot of the time you'll get double the sales that way. You only get 3500 a month so spread out your orders over the month. You don't want to sell out first week and then have nothing for 3 weeks. If you get a 500 week you'll get an extra 50 items but can only use that on existing stock. A limited edition shirt can bring eyes to your store every now and then. Make a shirt that you only sell say 100 of and that's it. Can keep people watching your store/forum page for the next one. Run random sales every now and then to boost interest as well. If you find you have too many designs find out what sells best and stock that. Trim the fat. Don't be afraid to send out low sponsorship offers to bigger fighters. A lot of the time these managers have too much money anyway and will be happy to accept to fill the slot on their fighter page. Get yourself a merch deal with an org. Even a small one brings in a little extra cash.

Cheers for that bit of info... My tip is don't do sponsorships, they are a waste of money for you.

Mine was always to reach #1 in which case they were a necessity at the time.

jjsquirrel
Sponsorships also has a secondary function as a kind of direct marketing to the managers who receive your offers so they will help spread the word when you start up a new company. It happened more than once I received a sponsorship offer and thought they had some nice stuff so started buying from that shop from then on.
barney
You MUST have good templates. If you cant (or dont want to) get a pirate pro template, consider buying one (you already invested money in this being VIP, anyway).Been there, done that. I cant stress HOW important is this. You study how they do things and get better knowledge of how to use layers for creating your OWN templates later on. Also, good quality. Watch tutorials for good effects, specially if you want to start skin or avatar stuff. Not being color blind (like me) helps a lot. I had TONS of trouble matching skin color.Feel free to PM me anytime for anything you need. Would be a pleasure to help.
