PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Braulio Escobar (ranked 1280 p4p, 177 weight class) and Mark Steve (ranked 1176 p4p, 161 weight class). Steve comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Its a fine day to whoop somebodies ass kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 10 - 1, fighting out of London, Braulio Escobar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mark Steve!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Donald Grub and Sam Margolis.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Escobar looks to score with a jab to the body but Steve is just out of range.
A nice side step and Steve releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Steve looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.
Steve slips a straight right by Escobar.
Steve throws a leg kick but Escobar sees it coming and moves out of range.
Escobar misses with a hook. Steve ducked under it nicely.
Escobar throws a lazy right hand but Steve sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Steve looks to score with a jab to the body but Escobar is just out of range.
Escobar moves away from the strike by Steve.
Escobar throws a hook to the side of Steve's head but Steve sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Escobar throws out a loose jab but Steve uses good head movement to avoid it.
Steve swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.
Steve doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Escobar throws the left hand but Steve avoids the punch easily.
Steve feints a counter leg kick.
Steve takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steve bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Steve! But no joy.
Steve swings for the body but Escobar moves out of range.
Steve blocks a jab.
Steve looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Steve lands with a shot to the body.
Braulio Escobar seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Escobar misses with a lunging right hand
and Steve counters with a stiff right hand.
Steve pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Escobar just misses with a punch to the body.
Steve dodges the punch combination from Escobar.
And Steve responds with a good body kick, but Escobar manages to step out the way in time.
Escobar misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Steve.
Steve doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Steve tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Escobar manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Escobar fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Steve manages to avoid it.
Escobar looks to land a left hand but Steve moved out of range nicely.
Escobar backing away here, and Steve unleashes a leg kick that just misses.

Escobar throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

and Steve counters with a straight right hand.

It looks like Braulio Escobar has been cut.
Steve uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Escobar.
Steve misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Steve throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Escobar throws a big shot that misses.
Steve on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Escobar throws out a powerful jab.
Steve with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Escobar to score with a decent uppercut.

A punch lands to the side of Steve 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Escobar catches Steve with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Escobar drops Steve with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Steve! Escobar dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Braulio Escobar!
Braulio Escobar decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
