    • HFA 1 REVIEW   Jax Jacobsen Def. Aziz Noor via Submission (Kimura) RD 1 3:57 - Heavyweight Bout For the MAIN EVENT "The Last Jester" Jax Jacobsen took on "The Sudanese Giant" Aziz Noor. The two traded kicks early before Jacobsen took the fight to the ground. Both men being White Belts, and Jax being the superior wrestler, Jax managed to make it work from guard. Landing ground and pound to eventually rock The Sudanese Giant and lock in a Kimura from there to end the main event in round 1. Noor will return to the cage to face debuting Billy "The Kid" Johnson.. Jax will return to face also debuting Salvador "Preciso" Sanchez ! With HFA 3 hosting both. Hats off to both men and best of luck to them in the upcoming bouts. Best Moment: Jacobsen in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Noor tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Jacobsen!   Adan Hunt Def. Timmy Cosmo via TKO (Strikes) RD 1 0:51 - Super Heavyweight Bout The Co-Main Event was one sided with a David V Goliath matchup, Hunt being 205 cm and Cosmo 150 cm. Cosmo wasn't given the chance to get this one to the ground. Adan Hunt started the fight cutting Cosmo after the first punch, mixing up his strikes, and then kicking Cosmo in the dick. After the break, it was not long before Hunt gave Cosmo a hook upstairs to the chin and put his opponent away. We will get to see Hunt return very soon at HFA 2 against Gwynn "The Sprinkler" Kramer Best Moment: Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hunt lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Cosmo has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Cosmo and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.   Elijah Highlander Def. Reece Campos via Submission (Armbar) RD 1 0:28 - Lightweight Bout [SUB OF THE NIGHT AWARD] In a debut fight for Elijah Highlander, it was unknown what to expect out of the 22 year old. He did not disappoint after landing a jab to start, being taken down, and then showcasing his crafty BJJ skills after switching a Triangle attempt into an Armbar finish. A stunning finish, Highlander celebrated on the cage with the crowd. Reece Campos will hope to make a quick turnaround, fighting Leonel Sherman at HFA 2.  Best Moment: Highlander looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Campos is defending well. Highlander quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Campos has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Highlander celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.     Koa Yagan Def. Sockeye Salmon via TKO (Strikes) RD 1 0:58 - Middleweight Bout In a debut fight for 18 year old Koa Yagan, he came into this fight with confidence. Both men started off strong, demonstrating the immense shared power held between them, but it was Yagan to pierce through the defenses of Salmon in a slugfest that lasted but just a minute. A strong impression made from "The Crow". Koa Yagan thanked the fans post fight for their support. Best Moment: Yagan circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Salmon to the canvas! Salmon doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Yagan keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!     Leonel Sherman Def. Danel Quintana via TKO (Strikes) RD 1 4:56 - Lightweight Bout Leo Sherman came into this bout after an impressive 3-1 go in the recently held QFC Tournament. And Danel Quintana coming off of a 2nd round TKO victory in a QFC bout himself. Sherman was able to assert himself with a quick and athletic takedown into half guard, and did not allow Quintana to do much of anything as Sherman controlled the fight from start to finish. He moves on to 4-1 and will be returning to the HFA cage swiftly to see Reece Campos up next at HFA 2. The defeated Danel Quintana had this to say: 'Gloves were loaded, he grabbed the fence, & the ref is drunk. How could I have won, if they don't want me to win?'. Best Moment: Sherman with good strikes from the mount here! Quintana is rocked! Sherman scoring with strikes but Quintana is staying in there. Quintana is still in real trouble! Can Sherman finish him? Sherman drops a big elbow. That's hurt Quintana! More shots from Sherman and the ref steps in! The fight is over!     Toe Licker Def. Peter Plier via Unanimous Decision (27:30) - Lightweight Bout [FIGHT OF THE NIGHT AWARD] These two fighters came in hungry for a win and put on an entertaining and wild fight. Licker notably threw an astonishing 39 Combos, landing 7 of them. Plier was fairly accurate on the feet, but did not do enough to put Licker away. Toe Licker was able to earn a decision victory when it was all said and done with plenty of aweing moments for the fans. Best Moment: Licker stalks Plier and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Plier's face. Plier staggers backwards, shaken. And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.     Leonardo Gilbert Def. Eric Thompson via Submission (RNC) RD 1 3:30 - Lightweight Bout A debut fight for both men, this was the start of their MMA journey in Honu Fight Arts. Unfortunately for Thompson, Gilbert was able to get this one to the ground after around 40-50 seconds into the fight. Thompson, in a feat of strength and knowing he needed to get this one back to the feet, attempted to throw Gilbert off of him, which allowed Gilbert to secure control of his back instead. From there, it was a slow death after the high risk maneuver from Thompson. Gilbert inevitably got both hooks in and got the choke for the victory. Congrats to him and his team ! Best Moment: Gilbert scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Thompson bucks up and tries to throw Gilbert off but instead Gilbert has got his back!     Bingo Fat Def. Juan Todd via TKO (Punches) RD 1 0:20 - Featherweight Bout [KO OF THE NIGHT AWARD] In a blink and you'll miss it fight, Bingo Fat went at Juan Todd and got the finish quickly after catching him with a vicious hook, eventually forcing the ref to step in. It was the quickest finish of the night and one of many exciting ones, giving Bingo Fat a deserved Performance Bonus. Best Moment: Fat pounces like a tiger and cracks Todd with a vicious hook! Todd is down but not out! Fat follows up with more strikes forcing the ref to jump in and stop it!     Charles Drake Def. Marius Dabija via Submission (Strikes) RD 1 2:14 - Featherweight Bout This fight was one sided as the very aggressive Drake wasted no time to throw bombs in attempt to knock Dabija's head off. Dabija tried his best to matrix his way thru the first 2 minutes, but ultimately succumbed to the punches. The grappler seemed to be looking to just dodge and weave over securing the takedown as one was not attempted or able to be. Marius will definitely get another chance to prove himself. And for Drake, it was a great night. Best Moment: Drake cracks Dabija with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at each other and high-five before getting back down to business. & Drake lands a hook that stumbles Dabija back into the cage. Drake follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Dabija to the canvas! Drake pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Dabija has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!   Matt Rose Def. Edward Rice via Unanimous Decision (28:29) - Welterweight Bout Opening up for the annual HFA event, we had two debutants looking to prove their worth in the Octagon. Rose, known mostly for his moonwalking talent by friends and family, was looking to get this fight to the ground and succeeded for 3 rounds to win pretty comfortably. As for Rice, this was a bout to forget, the 18 year old is known for having a big heart for the sport though, and will look to make a triumphant return at HFA 4 versus Juan Bertino. Best Moment: Rice throws a nice head kick!
