The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Berra connects with the punch. Smith shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Berra defends it nicely. Berra misses the jab. Smith is looking to stand up but Berra isn't so interested in that idea. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Berra controlling from the top position. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Smith has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Berra off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. Berra waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Smith. Smith has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Berra finds it's way round the side to connect with Smith's head. Smith dives in and grabs Berra's left leg, looking for a takedown. Berra pushes down on Smith's head and hops out. Yogi Berra seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. A combination from Smith does no damage. Smith gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Berra to score an easy takedown into full guard. Berra trying to control the position from guard on top but Smith is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Berra works over Smith with some ground and pound from guard. That's two minutes gone in the round. Smith wants to stand but Berra is controlling the position. Smith is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Berra wants to control from the top but Smith keeps moving. Berra has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Smith wants to get back to his feet but Berra is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Berra not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Smith with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Berra to score with a decent uppercut. This has been an exciting period of action! Berra lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent. Berra lands the left hand. Berra lands with a straight right. Smith didn't see that one coming. Smith is rocked! That's three minutes gone in the round. Berra knocks out Smith with a massive right hand! The ref tackles Berra before he can follow up with any more strikes and that's it everyone.
