Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jon Lake!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Lou da Vinci and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lake misses with a wild combination.
Lake is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Lake avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Lake throws a nice looking combination but Johnson bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Johnson scores with a takedown into Lake's guard.

Johnson decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Lake, up you get!
Johnson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Despite the aggression on Lake's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
Johnson is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Lake.


It looks like Cameron Johnson has been cut.
Johnson throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Johnson was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Johnson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Johnson is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Lake has escaped the position, nice work there.

Johnson postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Johnson stands up and beckons Lake to his feet.

Johnson has Lake up against the cage in a clinch.

Johnson breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lake paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Johnson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Lake throws a right and a left that both miss.
Johnson fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Lake is looking for the big counter here.

Johnson clinches.
Lake wants to break free but Johnson has control.
Lake tries to circle away but Johnson has him pinned against the cage.
Lake goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Johnson lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Johnson slows the pace down in half guard.

Johnson decides to return to a standing position.
Johnson doesn't manage to clinch there - Lake circles away.
Lake blocks the body kick.
Johnson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Lake swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson.
Johnson tries to bum rush Lake with a series of wild strikes but Lake uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Johnson throws a right and a left that both miss.

Johnson swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Johnson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Johnson throws a series of punches but Lake avoids them all with ease.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Johnson connects with a nice short shot to Lake's temple.
Cameron Johnson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Johnson throws a right and a left that Lake avoids nicely.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Lake gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Johnson.

Johnson tries to pull guard but Lake holds him up against the cage and eventually Johnson drops back down to his feet.

Johnson doesn't manage to clinch there - Lake circles away.
Johnson scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Johnson fails in his attempt to clinch.

Johnson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lake looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Johnson gets to mount! Lake was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Johnson throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lake was covering up waiting for the punch and Johnson finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Johnson is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Lake breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Johnson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Lake can do to turn this around?

Johnson tries to keep at a distance but Lake has taken the fight into the clinch.

Lake is trying to drag Johnson to the mat but Johnson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Johnson scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Johnson tries to close the distance and clinch but Lake swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lake is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Johnson with a body shot.
Johnson has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Jon Lake has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Cameron Johnson is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Johnson will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
