The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stevenson falls off balance throwing a combination

and Thomas counters with a nice double leg into side control. Stevenson won't be happy with that.

Thomas tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
A lull in the action here as Thomas stalls from top position.
Stevenson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

Thomas wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Stevenson, who protects the arm well.
Thomas is looking to take a break and control but Stevenson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Thomas tries for a kimura but Stevenson is defending well.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Thomas wants to lay and pray for a moment but Stevenson keeps working.

Stevenson is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Thomas is controlling him well.
Stevenson gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Stevenson wants to try and get back to his feet.
Thomas controlling his opponent.

Thomas is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Stevenson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Thomas has hold of Stevenson's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Stevenson manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Stevenson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Thomas on the ground.
Thomas won't let Stevenson get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Thomas is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Stevenson to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Stevenson shrugs it off.
Thomas can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Stevenson is looking to escape.

Thomas jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Stevenson manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Thomas advances to mount.

Thomas looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Thomas trying to control but Stevenson is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Stevenson trying desperately to get to his feet.

Stevenson is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Thomas locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Stevenson is forced to tap!
