A short right from Fighter on the inside.
Alves blocks an uppercut.
Fighter lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Alves backwards.
Alves has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Fighter is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Fighter swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Alves is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Fighter to keep the fight standing.
Fighter working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Alves blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Alves tries to pull guard but Fighter won't allow it.
I was talking to Fighter's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Nameless Fighter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Michael Alves.

Fighter connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Alves to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Fighter!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Mendoza enables Alves to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Mendoza manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Alves controls from within his opponent's guard.
Alves lands a couple of elbows.
Alves wants to pass the guard but Mendoza is keeping the position.
Mendoza wants to stand up but Alves is controlling him.
Alves slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Mendoza tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Alves wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Alves has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Mendoza is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Alves yanks on the arm and Mendoza is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Alves.
