PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Busta Rhymes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Duane Lee Chapman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rhymes's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Who Da Champion. Chapman comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Gonna Fly Now by Bill Conti kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Busta Rhymes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Duane Lee Chapman!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rhymes shoots in but no luck this time.
Chapman throws a right hand that Rhymes ducks under and follows up with a left that Rhymes also avoids with ease.
Chapman throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Rhymes sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Rhymes walks into a straight right hand from Chapman.
Chapman misses with a series of wild punches.
Rhymes ducks under a wild hook from Chapman.
A slow jab from Rhymes misses its intended target.
A big left from Chapman misses.
Rhymes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Chapman tries to avoid it but Rhymes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Chapman to the ground. Chapman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Rhymes feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Rhymes thows a big elbow that misses.

Chapman had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Rhymes is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Chapman Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Rhymes's back instead.
Rhymes trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.
Rhymes needs to remain patient if he's going to get out of this sticky situation.

Rhymes manages to reverse the position and now he's in Chapman's guard. Nice work there by Rhymes.

Rhymes is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Chapman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Rhymes doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Rhymes manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Rhymes drops back looking for a leg! Chapman is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Chapman manages to kick Rhymes off! Rhymes jumps back into Chapman's guard.

Rhymes drops back, looking for a kneebar! Chapman looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Chapman looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Chapman!
Rhymes struggling a bit here.
Rhymes throws an elbow to the body but it doesn't land.

Chapman tries for a kimura but Rhymes is defending well.

Chapman is trying to get an arm triangle but Rhymes is defending well.

Chapman avoids the strikes from the bottom by Rhymes.
Rhymes struggling a bit here.
Rhymes manages to work his way to half guard, despite Chapman's best efforts.
Rhymes is staying active underneath Chapman, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Rhymes moves into full guard.
Rhymes manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Chapman manages to get himself to full guard.
Rhymes throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Chapman works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Rhymes looking to pass the guard.
Chapman manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Rhymes flailing away with punches but nothing is landing.

Chapman prevents Rhymes from getting the reversal.

Chapman is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Rhymes is surviving well by controlling Chapman's body position as best he can.

Chapman looking to secure an arm triangle but Rhymes defends it well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rhymes manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Rhymes is refusing to be controlled, as Chapman sits in half guard.
Chapman trying to pass the guard but Rhymes defending well.
Chapman uses his free foot to push down on Rhymes's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Rhymes.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Duane Lee Chapman will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Chapman takes a swing at Rhymes's ribcage but misses.
Chapman looks to throw the jab but Rhymes is out of range.

Rhymes feints and as Chapman raises his hands in defense, Rhymes changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rhymes preventing the sweep.
Rhymes trying to control but Chapman is working from the bottom.

Rhymes thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Chapman pushes a forearm under Rhymes's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Rhymes is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
