PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tom Dirk (ranked 1812 p4p, 180 weight class) and Chandler Tyson (ranked 3615 p4p, 315 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tom Dirk!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chandler Tyson !
The judges for this bout are Dillan Fox, Yves DeLean and Steve Smith.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tyson has a takedown stuffed.

and Tyson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
A head kick misses from Dirk.
Tyson changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt.

Tyson gets caught napping as Dirk dives in and scores a takedown. Tyson manages to retain guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dirk is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dirk will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Tyson throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Dirk stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Tyson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Dirk avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Tyson manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dirk manages to get himself to full guard.

Tyson won't allow Dirk to get back to his feet.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Dirk bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Tyson 's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dirk slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Tyson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Dirk can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Dirk avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Tyson is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Dirk is aware though and is defending well.

Dirk looking to improve position, pressing down on Tyson 's thigh with his hand. Tyson seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Dirk paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Dirk's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Tyson picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
