PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Lazy Bastard (ranked 2246 p4p, 243 weight class) and Adam Rios (ranked 511 p4p, 62 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 18 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lazy Bastard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Adam Rios!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, George Francis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rios bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Bastard pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Bastard swinging wildly here.
Bastard throws a right and a left that Rios avoids nicely.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

Bastard gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Bastard has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Rios off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
Bastard throws a looping overhand right but Rios ducks down to avoid it.
Bastard missing with a left hand there. Rios was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Bastard enables Rios to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Bastard manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Bastard is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Rios presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Rios pulls Bastard into guard.
Rios looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Rios has his foot on Bastard's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bastard works his way back into a safe position though.
Bastard is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Rabid Dog that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

Rios has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Bastard can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Bastard's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Rios working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Bastard doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Bastard manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Bastard slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Rios tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Bastard wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Bastard remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bastard wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rios keeps working.

Rios is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Lazy Bastard dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Bastard misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rios.

Bastard has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Rios is on him like a limpet, forcing Bastard back against the cage.

Adam Rios spent the whole post fight interview bigging himself up. It didn't go down that well with the fans after a while as they thought it was a bit arrogant.
