We've been informed that Krooks has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.

Krooks scores with a hook to the body. Bonkerz takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Krooks closes the distance and pushes Bonkerz back into the cage.

I was talking to Krooks's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Sydal tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
It looked like Krooks was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Krooks throws out a powerful jab.
A big right from Krooks misses.
Sydal misses with a series of wild punches.
Sydal dives in and grabs Krooks's left leg, looking for a takedown. Krooks pushes down on Sydal's head and hops out.
Sydal thows a leg kick but Krooks checks it
enabling Krooks to counter with a crisp jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Krooks cracks Sydal with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Krooks has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Sydal to stand back up!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Krooks lands a brutal uppercut that launches Sydal off his feet! Sydal tumbles to the floor, barely conscious - the referee jumps in to save him from a beating! Wow, what an ending!

Krooks is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Patryk.
Patryk went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

Krooks wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

Let's hope that Krooks has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Krooks is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
