The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Armas tries to clinch there but Tamura circles away.
Tamura let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.
Tamura with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Ana De Armas seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De Armas throws a leg kick but Tamura checks it.
Tamura dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
De Armas has his takedown stuffed
and Tamura counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Tamura keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Tamura connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between De Armas's hands.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
De Armas walks right into a perfectly timed right hook and goes down hard! He's out cold! The ref cradles De Armas limp body while Tamura jumps on to the cage and waves to the roaring crowd. Wow that was just a brutal knockout!

Johnson moves in looking to clinch but Tamura pushes him off.
Johnson fails with an attempt to clinch.
Johnson tries to clinch there but Tamura circles away.

Tamura wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Johnson has him pressed against the cage.

Johnson manages to pull guard.
Tamura stays in close to Johnson's body and controls the position.
Johnson looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Tamura looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Johnson jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tamura walks away with a smile on his face. Johnson gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Ashitaka Tamura has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brooke Johnson.

Johnson keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Tamura's efforts to push away.
Tamura wants to break free but Johnson has control.
A frustrated look appears on Tamura's face as he tries to break the clinch. #T2#
Johnson tries to pull guard but Tamura holds him up against the cage and eventually Johnson drops back down to his feet.
Tamura wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Johnson has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Tamura uses from the top position.

Johnson is looking to cinch up a triangle. Tamura throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Johnson's body to avoid the submission. Johnson has instead reached around Tamura's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Johnson arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.

Ferreira Azevedo had a terrible time trying to make weight. After initially coming in at 160.1, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. Stepping on the scales for a second time, he still failed to make the required weight and after much deliberation, his fight with Ashitaka Tamura was cancelled. |
