PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Piotr Przepiorka (ranked 2559 p4p, 275 weight class) and Adam Adam (ranked 3806 p4p, 368 weight class). Przepiorka comes into the arena with Kękę - Presja blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Piotr Przepiorka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Adam Adam!
The judges for this bout are Mauricio Rocha, Paulo Santos and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Adam misses with a wild body shot.

Adam drives through with a takedown into Przepiorka's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Przepiorka throwing rabbit punches from the bottom - showing the judges that he's keeping busy.
Przepiorka looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Przepiorka wants to sweep here but Adam controlling him for the moment.
Przepiorka is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Adam wants to pass the guard but Przepiorka is keeping the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Adam pushes Przepiorka up against the cage in a clinch.
Przepiorka looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Przepiorka turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Przepiorka manages to end up in side control.
Adam seems a little lost for a moment, as Przepiorka dominates the positioning.

Przepiorka connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Adam some visible discomfort.
Przepiorka working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Adam prevents Przepiorka from improving position.
Przepiorka is staying tight to Adam's torso, preventing him from escaping.
Przepiorka's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Przepiorka gets to mount! Adam was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.

Przepiorka has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Przepiorka lands a heavy elbow.
Przepiorka controlling the pace for now.
Przepiorka knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Adam on the ground.
Przepiorka avoids the attempt from Adam to control.
Przepiorka lands a big shot there that rocks Adam but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Piotr Przepiorka dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Adam misses with a lunging right hand

and Przepiorka counters with a shoot takedown. Adam fights it but they end up in guard.
Przepiorka stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Adam swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Przepiorka works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Still in half guard, Przepiorka seems content to control.
Adam tries to roll over but Przepiorka keeps him under control.
Przepiorka is pressing down on Adam's thigh, looking to free his foot. Adam is holding on for now.
Przepiorka is figuring out what he wants to do next.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Przepiorka seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Adam is breathing heavily.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Przepiorka in particular looking to stall.

Adam is trying to control the position but Przepiorka postures up.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Przepiorka's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Adam is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Przepiorka not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Our spies down at at JAG Battle Gym inform us that Adam has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
Piotr Przepiorka overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Adam tries to sprawl but Przepiorka drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Adam is trying desperately to improve position.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Adam takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Przepiorka looks up at the clock and then as Adam takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Przepiorka smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Przepiorka is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Adam's shoulder. That is not cool.
Adam is trying to get back to half guard.
A lull in the action here.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Przepiorka decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Przepiorka takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Adam gets full guard.
Przepiorka is stalling in the full guard.
Przepiorka slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Przepiorka controls the position.
Adam Adam has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Przepiorka is stinking the place up with his stalling.
Przepiorka looks up at the clock and then as Adam takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Przepiorka smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Przepiorka is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.
Adam takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Przepiorka is chipping away with strikes.

And that's the end of the fight!
Piotr Przepiorka showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Przepiorka, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
