Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tashiro Sugawara (ranked 2757 p4p, 317 weight class) and Darren Lloyd (ranked 5692 p4p, 503 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sugawara closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Sugawara lands in his opponent's guard.
Sugawara is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Sugawara works to advance to full mount. Lloyd defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Sugawara's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sugawara looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.
Lloyd can't escape the position.

Sugawara has hold of Lloyd's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Lloyd manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Sugawara takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Sugawara has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
