Rivers jumps guard but Pakhomov stands there with Rivers around his waist. Rivers gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Eventually the ref decides to do his job and jumps in - Pakhomov screams abuse at the incompetent official before going over to celebrate with his corner. Brutal stuff!

It looked like Pakhomov was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Rivers.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

It looks like Hardis Stan has been cut.
Stan shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Stan has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Pakhomov finds it's way round the side to connect with Stan's head.
Stan looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Pakhomov seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Stan has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

We've been hearing good reports from Pakhomov's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
