#R1# Sonnen avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Jones throws a head kick that misses. Sonnen was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Sonnen has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Milkys Cave in the buildup to the fight. Jones dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Sonnen. That did some damage!#TD# Sonnen drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Sonnen scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Sonnen connects with a couple of short punches. Sonnen is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Jones wants to get back to his feet but Sonnen is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Sonnen is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound. Sonnen sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Jones's guard. Jones on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. #CUT#It looks like James Jones has been cut. Sonnen scoring with strikes to the body and head. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Sonnen working over Jones with some ground and pound. Jones looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Sonnen is taking a breather. Jones says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Sonnen is nestled in close to Jones, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.#T1# Sonnen lands with a punch from half guard. Jones has hold of Sonnen's hands but Sonnen slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Sonnen landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Sonnen scores with a big shot! Jones's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Jones! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
