Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Francois Marais (ranked 1320 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Baker (ranked 2161 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Francois Marais!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, John Baker!
The judges for this bout are Peter Branson, Daniel Franklin and David Hoff.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Marais closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Baker quickly recovers to half guard.
Marais is looking to advance position but Baker won't allow it.
Baker is trying to stand back up but Marais is controlling him
Baker won't allow Marais to pass to mount.
Baker is trying to stand up here but Marais is controlling him well.
Marais wants to pass the guard but Baker is defending well.

Marais changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Baker looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Marais has hold of Baker's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Baker manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. And we move into the final round!



Marais is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Baker's half guard.
Baker tries to kick Marais off but Marais keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Marais is working for a kimura here but Baker manages to reverse the position and he's now in Marais's guard.

Marais escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Baker gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Baker wants to stand and escape but instead Marais has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Baker's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Marais moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Baker has worked his arm free - good work by Baker!

Marais is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Baker is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Baker is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Marais asserts his dominance and retains side control.
