Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bornas Lopette (ranked 2917 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kurt Red (ranked 22885 p4p, 0 weight class). Lopette comes to the cage accompanied by Root Of All Evil. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Columbo Gatti and Reed Andrews.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Red looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Lopette throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Lopette feints and then cracks Red's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Red down.
Lopette throws a leg kick
and Red counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Red.
Red trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Red working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
Red throws a strike but Lopette rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Red has a closed guard, preventing Lopette from standing up.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Red has control of Lopette's left arm, preventing Lopette from doing any damage.
Red is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Red is looking to sweep but instead, Lopette has passed into half guard.

Red tries to hold on but Lopette pushes him away.

Red wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Red wants to control his opponent's hands but Lopette gets his hands free.
Red is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Lopette will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

I really don't envy Red right now.
Lopette is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Lopette really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Red.
Lopette keeps control of the position as Red tries to break free.
We've been informed that Red has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

Red is trying to get back to his feet but Lopette has full control of the position and if anything, Red has just worked his way into a worse spot.
Lopette controlling well, preventing Red from escaping the position.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Red throws a right and a left that Lopette avoids nicely.
Lopette throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Red.
It looks like Kurt Red has been cut.
Lopette lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Lopette throws a low kick, looking for Red's leg but Red calmly moves out of range.
Red changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lopette tries to avoid it but Red manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lopette to the ground. Lopette escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Red takes one to the side of the head.
Lopette buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Red takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Red shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Lopette appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
A shot to the liver by Lopette. Beautiful body shot.
The crowd cheers as Lopette lands an impressive looking overhand right. Red doesn't seem phased though.

Bornas Lopette has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kurt Red.

Red will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Lopette lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Red at a distance.
Kurt Red is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Red dives in and scores a takedown into Lopette's guard.
Lopette keeping moving, preventing Red from controlling successfully.
Red is breathing heavily.

Red looking to sit in guard and control but Lopette gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Red wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Lopette manages to pass to side control.

Lopette has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Red wants to control but Lopette is keeping busy.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Lopette prevents Red from improving his position.
Lopette content to control rather than advance.
Red tries to get to full guard but Lopette has control of the leg.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Bornas Lopette seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lopette lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

and Lopette connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Lopette lands a nice hook to Red's body. Red takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Lopette is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Red can do to turn this around?

As Red backs away, Lopette returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Red fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Red shoots for a double leg takedown but Lopette sprawls well. He's pushed Red's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Bornas Lopette is winning the standup battle so far.
Lopette throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Lopette fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Red.
Lopette is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Red shoots in for a double leg but Lopette sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lopette swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Red shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Lopette as he avoids it easily.
Lopette takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Lopette comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Lopette lands a nice shot that snaps Red's head back.
Lopette scoring well with a low kick there.
Red throws the left hand but Lopette avoids the punch easily.
Red throws a looping overhand right but Lopette ducks down to avoid it.
Lopette throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

Lopette throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Red's head.
Red's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.
Red fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lopette avoids it really well and circles away.

Lopette thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Red if he has to take too many more of those.
Lopette scores with a jab. Red acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Red throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lopette's waist but Lopette gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Red off to one side.
