Mathews gets caught flat footed, as Hardy shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Hardy throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Mathews works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Hardy wants to stand but Mathews has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.#SUB#
Hardy avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Hardy is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
It looks like Hardy might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Mathews has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Hardy is working away from the top position though.

Hardy is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Mathews is just riding it out for now. Hardy eventually gives up the hold.
Hardy looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Mathews with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. #ROC2#
