Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Randy Everett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rob Goblin!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Trevor Gratis and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goblin lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Everett backs up against the cage.


It looks like Randy Everett has been cut.
Goblin pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Everett shoots in for a double leg but Goblin sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Goblin tries to counter with a clinch but Everett shakes him off and moves away.

Everett has closed the distance and engaged Goblin in a clinch.
Both guys are working to get underhooks.

Goblin manages to break the clinch.
Everett fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Goblin checks it well.
Goblin scores with a jab. Everett acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

Goblin rushes Everett and presses him up against the cage.

Goblin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Goblin throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Everett tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Goblin counters with a straight right hand.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Everett has closed the distance and engaged Goblin in a clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Goblin taking a breather.
Everett is trying to drag Goblin to the mat but Goblin just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Goblin breaks from the clinch.
A head kick misses from Everett.
Goblin throws a right hand that Everett ducks under and follows up with a left that Everett also avoids with ease.
Everett went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Goblin darts in looking for a takedown but Everett gets double underhooks and turns Goblin into the cage.

Everett has taken the fight to the clinch.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Goblin just misses with a elbow thrown towards Everett's brow.

Goblin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Goblin doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Everett counters with a straight right hand.
Goblin dodges the punch combination from Everett.
Goblin shapes to counter with a head kick.
Everett shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Goblin but Goblin pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Randy Everett. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Everett tries for a takedown but Goblin sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

Goblin's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Goblin moves out of range of the body kick.

Everett wants to break the clinch but can't.
Everett is working for takedown but Goblin is calmly controlling the position for now.
Everett is breathing heavily.
Everett can't find room to land a body shot as Goblin controls the action.
Goblin struggles to land a body shot inside as Everett controls his hands.
Goblin stops a takedown attempt from Everett.

Goblin breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Everett tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Goblin manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Everett wants to clinch but Goblin slips to the side
and Goblin counters with a lovely shot to the body.

Goblin has closed the distance and engaged Everett in a clinch.

Goblin pulls Everett into guard.

Goblin has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Everett has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Everett can't get the takedown.
Goblin has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Everett after a bit of a struggle.

Goblin pulls guard effortlessly.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Goblin seems keen to control Everett's posture.
Goblin doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Goblin looking for a sweep. Not yet Goblin, not yet.

Goblin closes the distance and pushes Everett back into the cage.
Goblin with the Thai clinch. He's looking to land a big knee but he's not managed it this time.
Everett is looking for a takedown.
Goblin is trying to pull guard but Everett has him pressed against the cage.

Everett pulls guard effortlessly.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Goblin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Everett swivels though and keeps the full guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Goblin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Everett looking for a guillotine here but Goblin defends easily.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Goblin shoots in but no luck this time.
Goblin looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Everett is fending him off so far but Goblin persists. Nope, Everett circles away and we're back to standing.
Randy Everett has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Rob Goblin.
Goblin avoids a punch combination nicely.
Goblin will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Goblin shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Everett eats them both and turns towards Goblin to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Goblin clinches.
Everett tries to stall but Goblin uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Goblin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Everett shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Goblin defends it nicely.

Everett fails to land with a series of punches.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Goblin lands a really nice looking cross but Everett seems unphased.

and Goblin counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Everett thinking.

Randy Everett is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Goblin takes the fight into the clinch.
Goblin jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Everett walks away with a smile on his face. Goblin gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Goblin changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Everett fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Goblin has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Everett is pushing down on Goblin's leg trying to pass to half guard. Goblin is fighting to maintain full guard but Everett has managed to sneak the leg through.

Everett is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Goblin sees it coming and defends easily.
Everett stalling away here and it's allowed Goblin to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Goblin has control of Everett's left arm, preventing Everett from doing any damage.

Goblin manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage.

Goblin has hold of one of Everett's legs. Everett is fighting the takedown attempt but Goblin gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Rob Goblin comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Goblin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
