Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Link Gaetz (ranked 60 p4p, 8 weight class) and Rocket Bob Frankels (ranked 197 p4p, 28 weight class). Frankels is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Dawn....Summer Solstice... . On his way into the cage it seems that Link Gaetz has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Link Gaetz seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Link Gaetz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 42 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rocket Bob Frankels!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gaetz lands a jab to Frankels's midsection.
Gaetz takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Frankels scores with a jab.
Frankels has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Frankels takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.


It looks like Rocket Bob Frankels has been cut.
Frankels is looking to score with low kicks.
Gaetz misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Frankels.
Gaetz tried to score with a low kick but Frankels checks it.
Frankels only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Frankels throws a looping overhand right but Gaetz ducks down to avoid it.
Gaetz is looking to counter punch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Gaetz moves out of range as Frankels strikes.

Rocket Bob Frankels seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Frankels throws a hook to the side of Gaetz's head but Gaetz sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Gaetz avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Frankels throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Gaetz counters with a right hand to the body.

Frankels on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Frankels takes a swing at Gaetz's ribcage but misses.
A decent looking cross lands there for Gaetz.


That has opened up Rocket Bob Frankels's cut even more.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Frankels misses with a straight left.
A jab from Frankels does it's job there.
A low kick from Gaetz misses
and Frankels counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Gaetz throws a body shot but no joy.

Gaetz throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Frankels counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Gaetz getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Frankels throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Gaetz lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Frankels attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Gaetz appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.

Gaetz changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Gaetz looks to land a left hand but Frankels moved out of range nicely.

Frankels takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Frankels.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Frankels throws a hook but Gaetz blocks it.
Gaetz appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Frankels throws a shot from downtown. Gaetz moves away and avoids it.
Gaetz quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Gaetz rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Frankels counters with a solid body kick.
Rocket Bob Frankels seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Frankels throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
An attempted straight right counter from Gaetz misses the target.
Frankels has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Frankels comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Frankels lands a slapping body shot.
Frankels delivers a nice body kick.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Gaetz looks to land a right hand but Frankels moved out of range.
Frankels dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Frankels tries to clinch but Gaetz moves out of range.
Nice body kick there by Frankels.
Frankels throws a right hand that Gaetz ducks under and follows up with a left that Gaetz also avoids with ease.
Gaetz takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Gaetz throws a leg kick but Frankels moved away.
This entire fight has taken place on the feet so far and you wonder whether Gaetz might be better served trying to take this one to the ground because he's losing the standup battle so far.
Frankels throws a front kick that sends Gaetz stumbling back into the cage.
Gaetz uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Frankels has time to react.
Gaetz changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Frankels feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Gaetz sprawling to the canvas! Gaetz rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Frankels finish him?!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Frankels throws a quick inside leg kick.
Gaetz blocks a leg kick.
Frankels lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Frankels lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Frankels scores with a jab. Gaetz acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
A nice inside leg kick there by Frankels. That's going to slow Gaetz down.
Gaetz drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Frankels in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Gaetz checks a leg kick.

Frankels drops Gaetz with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Gaetz looks back up at him and smiles so Frankels waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.


Gaetz is rocked!
Frankels moves in close and cracks Gaetz with a massive right hand! Gaetz, frozen momentarily in time, tumbles to the canvas, already out cold! A brutal knockout by Frankels!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rocket Bob Frankels!
