Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between King Kong (ranked 1119 p4p, 131 weight class) and Rusty Shackelford (ranked 1079 p4p, 125 weight class). Kong comes to the cage accompanied by Moviendo las Caderas. Shackelford has chosen Boomhauer - Dust in the Wind as his entrance music. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kong goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Kong slips under a jab from Shackelford.
Shackelford paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Kong tries to land a front kick but Shackelford steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Shackelford lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Both fighters circling a little - Kong finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Shackelford falls off balance throwing a combination
and Kong counters with a body kick that stops Shackelford in his tracks momentarily.
Kong looks to score with a jab to the body but Shackelford is just out of range.
As Kong backs off Shackelford throws a huge counter combo but Kong manages to avoid it all.
Good leg kick by Kong there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Shackelford throws a poor cross that misses
and Kong counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Shackelford pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kong back to the cage. Shackelford follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Shackelford tries to bum rush Kong with a series of wild strikes but Kong uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Kong ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Kong tries to clinch but Shackelford is having none of it.

Shackelford takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Kong pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Shackelford wants to counter with a clinch but Kong pushes him away.

King Kong seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

During a confident post fight interview, King Kong thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
