Hopkins throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rothstein on the side of the head.
Hopkins fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Rothstein has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Rothstein feints a jab promting Hopkins to slip. Rothstein then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Hopkins slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Rothstein lands with a big left! Hopkins is wobbled badly! Rothstein comes in with a flurry of punches and drops Hopkins to the floor. The ref jumps in to save him from unneccessary punishment.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:14 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Sam Rothstein!
During a confident post fight interview, Sam Rothstein thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.

Hopkins takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Brandao, right into the meat.
Hopkins's jab looks to have found its range, popping Brandao under the eye.

Brandao throws a solid leg kick but Hopkins takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Brandao.

It looked like Brandao was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Hopkins.
Brandao has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Brandao lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Hopkins has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Hopkins and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with eachother but Hopkins might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Brandao has got the better of the exchanges.

After the fight, Alex Hopkins was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
In defeat, Diego Brandao stepped up to the mic, saying 'Hell I took this fight on 2 days notice, and I was at less than 80% energy when I came in. I did my best given the situation. He wouldn't stand a chance in a rematch.'.
