The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reyes scores with a nice strike. Phillips is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot. Reyes feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Phillipss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Reyes uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Phillips. Phillips uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Reyes. Phillips throws a big shot that misses. Sloppy strikes from Phillips. Those never looked like landing. Phillips scores with a jab. Phillips scores with a push kick. Phillips ducks under a wild hook from Reyes. Phillips looks like he wants to counter punch here. Phillips fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Reyes checks it well. Phillips moves out of range of the strikes. Phillips looking to throw a kick but he's pulled out of it. Reyes throws the left hand but Phillips avoids the punch easily. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A combination from Phillips does no damage. Phillips takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Phillips shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down. Phillips throws a body kick that misses and Phillips takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Phillips will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
That's one minute gone in the round. Phillips tests Reyes's chin there with a solid looking shot. Phillips connects with a leg kick. Reyes looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Phillips takes one on the chin but keeps coming.

Phillips misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Phillips takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Reyes lands a big uppercut and Phillips crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Phillips looks OK. Reyes waves Phillips back to his feet!
Phillips is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Phillips on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot. Phillips is still on wobbly legs! Can Reyes finish him? Phillips ducks into an uppercut from Reyes and that's knocked him out cold! This one is all over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Phillips tries a head kick but it misses.
Phillips looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight! Branca fails with a takedown attempt. Phillips tries to clinch up but Branca circles away and keeps his distance. Branca looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Branca seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Branca lands a couple of digs. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Phillips wants to sweep but no luck. Branca lands a couple of decent looking shots. Branca is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Branca works over Phillips with some ground and pound from guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Branca scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Branca controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Branca's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Branca postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Branca distracts Phillips with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Phillips is rocked! Branca chips away with some ground and pound. Phillips is still in real trouble! Can Branca finish him? Branca not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Branca looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio. Branca loads up on a big left hand. Phillips felt that one! He's just covering up now, not defending himself intelligently - Branca looks towards the ref and unloads with 3 more big shots and the ref has no choice but to stop the fight! Phillips can't hide his disappointment, as Branca celebrates the victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Phillips scores with a one two! Kennedy had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Phillips misses with a kick to the body.
A head kick by Phillips misses and Kennedy counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Phillips throws a left and a right that both miss
and Kennedy counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Kennedy tries to close the distance and clinch but Phillips swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Kennedy is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Phillips is defended easily by Kennedy . Phillips fails with an attempt to clinch.
Phillips gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Kennedy counters with a three punch combo that has Phillips backing up. Phillips nods at Kennedy to acknowledge the strikes. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Phillips misses with a right hand and Kennedy counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Phillips is lucky that one didn't land flush. Rory Phillips seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Phillips falls off balance throwing a combination
enabling Kennedy to counter with a crisp jab. Phillips lands a jab to the nose. Phillips is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kennedy sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. And Kennedy responds with a good body kick, but Phillips manages to step out the way in time. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Rory Phillips. That's going to take a lot out of him. Phillips closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Kennedy did well to prevent Phillips getting side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

This has been an exciting period of action! Kennedy throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Phillips tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Kennedy is in Phillips's guard. Phillips manages to escape and get back to his feet.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Phillips is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kennedy knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Phillips stands up and beckons Kennedy to his feet. Phillips gets the takedown into side control. Phillips stands up. Justin Kennedy has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Kennedy misses with a combination
and Phillips counters with a lovely straight right hand!
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Rory Phillips. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Phillips, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
