#R1# Bateman dives in for a single leg takedown but Mullins sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Mullins is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bateman pulls him back up using the underhooks. #TD2# Mullins jumps into guard, dragging Bateman to the mat.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Mullins holds on and takes a little breather. #SUB2# Mullins throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Mullins looking to control but Bateman passes into half guard.
Bateman performing his best blanket impression for a moment. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bateman is thwarting Mullins's attempts to control the position. Bateman is taking a breather. Mullins says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.#T1# Mullins is looking to control Bateman's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mullins avoid being mounted? The referee calls for the fighters to work.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bateman lands with a punch from half guard. Bateman seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Bateman's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.#T2# A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Mullins is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Bateman scores with a couple of nice shots. Bateman is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Bateman lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Mullins is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Bateman passes to side control. Mullins takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Bateman working the head and body with strikes. #T3# Bateman controls the position. Bateman creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots. Bateman wants to control but Mullins is keeping him busy. Bateman cracks Mullins with a big right hand but Mullins just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
We've been hearing that Bateman has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Bateman working the ground and pound. Mullins can't do much from the bottom here. Bateman in side control lands a decent elbow. Mullins takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Mullins on the wrong end of some ground and pound. Bateman content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though. Bateman has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Bateman landing a few strikes. Mullins really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Bateman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.#T4# Bateman has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Mullins! Bateman postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Mullins looks a forlorn figure.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Bateman is landing with some decent strikes but Mullins is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.#ROC#Mullins is rocked! Bateman lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Mullins is still in real trouble! Can Bateman finish him? Bateman loads up on a couple of big shots to the head that have Mullins scrambling to escape. He can't get free though and several more unanswered shots from Bateman land to the head. The referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Bateman stands and salutes the crowd.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Patrick Bateman! Patrick Bateman really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Strikers Supplements logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty. |

Jones stopping the sweep attempt from Mullins. Mullins is trying to control the position from the bottom.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Mullins is on top in guard.
#REVR# Mullins trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mullins wants to stand but Jones has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Mullins throws a big right hand that misses. #T1# Jones has Mullins pulled in close to control his posture. Mullins trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Jones is adopting a defensive guard. Mullins trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.#T2# Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.#REF3# The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Jones scores with the left hand. Mullins knows he should have avoided that one. Jones scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Jones cracks Mullins with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Jones lands a head shot.#ROC2#Mullins is rocked! A big right followed by a crushing left from Jones knocks Mullins out cold! Ouch - that one's going to be featured in highlight reels for years to come!
