We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Pettis feints a kick and comes over the top with a right hand, followed by a left hook - both land, sending Silva crashing to the mat! This one is all over!

Pettis uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Silva.

Pettis tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Silva misses with an uppercut.
Silva swings away with a leg kick that misses.
Silva tries to bum rush Pettis with a series of wild strikes but Pettis uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Silva throws a jab when Pettis was well out of range.
Pettis looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Pettis scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Silva pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Pettis is looking for the big counter here.

Pettis misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Pettis throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on Silva's jaw, knocking him onto his back! Pettis dives in looking to finish as Silva flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block Pettis's strikes! Pettis is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! Silva's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but Silva was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
